  1. Im going to take a guess at 88cm Lance a top catch and a great pic!! cheers Chris
  2. there goes that for an idea then ?? does the lure itself float, say in a bath or sink, without anything attached?
  3. are you using 6lb mono or fluro? if fluro. try greasing the line (heard this works, not tested myself). I use mono when Bass fishing and it seems to keep the lures on the surface. cheers Chris
  4. I'll need a serious gear upgrade before I aim that high, heaviest combo i have is about 8kg rod and a Dawia 4000 spinning reel from what i hear the bigger they get the harder and harder they go, i definatly think the 50cm fought 3 times harder than the 40cm one i got last week!!! The tailor fishing on the surface was awesome, ive only ever really caught tailor from the beach on pillies or on plastics while fishing for bream and flatties and have never got them at this size before. cheers Chris
  5. Gday Byron, yeah i have heard to expect the bigger fish to move in over the coming months, looking foreward to it!!! just need to upgrade my gear a little what have i been doing not chasing these things before!!! cheers Chris
  6. hit the bay early yesterday in search of some kings, i got a 40cm model last time out so was hoping to better it this time. We got to the spot and I cast out one of those cheap berkley frenzy poppers (small ones from BigW, not bad value at $3.95) I was hooked up almost straight away, ended up being a solid 60cm + tailor. The tailor surface action continued for a while and we ended up landing 5 nice ones for last nights fishcakes The surface action died down so we tied on some lightly wieghted plastics, My mate got a solid salmon on a sluggo and I landed the 50cm Rat kingie below on a 100mm squidgie flickbait with a lightweight gamekatsu darted head. Great fun on 14lb line and now looking to upgrade to a serious king next outing!! cheers Chris
  7. Monster!! do you regularly get Muddies in the hawksburry? I have heard of the occasional capture as far south as Nowra .. cheers Chris
  8. Thanks all, that was about a month ago, and the smile hasnt left my face!! I have caught a few nice bass in a creek in Sydney lately also, and just as much fun how good is Summer!!! cheers Chris
  9. thanks, yeah pity the fish didnt say straight when photo was taken! my PB wild fish so far. was caught on a large Betts Spin with a 3" Culprit Swin Fin in a silver glitter colour rigged on about a 1/4oz kokoda jighead. We tried surface, minnows, spinnerbaits etc.. all morning and got nothing, tied the big betts on an got a 430, 390 and 370 within 1/2hr cheers Chris
  10. Caught this recently in the Shoalhaven, also scored a 39cm on the same day cheers Chris
  11. Thanks Jeff, will give it a go!! a few twists dont bother me, but all the time and hard to unstick is annoying cheers Chris
  12. Gday all I recently purchased some 10lb squidgy braid for my Laguna 2000, been using 4lb fireline on it for some time and very happy, but wanted something heavier for the spare spool.... but i have had so many twists, line tangles and rod wraps that Im a bit fed up..... is it just me? shoudl i have gone for a true braid on my spinning reel, or reserve it for the baitcaster?? cheers Chris
