  4. Try going to any of the markers or the jettys and burley up you will get better results than balmoral and try using a bait jig with only three hooks and send the jig down further i find the higher the jig more chance of sweep what ramp do you come form? Richard
  5. Hi Guys Got a call from a friend of mine that is new to the sport on Thursday afternoon and ask me if we could go fishing even though it was going to rain. Not scared of the rain but in a centre console with no cover it is no the best way to spend your day. So took the gamble and Headed to gladsville for a fish, due to the poor weather and the strong wind warning, thought my try for the rare Jewfish. With plenty of fresh bait, three bags of burley and plenty of pilies headed for the hole under the bridge (spot x). Burley up and caught several yellow tail and three or four tailors for bait sent fresh strips and live yellow tail down to try to catch that big jewfish. One hour in to our fishing trip the reel goes off like crazy the call was jewfish So all the lines come up and trust it to be my new fisho friend rod that went off. (I told him several days before that once you catch a king fish or a big jewfish you will straight away go buy a boat). So three or four minutes go past several meters of line come off we see color and you bet it is a 68 cm king fish no one could believe it, it took a pilie tail on 10 pound line with a size 1 wide gap hook it was incredible who would imagine you would catch a king fish this far up the river. 68cm Kings Fish 9-1-09 830am Gladsville Bridge Straight away change some of our gear put out bigger tackle and baits hoping for another lucky king fish. Two hours past we caught heaps more under size fish snapper and small bream. Then in a small patch we caught two legal bream one good size flathead and one legal flounder which went back. The fishing went very quite we were low on pilies after using two bags and nearly one kilo of hawksbury pawns and several strips of yellow tails it was nearly time to go home when the same guys rod goes off but this time he had swap me his rod and he was using my nitro magnabutt 4-6 kg stick the reel screamed for several meters, We knew this was either a huge jewfish or another king fish and you bet you a 78 cm king fish comes up to the surface. Took lots of photos stayed another hour and came home before the rain started. Home by 230 pm end days result
  6. Hi nicnat I gutted a 78cm kingfish on friday and he was full with poddy mullet and white bait It must be the new bait of choice Richard
  7. Hi Guys Sorry for the late report but due to work and fishing activities was unable to access a computer. So I went out on Wednesday hit the water at 630am there was plenty of boats at rose bay already so I knew we would not be fishing the usual spots on our own again . Got to Wedding cake and there where around 7 boats with in 50 meters of each other it was incredible so I park behind the last boat going down wind around 50 meters away and notice a whole heap of burley coming my way and thousands of yellow tail around the 10cm mark right under the boat it was perfect so drop down a bait jig caught a dozen livies and was very happy with my efforts in 5 mins had enough livies for the day. We then sent two of the livies down and threw out our bream gear and waited to see what would happen in around 1 hour we caught 4 legal bream biggest was 38cm and two flathead biggest going 75cm pretty happy with our by catch so headed to south head to the red marker not much on the sounder so headed over to OMH We fished for about half an hour for zero bites so decided to bring up the pick while doing in so broke the rope and lost my brand new 4 meters of chain and my reef pick Had no choice but to fish in calm water for the rest day so went to spot x (drum at Clifton) Threw out some livies and started to cast stick bait at the drum You would not believe it, the kings would chase the bait all the way to the boat but would not bite or even have a slight go at the jig, we even had fresh squid strips from the week before and they would follow it all the way up to the boat with no takers it was very frustrating to be able to see the fish and not be able to entice any to have a go. After two hours of frustration we went back to the wedding cake and tried again this time we could see the kings chasing the yellow tail threw our burley so began chucking pealed prawns on top of the water the kings would come up have a small bite and disappear again .I tried pealing a prawn and with a small suicide hook un weighted to entice another bite for no luck. Switched to lures tried soft plastics, hard body and metal lures for not one bite In the end gave up headed home and acknowledge defeat [/b]King one Richard zero 2009 Some pic of the day
  8. Hi Guys Happy new year Went for a fish to tomaree head south break wall for absolute nothing could not even lose a bait. Caught several yellow tail and slimies and sent them down for not even a touch . This is my first time to th port and very disappointed with the quality and quanity of fish at the port. God help sydney harbour if we get half the marine parks they have . hopefully going out tomorrow any tips would be greatly appreciated Richard
  9. Hi guys Just wondering if any one know where to fish in shoal bay or nelson bay ? Keen to have a fish while on holidays with the family? I have 5.2 sea all keen to stay in side ? Regards Richard
  10. Hi All Went fishing last Monday the 17th and yesterday the 24th for zero kings . Unsure what went wrong . had live yellow tail ,had live slimies full bait tank worth ,no live squid . Caught zero , on both trips we got to rose bay around 400pm and fished till 830pm and only got one or two strikes manged to catch a large port jackson at south head marker and then headed to the wedding cake and tried there , had massive bait schools and saw the bait schools getting chased but could not get any to take the bait . We saw plenty on the sounder and even tried at clifton yesterday and saw plenty on the sounder there but could not get one to take the bait . You would think with slimies 8 to 10cm long you would have half a chance . I guess early in the season if you don't have squid you don't have kings The postive side to the post i got to go fishing and we caught a bag full of bream ,trevs ,flattys and fresh bait for our next trip. Richard

  18. Hi all Went fishing today in the bay , We went to the bait grounds and it took around one and half hours to catch 18 yakkas and two slimes This my first time fishing in the bay for live bait such a hard task compared to the HB After collecting bait headed to the oil wharf and only manged to catch flathead 48cm and one 42cm that took the live baits plus one large trevally they was around 55cm long . After no luck there headed to molx point sent down several baits never got a touch ,plenty of bait but no kings so headed to the drums sent the slimes down had no king bites but manged to hook several flatheads one going 50cm and landed one 32cm snapper , While fishing at the drums we manged to hook several large slimes around 40cm long and saw something that i have only ever seen at clifton gardens we hooked yakkas around 35cm long and were around a kilo in weight there was thousands of them they would not even let us reach the bottom with out pinching our baits, After all this it was a great day on the water but did noy mange to hook any king fish i have been told there are plenty there but yet to catch one on the bay Will post some pic as soon as i get them posted to me Cheers Richards

  22. Just purchase a new Nitro godzilla 10- 15kg stick and a 4500 bait runner shimano it costed with line $450.00 The best purchase i have ever made the rod by far is one of the best rods i ever used . The reel is a bit heavey but is very durable and is good for live baiting and trolling . I caught several large sambos and around several large kings in the last few weeks and the rod worked a gem
