  6. G'day Roberta, You sure are keen....I had the boat ready to head out this morning but when I woke up, it was pouring / bucketing out here on the farm. Anyway looking to head out early t'morra before work. My dad is down from Nambucca and needs a to fish desperately. Sneddo
  7. Nice fish Roberta...in fact, top fish. I watched a few fellas last Wednesday get a few ( good ones as well ) on the Forster side of the breakwall. My Dad will be down from Nambucca Heads next week. He has been getting a few up there of late. He says it's the best run in 4-5 years. I had read similar for SWR and Port as well. I am sure he will head down the wall or up the lake a bit. .. but I am not sure his Nambucca Golf Course weed will be the weed of choice. Sneddo
  8. Pretty sure the bust offs were quality bream mate....
  9. G'day All, Had a great fish yesterday in the Hastings. Made the trip up from Forster for the weekend way with a mate and his family. Fellas had a little fish and the Wives and kid's had a shop. 4 exciting busts off's plus 10 real good bream boated briefly, admired and then released. 2 Decent Flatties close to 50cm mark were also caught and filleted. These found there way back to the tea table in Firefly. All Fish were taken along the sea wall earlier in the morning and at a washboard or two as the tide pushed some cleaner water towards the leases. All taken on 2 inch Berkley Shrimp in New Penny and the 3 inch Berkley Minnow in mouldy cheese. No photo's ...Sorry Sneddo
  10. Mate & I are popping up the road to Port for a flick.
  11. Strewth..An awesome fish. Is he a dentist ? Sneddo
  12. Fishing is the winner ! I start work at Noon in the winter and 2pm during summer.
  13. G'day Roberta, Will do mate.... Thought I saw your vehicle by the wall as I was leaving ? I just had to have that last cast 20 plus times. So by the time I pulled the boat up I had to rush once again to get back out to Firefly for work... Sneddo
  14. G'day All, Managed a few hours on the the lake this morning before work. Mainly fished the leases around Hells Gate, The Stockyards and the Northern Wallis Island banks. Managed some great Bream.Landed 7 keepers, pulled the hooks once and got busted off once . Released all except 2 at 30cm's for tonight's Tea. Lure of choice was a SR Camion in dark green around the racks and DR Camion in same colour around the island. Attached is a mobile phone photo of the one of the released fish. Cheers Sneddo
  15. Steve, 130lb on the 70 class reel. Strike drag set to 32lbs with the drag pushed to the 60lb range during the fight.
  16. G'day Roberta Busted off twice around the leases just before the Step, then the tailor did me for two more Chubby's....Seems to be a few good Tailor around the Step. Called it quits so I could get back to Firefly for work. Expensive morning. Haven't had too much spare time of late. Planning a day on the lake this weekend. Sneddo
  17. Thought I saw you heading to the wall ( Forster Side ) just on the tide turn. On a mission it seemed. White bongo style ute ? I was pulling my boat in at the ramp after a flick for a bit before work. Sneddo
  18. G'day All, Mate of mine from New Hampshire in the US sent me this photo of a Giant Bluefin taken recently in the waters off Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Mates Quotes from his email below "We were trolling with spreader bars and a Penn 70 went off, lost 400 yards before we knew what was going on. Stand up fight lasted 12 minutes, got it up to the boat, tail-roped; brought it onto the deck with a block and tackle. Fish dressed at 290 lbs (no guts, head, or tail) and would've been about 425 lbs prior to dressing " " As far as the size of the fish up this way; giant bluefin get up over 1000 lbs but today they are quite rare in that size range, anything in the 600-700 lb range is considered quite large, fish over about 400 are considered to be good sized fish, but they come in all sizes. The last few seasons we've been catching quite a few in the 50-150 lb range, sometimes 10 per trip... this season there have been many fish in the 150-200 lb size range caught " Sneddo on behalf of a US based mate.
  19. Mate, Not long back from Tokyo. I get up there a bit with work.... The rods are bloody unreal and the choice is mind boggling. As for reels, Monk is spot on stick with Daiwa if you can. High end lures are half the price and some up to two thirds of the price we can get them for out here. I stock up on lures, Owner trebles and high quality fluorocarbon each time I visit. Try the retail chain Joshuya. They are everywhere. However, I found Sansui[/u] the best. They have 4 stores within 5 minutes walk in Shibuya, Tokyo. http://www.japantackle.com/Topics/tackle_shops_in_tokyo.htm http://proshop-sansui.com/index.html One of the above sites is in Japanese but I think you will get the idea, The other has a map. Sneddo
  20. Beautiful Bream Roberta....I heard of a few 3/4 to kilo plus fish pulled from the lake over the weekend.
