  1. Well done boys!! So wish I didnt have to go to work. Would have been good to catch up and have a fish with u guys again. Jeff
  2. Hi Raiders, Fished Thompsons Creek Dam today with Dad. First casts were in at about 7am and approx 10 casts later I land the first fish of the day a pretty rainbow 41cm on the pink tassie devil. This fish was pretty lively for the early morning and took me for a few good jumps and runs. With a good start we had our hopes up for a hot days trout fishing....however.. it took a fair few casts before my dad is shouting out "Im on.. I just changed my lure and Im on" by the time i make my way over he has pretty much turned the fishes head and it starts to surface...it looked big!! A big male brown..his PB at 57cm and his smile made the trip all worth it!! That was the last fish for the day and we left at about 1:30pm. Only two fish but it was a top days fishin with my dad. Jeff
  3. All fish were released to fight another day...check out how thick the shoulders are on this rainbow Another pretty rainbow My PB rainbow landed for the day 52cm
  4. Hi Raiders, I haven't posted for a while as I have been super busy and have been unable to do some real quality fishing. However I thought I would let you guys know of my first ever fly fishing adventure and it happened a few days ago(25th Aug) while on vacation in Canada. I heard of the Bow River near Calgary being a "Blue Ribbon" Fishery and I thought this has to be a good place to learn how to fly fish and catch some fish also. Anyways I hooked up with a guide from the area and we fished drift boat style using an indicator and a combination of stone fly nymphs and worm pattern flys. Drifting/floating down the river we were able to fish countless miles for a total of about 10 hours on the water. I surpisingly picked up fly casting pretty fast but was pretty slow on striking with the slightest movements of the indicator. I still managed a total of 31 fish hooked and boated a total of 20 and apparently this was a slow day . The largest going a PB of 52cm and the average was 40cm . I had only caught 1 brown trout ever before this fishing trip and that was spin fishing in Thompsons Creek Dam ...it didnt fight that good ...but these wild river trout can fight I had a couple scream off and strip line off the fly reel at tremendous rate up stream!!. One fish took me to the backing and then some before I could start getting some line back and it was just a little above the average at 44cm. I lost one good rainbow that was easily pushing the 60cm mark. here are some pics below: Where we launched..i caught my first fish on a fly close to the bridge in the background nice brown These fish could fight!! a couple more pics to come.. I have to say a big thanks to Curtis Lawrence for teaching me the ropes of fly fishing and putting me on some quality fish. It was definitly a memorable fishing day. Jeff

  10. Nice little sesh. Unlucky bout the big one Bream off surface lures are great fun
  11. Fished IC and HC landbased (almost used LB but that would have been three acronyms in a row ) a few times in the last week and a half. Alot of small bream and whiting but I was able to score a few good ones below. This one was caught in IC on a turtle back worm near le montage area while walking my dog. Very small tail on this bream however did put up a good fight. it went just a tad over 30cm. This bream was a bit better caught on another day also in IC. It went 33cm The following fish were from this morning from 9am to 1030am in HC. Started off slow but ended up to be much more productive than the other two sessions. Ended up catching 2 legal bream the largest going 28cm and the flatties came out to play and I caught 5 with the largest going 60cm . Lost my lure to a better one that didnt know it was hooked until it saw my legs in the water then said im outta here!!....zzzzz then ping!! Pretty much called it quits after that but that was a fun session! All fished were released for others the enjoy during this holiday season Happy holidays fishing guys! Jeff
  12. Great day out on the bay!! It was different to see the kings in 1m or less water...I thought I would hook up as then were taking some serious looks at the pencil popper but backing out on the last second. Would have been great to hook one up on bream gear see it run like straight out with no way down Thanks again for the invite Nick and I cant wait for our next trip Jeff
  13. been out for two quick 1hr sessions at my local Iron Cove and Hen and Chicken. First was at HC two days ago and trying out my new ecogear zx35. The whiting were absolutely loving it heaps of fun even though they were just on or under size. Did catch 1 good flattie at 48cm. Second session was today at IC. Again used the zx35 and caught two good bream one 33cm and one 31cm and a couple of small flatties and whiting. The fishing land based is sure getting better of late JEFF
  14. youve been braining the kingies of late Well done man...the first one is nice king Jeff
  15. It was a great day out man...good company and to top it off the fish were biting (at least in the morning!!) The sambos on the light bream gear went hard!!! I can only imagine if we hooked up a kingie on the bream gear...I think i would almost definitely get spooled on my shallow spool luvias. Cant wait to do it again.
  16. Thanks... the light luvias combo handled it very well however dam trout ive heard dont tend to fight all that well and this one did just that..gave up after a few shakes. The weather was nice...ie not that cold at all. i'll keep that in mind for next time Jeff
  17. Fished Thompsons Creek Dam today with dad with the hope of catching my 1st trout. This is only the second time ever being out there and after doing some more research on fishraider posts we decided to hit the western bank. Tied on the a pink tassie and first casts were in at 7AM. The water looked promising with a few rises around and I had a big bow wave follow my tassie in the shallows (couldnt see the fish) but didnt take the lure . We found a deeper area and on the second cast i was hit by my 1st trout A brown hen going a touch under 45cm That unfortunately was the only fish for the day even though we were followed by big rainbows and browns and saw heaps of rainbows cruising in the shallows and occasionally feeding off the surface. We threw our whole tackle box at them...different hard bodies and soft plastics but to no avail. This was really frustrating seeing these big fish and not being able to entice them into a bite I think they were feeding on the of lady bugs and beetles that had fallen into the water. There were heaps of these little bugs around. All in all a great day out with my dad and another fish to cross off my list on must catch with a lure!! Jeff
  18. Good fish man!!! yeah...would have been better too get during the comp!! oh well....thats fishing...when you least expect it u'll probably score!! Go the jigging grubs!! (BTW banana prawns are still better ) Jeff
  19. You and your dad have been scoring well with the jewies on the georges river Thats an awesome catch on 3 pound line Well done robeebee!!!
  20. Well done Roberta Great read as always and top job on landing that big aggressive breambo I cant wait for Easter weekend...camping near seal rocks but im thinking of making that short run up to Forster one of the days and hiring a tinnie Jeff
  21. Fished HC at first this morning for 1 good bream but it was too quite and tide was getting low so I took off to IC and it turned out to be a good choice. It was quite at first and then I changed to a blade and scored the following. 27cm bream little flattie 28cm whiting 40cm Flattie that did a death roll and had all my leader wrapped around him 47cm flattie...lucky to get my lure back!! There were a couple of guys on a boat fishing hulls and one hooked what Im assuming to be a big bream because i could hear his drag sing several times and they had to track it down with the leccy. Neways I Had a great morning fishing both HC and IC and all fish were released to grow a little bigger Jeff
  22. Christened my new Luvias Rod 712ULFS with some good bream... I got out there yesterday evening with my Brother in Law and also a solo effort this morning. My Brother in law was using my old outfit and was a first time user of HB's. He scored a couple of small bream and his first legal approx 26cm. He was happy as and loves fishing with HB's. I devirginised my new rod on a nice bream....didn't measure him but he was pushing 30cm my brother in law with his first legal on hb's This morning was quite and I only got 1 hit at HC but it was a good one!!! Nice bream and he measured a tad over 34cm All fish were released as I do always in these area's. Only fished HC for 45mins because it was soo quite and i took off and hit IC where i did better. Jeff
