There is nothing more frustrating seeing squid swimming at the back of the boat only to realise they came from the tank.

I overcome that by fitting a kitchen sink plug hole and piping fittings as the main drain system.

  2. Ive just glued bilgepumps on the transom before with sikaflex.

make sure both surfaces are clean. And scratch the bilge pump surface up a bit for good adhesion.

tape the pump on with lots of gaffa tape while Leaving a good week to cure.

also Ive used a 12v Holden HZ interior light dimmer switch to lower the voltage to overcome the tank filling to fast.

Just turning it up or down to get the right fill to drain timing.

but I still had a larger outlet.

also watch out for yakka,s swimming into the drain hole and blocking the outlet.

if your not watching or your asleep your boat can flood if u haven't got self draining decks.

  3. The tube inside  an Ajax spray bottle works in a standard tell tail.

but I like to drill the tell tail out and use a thicker tube.

thicker tube = thicker stream of water= easier to see at night.

most of my fishing was night time over my  fishing years.

Next time I fire up the saltwater 115 I'll get a few pictures n post them up. Might be a few weeks as its bit cold just yet.

N its a major job getting my boat out of the shed, ?

    cheers

  4. And I cant believe when I checked the old 115 evenrude that hasn't been started for 20 years still had the one I made and used 30 years ago still in it?

I was 25 years old when I made n fitted that.

I thought it would have fell out n been lost years ago.

my other idea that I had but didn't use was running run a piece of rubber tube all the way from the motor ( removing telltale hose from the fitting screwed into the engine block)  fitting a 5 meter long rubber hose  out through the gearshift and throttle cable hole in the front of the motor along under the gunwhale to just outside the starboard  side windscreen in view as I was driving.

Just look to the right and see the water pump was working ok instead of turning around to see the motor.

that way your always looking forward and it's safer.

  5. Yeah the primer bulb works great hey Zoran.

ive actually got 2 primer bulbs.

1  between the tank n the fuel filter and 1 between the fuel filter and motor.

using them both in alternative timeing pumps the system up really quickly.

Another modification I made on my 115 saltwater mercury is

a small piece of plastic tube heated in the center and bent on a 45deg angle.

i drilled out my telltail fitting and forced this onto the hole. Faced it upwards pointing back.

when I'm motoring I can see a jet of water shooting up n out the back really easy.

as last night trip I picked up a plastic bag and found out when it was alarm buzzing.

might install a small red led light beside the tube so I can see a Fluo jet of water in the night.

  6. I just use the original fuel bulb, and the extension hose

just keep squeezing it as though your priming your motor and once its got the fuel moving gravity takes over.

    easy as

  7. Id disconnect the fuel line from the motor (it's already primed n ready to start flowing) and lengthen it using a garden hose.

heat the garden hose with boiling water and slip the fuel line inside the garden hose.

use a good length extension hose.

park the boat on high ground and put a few 20 litre plastic fuel drums beside each other so you can Change over quickly.

    drain the lot out.

watching the last lot to see if any water or dirt comes out.

if nice n clean change the fuel filter and reconnect to motor n refill.

bearings should be ok if they were greased good when changed.

dosent hurt to replace if them if your worried, not real hard or not very expensive anyway.

but always replace the bearing cups with new bearings.

i know heaps of people that just change the bearings n leave the old cips in the hubs, not good practice as its only half a job done.

    not a good job.

  8. Yeah just grubs,

    no respect for our oceans.

confiscate their boats, tow vehicles n gear I say.

and hit them with a big fine.

    $10,000 plus

make them a lesson to other anglers .

  9. I used to do really well on the south west side of the bridge.

id pull my boat up there n fish towards the boat hire shed,

bream, flathead, Taylor n now n then a decent Jewish.

I moved back to Sydney and cant get away to fish there much anymore.

But will be selling up soon to move back to the water soon. ?

    Cant wait!!!

  10. If Lemmon juice dosent help your in trouble!

lemmon juice is very close to bleach I understand.

Zoran would be a good man to ask about this.

bear in mind that when using your hands with anything, chemicals, cleaning fish, etc

That our hands have pores. and toxins etc can enter your blood stream via the skin and pores.

also toxins can enter your body through your eyes in vapor form.

thats why our eyes water when we are in close proximity to chemicals etc.

Might be an idea to use washing up gloves next time?
