  1. Hi Sparkles

So pleased you repaired OK after the unfortunate result of using metho to light a fire! Most of us have done it once .... I just got singed eye brows! Very lucky! "Wooof" would have been a good name, too!! It would have had folk wondering .....

    Cheerio

    Roberta

I am not sure about me repairing OK. That may be the subject of some conjecture.

Roberta is a lovely name. So it is a good idea to use it as much as possible.

  2. careful,

you may arouse the wrath of the salmon eating fraternity.

I am thinking of joining them. As my brtoher cooked some up in a curry, and converted me.

But nice observation on the grammer.

  3. Congrats on landing a good feed.

I have always wondered why council will not invest in the proper infrastructure around boat ramps. Longreef is a perfect example. There are some well laid out ramps, with excellent facilities around sydney.

But there are a lot that could do with much more thought, and resourcing.

    welcome to fishraider.

  4. I would not mind hearing some good ideas on crabbing as well. But I live in sydney.

I'll use the search feature, but they they are too good eating to not talk about.

I used to get them in rose bay with my dad, on the sand flats. When i was only a wee lad.

And a few would be around in the moorings near the police station.

Any suggestions on baits, times etc?

  5. Hi all

I come from a culture where yellowtail are prized table fish (don't ask i have no idea why) so they are often specifically targeted.

I have found very lean mince mixed with some bread crumbs soaked in tuna oil is an excellent bait for them if you can get the mix right you just need to grab a large handful in your hand pull the hook through it and just use what ever is stuck on the hook when it comes through without touching it, we have found that this outfishes the rigs.

    Arif

    Arif,

I agree whole heartedly. Fishing with mince is the go for yakka's. And as ross said lower your baits in rather than cast them. keep pressure on the line as the small hook can be spat easily. If you can see them hit the bait you are laughing.

But do not go and bye "mints" instead of mince meat, as my country cousin once did, after i sent him to get bait.

he has spent the last 10 years trying to land a fish on XXXbreath mints. funny stuff happens when you fish.

  6. Hey mate.

I get my servo bait from that caltex or the servo at north rosebay.

otherwise I would get some decent dtuff from down at matraville. But I live in the area.

Or berlie up some live yakka's at rose bay wharf, or get some jig's on and get into some live squid at the same spot under lights.

Craps on servo bait anyday, and 50 times on a monday.

    good luck

  7. Top report Mondo.

I didn't need the pics, It was all in my mind.

What size sinkers were you using. Only small ball sinkers I am imagining, to try and keep the bait in the wash?

    Well done.

  8. welcome to the site lads.

There is some excellent fishing to be done off the cliffs between south head and bondi.

Float out some baits. fish heavy and burly always helps.

but it claims a lot of people that area. even some friends of mine.

    so do be careful.

good luck, and i can't wait to see some monsters being dragged to the top.

  9. I remember when i was a kid ( 31 now) this bloke used to walk up and down the street selling blackfish he'd caught down the maddens (of the rocks at dover heights)

    2 bucks a fish

and he would always have a fair few.

obviously not legal, and a million other things wrong with that.

but my old man used to bye a few off him, and they were great.

he was nuts as far as i am concerned for climbing down there. least we could do is pay him for his suicidal tendencies.

  10. Look at it this way.....

Lets say you an I had a disagreement on here...a big one....and one of us wanted to take it further...

I have posted numerous photos of myself on reports so im easily identifiable.....

If i said say eschol park...i relatively small suburb.....that person could frequent the shops etc in that area and find me....

Just as an example.......I have nothing to hide, as i said i have change my location a few times, what im saying is it is up to the person.....An i would say that admin agrees with me seeing as they didnt make it compulsory.

    fair point Netic.

I am to ugly to bother though.

i suppose if people want info, they should give as much as they need to in the thread.
