  1. Someone posted a link here once that had the coordinates for all the known fishing spots. I hope they post it again before its lost forever
  2. Although a seldom poster I visit often and almost feel cheated that the site will be taken away from me. Thank you wholeheartedly for the short time I have been able to enjoy this fabulous and valuable resource.
  3. I have seen 30cm or bigger mullet in there years ago very hard to catch but please let us know what you get
  4. Last August I went on a charter boat in Sydney harbour as I had just purchased a runabout and wanted to get some tips on where to and what to and how to catch bait, table fish and any other info I could gleam. I explained this to the guide, who is a well known professional, and he was more than happy to give up the info. As well as locations for target species I was shown techniques for squiding, how to use softplastics for flaties, how to catch blackfish, and livebaiting for kings. In fact now I have a little experince I wouldnt mind going on a charter again. But I always pay attention to any charter boat I see and try to work out what they are doing for my own education.
  5. Thanks for the input I only fish midweek and have been surprised by the number of boats out. Reassuring to know I can enjoy for years to come.
  6. Hi Raiders, Just wondering if the old timers and the more recent think there are more or less fish in the harbour over the last 5 years.
  7. Well I will find out sooner or later the catch broke on my old box after many years so there was a need cheers
  8. Was out there last Friday heaps off slimies and bonnies busten up the surface got a feww of each on the drift chinamans towards middlehead run out tide half hour after high used halco laser 10gm metal. I have seen big kings caught off clonny but live squid was the key. Soak a bait and see what happens. Can get anything from whiting to kings in that area. tight lines
  9. Got this little beauty for $25 at a car parts shop beats similar product at tackle shop for 4 x the price
  10. Thank you very good info
  11. Agree 100% love doing it but as a well known celeb once said no use fishing where the fish aint
  12. Hi Raiders, Started fishing from my own boat last June 2016, so fairly new boat is up for 200 hr service. Kicked off with a session with no no no, and got some great pointers on where to target certain fish and bait. Since then I have noticed the charter boats moving around the harbour as the seasons change. I was wondering if there is a fishing almanac that tells me where and when to target different fish species in sydney (I launch from roseville) in particular bait like squid or slimmys and where best to use that bait. And do you raiders think keeping a fishing diary is worth while. Cheers billy
  13. The tackle shop at Narrabeen on Pittwater road just past the where Wakehurst parkway joins has some of the best fresh and Live bait going ans depending on whos working some excellent local knowledge
  14. Im new so have recently read this how about sleeper or flathead that takes bait dosn't run untill you wind in
  15. I use rapala knot for lures and improved uni for everthing else except braid to mono where I use double uni. Im not catching marlin but not loosing fish to bad knots either and can change rigs in a jiffy. I have tried the polymer knot but despite claims I find it breaks well before the line rating.
  16. Thanks I had the problems you mentioned but I will have patience in the future top tip
  17. Hi raiders, Relatively new to boat fishing sydney harbour fishing solo out of 4.3 mtr runnabout. Just wondering if its better to have a running sinker above swivel to leader or put the sinker between two swivels. Hoping to catch Kingfish with either live squid or yakka using 15kg rod and Shimano 8000 baitrunner. At the moment 15lb mono to 40LB leader upgrade to braid coming soon. Cheers Billy
