  7. My whole family plus in laws just enjoyed the fillets. I rolled them in pepper and freshly grated parmesan cheese then dusted them in flour and fried them in olive oil. Delicious
  8. They are GIANT squidlies!! What jigs and line class do you use for them? You should open a Calamari Kiosk!!!
  9. Headed over to the north side of town for a lash at some pigs this morning. Arrived about 7am to find a couple of Asian gents well into the pigs in a corner gutter. I tried my usual spot but the swell was up too much so I joined the lads and they fitted me in a tight spot with them. They continued to pull some top pigs and after they left, I managed a few with the best going 50cm. I was using banana prawn pieces and the others were using tiny school prawns. I misplaced my usual reel loaded with 30lb and wound some 20lb Vanish onto a lighter Alvey of mine. It was hard to handle as the line kept coiling off the reel. Does anyone have any suggestions for the best mono to use on 2kg + pigs? I'll enjoys tucking into a feast of drummer fillets tomorrow night!
  10. Looks like a great day out and even better when the targets turn up!
  11. That is a top belated report. What length/weight did it go?
  12. That is a cracking pig on 4lb What sort of stick were you using as it must have ben bent in half. I agree on the worm looking like a piece of weed. Sensational effort!!
  13. They are great lookin pigs there!! I can't wait to get into them myself. I find that when I use 30lb string I get fewer takes but it's the trade off when you use 20lb and lose the thumpers!!
  14. Thanks Stewy will try that next outing!
  15. Great session as usual Stewy.\! Can you tell me the type of retrieve/action you use on the light bladesa I'm strating to use them a bit now.
  16. That is a cracker and a half! Well done on braving the cold too!!!
  17. That's a great result on the release and the other 50cm models would have gone down well on the plate too. Keep the posts coming!
  18. What a healthy flatty! Don't buy those jigheads anymore.
  19. Hodgey, That looks more like a summer run of good fish! Some beautiful sized fillets there too. Hodgey, I nailed a 72cm model in the dark in my kyak last weekend....the first over 50cm since before Christmas! It took a ZX 35 down deep and came to the kayak without much fuss in only 5' of water. After dark they calm down a bit!
  20. Poddy, What a great trip...massive grenbacks and a corker croc....don't ever regret the little guys bettering your PBs....imagine if they weren't interested in fishing!!!!
  21. Vote 3 for the Wusthof Classic. I picked one up about 5 years ago at DJs for 75% off so it was a true bargain. Time I took it to get a pro sharpen but it is flexible and does skinning & filleting over ribs beautifully.
  22. Frankie, Congrats on a special cpture as the weather cools. Hodgey's advice is always good isn't it?
  23. Andrew you're a fisho of many talents! Congrats on the marlin and your sensational captures in Fiji
