  1. Thanks @dlvbw It seems like the FADs to the south of the harbour are producing better results than the ones to the north at the moment (ie Sydney east, Botany bay wide vs Sydney Harbour and Sydney North).
  2. We went out too (later than you though), and visited a couple of FADs, including a couple of private ones. The wave rider and Sydney Harbour FADs were quite busy but didn’t see any Dollie’s being caught - is that where you were, or were you at a different one? We got a few rat kingies on livies but didn’t see any big fish (or dollies) follow our bait. That is fishing sometimes… Quite a few boats out, and a cracker of a day. Water was as glassy as I’ve seen coming home around 11. Great photos, great report!
  3. Wow, Nice haul of snapper there, @Pickles. A question, if I may, regarding fishing for snapper? What sort of bottom features are you looking for on the sounder? I’ve read the articles on the forum and also looked online, but never had much luck sounding up (or catching) the fish. There is so much information out there, and much of it is conflicting. Cheers.
  4. Hi all. First report, so be gentle! Took the boat out chasing dollies on Thursday. Left Tunks just before 5am and filled up the live bait tank with yackas as the sun rose. Headed out to Botany Bay wide just before 7 - it was a pretty good run out but stopped on the way to throw some lures at some surface action with no luck. When we got to the FAD there were probably 10 boats in the vicinity, some of who were holding position by motoring on idle within 20 metres of the FAD. We threw livies out over a few drifts and landed 7 fish, of which we kept 5. Probably another 4 got away. There were a few boats trolling (lures?), none of who we saw hook up, however some of the other boats ‘drifting’ managed some hook ups on pilchards. Current out there was running 2+ knots and the water temperature was over 25. The seas flattened out even more and we were back at Tunks by 1045, but didn’t get out of the water until after 2 as there was a barge there loading rocks to be taken around to Luna Park (for the council apparently). A good day out all up with cracking weather and slight seas. I also took the boat about a week earlier with my boys to the Harbour FAD and waverider bouy where we picked up (and threw back) 17 dollies as they were all 55 - 57cm. All caught trolling live yackas. Still, my boys loved it and it always good to catch something even if you have to throw them back Cheers.
