Ive got a stella 8000 with 50lb braid and hoping to hook a big one..... ill be getting a 10 foot rod for it soon and plenty of freezed mullet... What size rigs should i use? metal? snelled 10/0s???? Whole mullet or filleted? might even score a jewie! Brad...

Careful going on the boat around there... ive actually seen people that fish there throw sinkers at boats because of the waves the boats produce.

Hey guys just wondering if any of you use spinning reels with braid to livebait off the rocks... I was just about to buy a stella 8000 or possibly a tld 25 of some sort .... With the stella i want to load up about 50lb braid and use it for land based off the rocks with slimeys under a float.... Ill be targetting longtail tuna off bermagui and harrington... sometimes getting up to 20KG +..... But only twice a year i do at as the stella would be my big harbour kingy livebaiting reel.... Worth it or not? Brad

Mine is definatley going for a cast and the braid somehow gets wrapped around the eyelid and breaks at the leader knot.... your leader and lure just flys away into the horizon.... bloody tailor picking on hardnt earnt caught squid that are meant for jewfish... Wharfs been to packed out and people that get too close to you fishing in your own spot....Line tangles or WHAT?

Bassically I want it for.... 1.Livebaiting/ downrigging Bigger sydney kings ( dusted by too many on 20lb braid) 2. Surgeons ( dusted by too many on 20lb braid) 3. Light jigging off terrigal for kingfish. 4. Spinning for est 10kg tuna off the rocks at bermagui.. 5. Groper off the rocks. 6. Livebaiting tuna at bermagui rocks....est 10kg tuna Ill obviously have different rods for this been such a nice reel... But just which size? I was thinking the shimano stella 8000 with 50lb braid ..... What does everyone think? Brad

totally agree with you gary hope your okay now mate. little cuts can turn serious. One late night i was really dumb and tired fishing for jewies off thel wharf.... i was playing around with my braid and i had it wrapped around my finger... (20lb).... yeah... i got a run and the braid tore through my finger at a lighting fast speed but it was only minor.... Went to work the next day (building fences) must have got some dirt in the wound.... a week went by and my finger was the size of a golf ball... I went to hospital and had some blood tests and ended up having "golden staph" and was in hospital for 2 weeks with some heavy antibiotics, risk of loosing my finger.... All good now thankfully except a nice scar. Since ive been infected with golden staph ive got to always use benadine or dettol, which i use frequently Bloody hooks!!! Brad!

Hey guys, Went down to my local spot yesterday , first time squidding and ended up with 3 nice arrows around 25cm Since it was low tide when i left it was very good to go fishing at my jewie spot.... 1 .Whats the best way to freeze the squid so i can use it next time? 2. Is it better than the market squid? Even tho im freezing mine for a while? 3. I put them in ziplock bags (airtight) and in the freezer full of ink?? correct? 4. Should i kill the squid straight away after i catch them? 5. Also when baiting for jewies should i have the ink over the squid strip or not? 6. How long can I store my squid that i caught yesterday until they loose potency of catching kings/Jews. 7. I just chekd my squid and its gone a little pink? what does this mean? thanks, Brad

hey guys im bassically after a kayak... Dont have enough money for a boat and along with hassles of them. So im after a kayak around the $1200 price range Ill be fishing the local rivers and "sometimes" going out in the habour.. nothing offshore... Cheers, Brad
