  1. Dan,

Dont remove the beam - you will destroy the structural integrity of the hull.

You can remove whatever is mounted to/on the beam but dont cut the beam!!

Do you think I could cut into the beam? Maybe make it into a storage compartment.

  2. Gday raiders,

After looking through a lot of peoples projects and the work people have done on there boats it has inspired me to have a go at mine. Now I must say, when it comes to reno's im about a 2 out of 10.

When I fish solo there is more then enough room, but when there is 1 or 2 others with me things start to get a little cluttered. I want to make use of the space under the floor like many others do/have.

Now, a friend of mine is looking at making me a new centre console unit, failng that ill buy one. While i was looking at the layout of my boat I was wondering whether or not it would be possible for me to remove the front seat/beam of my boat? Is it neccessary to keep this seat? A friend thought that this seat may prevent the boat from twisting/buckling or something like that. If it is for structual strength I was thinking maybe we could reinforce the console etc.

The boat is 4.7m long, any advice would be appreciated.

this is the seat id like to remove under the console.

  3. Well done fellas that boat looks fricken amazing!!

I would like to get my boat "pimped" out a bit to make it more user friendly and more storage added. If your looking for a couple extra $$s and keen to take a look at my 4.7m dehaviland be sure to send me a PM.

I think your amp is worth more then my boat :074:

    Well done!

  4. Hello raiders,

On the last weekend of October a couple friends and I are heading up to Swansea for a couple days fishing. I was wondering if anyone would be able to give me any advice for the trip. Like,

Is it easy to get outside or do you need to cross a bar?

Any info on the boat ramps, are they good ramps or do you need to dry winch off the sand and are they far from the heads.

What species are best to target up there at that time of year.

Any reserves or no fishing zones.

Any good places to catch live bait.

And anything else at all that you may think of.

I am only just starting my research into Swansea because I have no idea about the area. I will definitely be searching the internet to try and find out as much I can but I though I may as well start on raider with a few questions.

Any advice is appreciated, and im more then happy to shout you a couple beers if you are up in the area when im there!!

  5. yeah Steve I was filthy with the decision but unfortunately like everyone else we have to cop it on the chin and move on.

Even though the sh1t decision decided the final result, we should have put them away well before that. Jamie Lyons catch and pass which he put down was a certain try as well as Tony Williams drop ball. We made some sh1t decisions at crucial times.

Its looking very grim on the Manly front thats for sure!

  6. How did you go Dan?

    Unfortunately didnt make it Billy.

I got within 2km and decided to pull the pin and head back inside. Unfortunately the swell was digging in and I thought safety first. I probably should have turned back from about 4km but the urge to catch a dollie had me thinking give it a little bit longer!!

In the end I came back inside and picked up half a dozen kings so all wasnt lost.

    Ill get there - Eventually.

  7. 5 m blue and white alison mate

Were you out there with another bloke with a sea anchor out?

We trolled past not far from you if it was you. I was in a centre console dehaviland with another mate.

  8. Gday Dan,

We went out yesterday and the fad was still out there no dollies water temp was down at 21.2 degrees , did manage a few Stripies and a just under sized kingy there though

    Fisho5

Thanks mate, ill give it a shot in the morning.

Out of interest what kind of boat were you in?

  9. Hey Dan, I was there on Friday. Unless the big westerlies has picked it up and sent it further to sea?? It was definately there on Friday.

    Hi Billy

It was your post along with many others that were my inspiration to head out to the fads. Ive just checked my GPS unit this morning and the fisheries website and ive entered 1 digit in the co ordinates wrong :1badmood::05: .

If anyone can confirm for me if the Sydney FAD is still out there since Billy saw it Friday it would be much appreciated. The :wife: and I are on holidays for a week, im going to see if i can swindle an early morning FADS session tomorrow or Wednesday, would be good to know it was still where it should be before hand.

    Thanks all.

  10. Hello all,

Just wondering if anybody knows whether or not the Sydney close FAD is still out there?

I went out today for my first time and couldnt find it. I went off the co ordinates on the fisheries website but no luck. Trolled around the area but still couldnt find anything.

Im hoping i never entered the co ordinates wrong and missed it completely!!

    Any help is appreciated.

  11. Hello all

Does anyone kno if these Uniden Transceivers are any good?

    "Uniden MC280027 27Mhz AM Transceiver"

My radio has sh@t itself so I need a new one.

A friend of mine said he didnt think these were any good and that nobody communicates on this frequency.

Not sure if he was pulling my leg, any advice is appreciated.

  12. Hello raiders,

My 2way radio has died in the @rse unfortunately. Instead of ripping it out of the boat and installing a new one I am thinking about buying a hand held radio instead and was hoping to receiving a little advice.

    Good brands, model numbers etc?

What radios people are using now which seem to do the trick?

How wide can I go with a hand held?

Any other pros and cons of the hand held.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  13. Thanks lads.

If I am fortunate enough to bag one this weekend I am going to sushimi some, wack some chunks together as a thai curry with coconut milk, lemon grass. And then with last bit ill have a go of it on the smoker.

Obviously the key is getting one first lol!

  14. Hello all

Just wondering since there are so many stripies around at the moment, whether or not they are any good eating.

If you bled and iced them like other fish?

    Any advice would be appreciated.
