    My New Toy!

unreal mate, very jealous... should go good with the viper, i have the magnum butt and i love it. What are you planning to target with the combo? and lbs braid?
  4. Your best bet mate is it to go on a fly fishing charter.
  5. Hey guys, im after a overhead reel that i can downrig sydney kingys and jig for them. Also it has to be suitable for another rod that i will cast baits off wharves for them. Im looking at the trinidad 16n or 40n.... This outfit will not be used overseas or anything. Im leaning towards the trinidad 16n with 50lb braid. I think the 40n is alittle overgunned for my situation. Ill be dropping down 200-300g jigs for them. What to go for?
  6. Beaut Fish mate, Well done.
  7. im going to be getting a trinidad 16n solely for downrigging and jigging on a jigstick. loaded up with 50lb braid. Cant go wrong with the jack eskrine drag upgrade aswell
  8. I went out saturday aswell and fishing the lane cove river for nothing... gulps, blades you name it I tried it. Lets just hope it gets better soon!
  9. Seen plenty of them hooked... in the river..
  10. Hey dan , Sorry mate no tow.
  11. hey brickman thanks for the reply i can fish nights, and weekends I got work during the week. Regards brad
  12. Hey guys, long time lurker no poster!. Im brad 18, looking for a fishing mate, im ALWAYS up for a fish, lure work / bait.. you name it... i drive, and willing to pay half fuel costs / bait.... vice versa... Im based in north ryde....
  13. Would be good for kings mate... WAYY overkill for flatties... even some jewies....
  14. hey mate.... i was in the same situation as yours.... I want something to chuck heavy plastics on reefs / rivers targetting schooling macks, Jews, kingys, big snapper I ended up getting the nitro magnum butt distance spin 7'6 its rated to 4-6kg but imho 4-8kg... This thing will cast a unweighted sluggo a mile.... I fish it with 20lb braid.... witha daiwa luvias 3000.... ... if thats a bit light for you... have a look at the nitro viper.... its rated 6-8kg but has plenty of flick.... btw the raplala braid concept 10-20kg is also a nice stick but its pretty stiff to chuck plastics around.... Goodluck.
  15. I went with the magnum butt. yes the reel is a little heavy... after a shimano 4000 size reel now with 20lb...
  16. I think the magnum butt is really a 4-8kg imo.... youd be suprised it got balls! i think 30lb nitlon would be fine actually..
  17. Just how flicky is the viper? .... Ive heard the magnum butt is more rated to like 4-8kg really... I dont know i cant feel them both... I have to order one soon! Bassically i think... if i order the viper.. its way more overgunned for the others ill be chasing... but then again i have surance that ill land them........I dont think 30lb braid would fit on a magnum butt anyway... but then the 7'6 .... its good for sure basing and good for jewies!...ughh just dont know!
  18. Using it for flicking for kings and jews...taking it offshore for sometimes snapper... chucking metals at schools of mack's / light poppers for small kings too... I'm usually shore based more than ever... just targeting all those pelagic speedsters on lure work the nitro viper 6-8kg 7'0 the nitro magnum butt distance spin 4-6kg.... 7'6 Giving many thoughts.... ive been wondering for a while. Im leaning towards the viper... "sure" its possible to land small kingys with both... but a big kingy will do you easy on ethier on the rods... it was a good good for breaming wasnt really okay for more heavier lures.... My reel ill be using is going to be a daiwa capricorn 4500j with 30lb NITLON braid... cheeeeers brad.
  19. Hey guys i was wondering if anyone knows about the jigging/popping scene.... I was going to buy a rapala braid concept rod and use it with my daiwa capricorn 4500j with 40lb braid. Would this be a good match? im going to upgrade my capricorn to a stella later on. Just wondering how would this rod hold up to bigger braid like 80lb in the near future I dont know the line ratiing but its pretty up there... Also i was going to purchase some river2sea jigs but i dont know how they hold up quality wise. Can someone refer me to some jigs that wont brake the bank that work good with quality and also poppers.. Thanks Brad

  21. heya, im after a rod and reel that would be under the $400 price range (if possible) for landing big jews and kingys out near the spit bridge and sometimes boating OUT in the waters. I'm definatley a lure fan and would be using live bait/ big hbs and SP lures and need to have something to land king fish and jews without a problem. I dont want to spend big money because it will be used once every two weeks. Preferred to have a eggbeater reel. What am i after? what pound line? do i use a leader? Anyone heard of the Daiwa theory 4000? What size model do i need to land these fish? 3000's 4000's 6500's? help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
