  3. Done but some questions don't have appropriate answers that you can tick. Frank
  4. Jim. Glad you are pleased with the bomb, you can adjust it so it actually flows out the side of the boat so it get's nowhere near the motor which is advantage on turns and it doesn't roll around on the floor when not in water. Cheers Frank
  5. Hi Jim. Thought I was reading a 12 months old post till I realised the mistake. Anyhow great read and some fine fish after many hours on the boat. I used to enjoy an overnight camp in the boat but too old for those antics these days. Think it's a shame to smoke the Mahi as they are delicious shallow fried or baked, enjoy whatever way you do it. lost keys

All is good. Found them in a pot plant under the letter box, must have dropped them when I checked the mail. Thanks for the advise and I will see a locksmith and get a spare done. Frank

    lost keys

I lost my keys somewhere between the road out the front of my place and/or somewhere in the house or back yard sheds. Been looking all day long and tend to search the same spots a hundred times. To get a replacement I have to have the car towed to a dealer and they have to re code a new set of keys, god knows how much that's gonna cost me ?. It's an old 2006 commodore so I thought they would be able to do it via the V I N number but they say they need the car there. If I haven't found them by Monday I will have to bite the bullet and get it towed to a dealer. Meanwhile my better half is taking her car to Ulladulla tomorrow so I will be the week end without wheels. Frank
  8. The knob is quiet easy to pull out and move to positions 1 2or 3 but it doesn't appear to do anything, the black lever must work in conjunction with the knob but nothing happens, I'm guess there is something missing, but I can't work out what, maybe have to turn motor upside down so I can get a good look to see the workings of it. Frank
  9. I also think you have to push down on the tiller while you adjust the knob but just guessing. Frank
  10. Hi guys I am playing around with a 6hp 1999 mercury 2 stroke which I want to fit to a 12 foot punt I have laying around. I have had this motor for a while but never had it on any boat. I started it the other day and it runs well. I can't for the life of me figure out how to work the tilt, I have been playing around with it for hours and somehow I now have it locked in the shallow drive position but have no idea what I done to get it there. I know it has something to do with this round knob and I think it may have to be in forward gear ( sounds strange ) could it be missing a lever or something. Google or Utube are no help as it keeps showing me tilt for large motors which has nothing to do with what I ask for, OR haw to change a spark plug etc. Surely there is someone out there that can help me in some way?. Not often I have to ask for help but this has me stuffed. Frank

    First boat info

Looks like about a 84mod Brooker to me. The deal looks on first site to be a bargain and only needs the legality to be checked out, and if there is any money owing on it. Frank
  12. Sean. Nick would probably be back home in England by now. Shame there wasn't a member on here willing to help the guys out. Frank

    First boat info

The motor NEW would be around 7K if pull start tiller and around 8 k if key start and remote steer with tilt etc. Seems like the guy doesn't really know the value of what he has got. OR it's an old riveted boat with old motor etc. Anyway I would help you decide if it's what you want. Just PM me your details and let me know when you want to go. We used to call the old Suzuki's ENO cause they disolved in water. Frank

    First boat info

Wow for 2K don't expect the queen mary!!! If the motor is a good one that alone would be worth 2K . I have an old Brooker 14 ' and 30hp merc on old trailer and it looks like a piece of crap ( outside ) but IF I was to sell it I would be asking more than 2K. You have my interest and I would like to see what is on offer for 2k. Would love to see photos if possible. Frank

    First boat info

Where abouts are you and where is the boat in question ?. Perhaps I could come along with you and check a few things out, I'm not licenced boat inspector but I have bought and have had a few in my day. Frank
  16. First thing I would be checking is the antenna and lead, connections ( sometimes get salt in them and guck up ) . I would be borrowing a antenna and try. Anyone on the site got one to lend for a test. I don't have one, if I did you could use it. Frank
  17. I once seen a tinnie with 4 electric motors on the transom in Port Hacking, have no idea how he controlled all 4 at once in sinc. But he was moving along quiet nicely. Small 1.8hp or slightly bigger would cost bugger all in fuel and probably less than the electricity it takes to charge the battery's several times, think about the cost after a few years of charging the battery's. What's this?

I have been informed that it is the trim gauge switch. Thanks Noel. Frank

    What's this?

I'm guessing 70-115 Johnson/Evenrude and it is something to do with tilt/trim. Frank

    What's this?

Not much of a picture but I think it's the switch that ends the trim and starts the tilt, if that makes sense . I could be wrong. Frank
  21. I made alloy trailers over 20 years ago and the one that I am still in contact with is still going strong, no cracks no corrosion and it's travelled all over the country. Alloy will probably last a life time, springs, lights and tyres will have to be replaced over time but the frame will keep on keeping on. I put Alko independent suspension on my trailers so no issues with springs either. Frank

    weld burn

Neil. Think I got things sorted with the motor, cleaned plugs and found loose earth connection, adjusted high speed lever etc. Motor runs really well on flusher, so will see what happens next time I put it in the water. Still going to clean carby etc when this weather cools a bit. Frank

    weld burn

Kingie, you're absolutely right having experience in anything doesn't mean you do things right, safety wise I'm sorta half way there, I do wear safety glasses make sure there are no inflamables near sparks etc but I am a bit slack as far as wearing gloves, sometimes wear thin T I G gloves when I think of it but usually run the gauntlet for feel, guess I will never learn and burn myself often, sucker for punishment I guess. Frank
  24. I just stay 1 or 2 k's under whatever the speed limit is, the trailer and boat just follow me cause it's well set up, no pitch or sway and I have travelled all over the country. Just use some common sense and keep plenty of safe distance between you and what's in front of you. Frank

    weld burn

Mate been welding and using all sorts of machinery for over 50 years but I still do it, hardly ever wear welding gloves these days as most is T I G or M I G , guess I will never learn. Yes I ran it under cold tap for several minutes, pain eased off now but blisters will sting when they burst. Frank
