  1. Hi Rabbit. I just set the throttle at a speed that keeps the boay on the plane, and then move the power trim up or down to get the highest engine rev,s without touching the throttle. Try it and see how you go.i think it is the most economical too. Ben (basic fisho).
  2. Hi Guys. I cant go past what Iain says regarding the importance of using the licence mony to buy out the pros. Especially in systems like the Hawksbury. We did without all these other things they are doing with the money,i think more people would have got behind the licence deal, had they tackeled the hard jobs first.(The Pros.) I am definetly with Iain on this, although being a pensioner i dont have to buy a licence anyway. Ben.
  3. Hi Guys.Well no Hairtail to report,i think Brian might have had a nibble he had the line go off hard and when he pulled in t,he Mackeral bait was chewed to a soggy mess if you know what i mean.We gave it away about 1 a.m. and left Patrick there, hope he had better luck.Hard to believe how warm it was,i have never fished a warmer night than that for Hairtail. Bluecod i thought it was my radio that was playing up,must have been a pain in the arse till i finally gave it away.Take care.
  4. Well done captain. very nice report, there is hope yet for all,its just a matter of getting onto them ha ha. Well done. Ben.
  5. Bluecod, If ever our wives got to know each other and went shopping together, we would never be able to afford to go fishing again. Ben.
  6. Arranged with mate to leave Hornsby ay 8-30 a.m. On the water at 9-30. Looked a perfect day when we sett off and all the way there, but for some reason the water was a bit bumpy heading for Juno and then it only got worse the nearer we got to the Joey.We stopped heading out there and tried the Pittwater for a while, no fish on the sounder so we headed back to Flint and Steel,3 boats were fishing there and there was plenty of fish finder action below, but only a few tiny nibbles.so we finished up at Danger island, and in the last 30 minuets we allowed ouselves for fishing we got a keeper bream each, one went 31cent. and the other 30 cent. we had quite a few throw backs. So all in all it was a not too bad a day. If it is any consolation the other boats at Flint and Steel were not seen to pull any fish in either. Ben.
  7. Top report Downrigger, and top photo, sounds good fishing down there. Ben.
  8. Thanks chaps.Good to be back after 2 months,Darryl i didnt get a chance to hook the sounder up as he had the boat (12ft. tinny) down at the place he lived at before,Taylors beach at Ingham. He had loaned the motor off it to a mate who wanted to see if it pushed his boat along o.k.But he was very thankful for it as it would make it very handy for fishing round the many small inlets in north Hinchinbrook Island. Opp. Cardwell, thanks Knaper,Heck. Jimbo, Jocool. Ben. (basic fisho).
  9. Hi fishraiders. thanks for the p.m. George,Well i have been back a week today,i would never go to FNQ (far north Queensland)again in the first 4 months of the year,as the humidity is awsome and the Mossies are horrific. The wind never stopped blowing. Thats got rid of the pommy whinge. The one good day we got out to the reef was very good for trolling, we picked up 6 Mackeral one a nice Spanish, one a shark mack.I havent any photoes as the didgie went to the dogs earlier,i have since got a new one a Fuji 3500 am still trying to work it out. Called in at Calloundra and had a few beers with Ken,that is one beautiful place to live onya Ken.Then called at a friends place in Port of Bundaburg for a couple of days, got out with him and i got a very nice Silva Trevally, the wind was up a bit there. The next stop was Ayr my wife has a cousin there we stayed a couple of days then we were on our way to our sons place at Cardwell. He is a bricky by trade, but it is all block work up there and he has lots of work to catch up on, i honestly dont know how any one can work in that humidity, but he loves it up there the pig hunting more than the fishing i think. We stopped in a few caravan parks inbetween the stops with friends and rellos, the caravan parks are very good up there.Well cheerio for now i have quite a bit to catch up on as you can imagine. Ben.
  10. Hi Golden. The one thing you MUST do is stop the bloody leak, take out the outlet connection you put in, clean it up,then use the stagg that Joe reccamends, and when you think it is sealed o.k. fill it near on full in the sun with the valve open,it must not leak, some silly barstewerd could flick a cig. butt out at any time and you have a real problem.Dont take a chance on fuel.Thats my two cents worth, hope all goes well.Ben. P. S. Have the tank out of the boat when working on it,and clear of everything if poss.
  11. Hi Darryl did you touch it at all or did you know what it was. ben, read some of your good posts mate well done.Ben
  12. Hi me again. Couldnt get the photo down any lower in previouse post.I caught this numb fish and had no idea what it was, but i was very wary of it.a friend has a book on fish I.D.and there was a perfect replica of it.It delivers 200 volts and is found normaly on the barrier reef, what the hell it was doing at the Joey i dont know. Ben.
  13. Hi fishraiders.Delivers 200 volts numb fish.

  21. Hi Guys. Went to bed with no intention of getting up for a fish,as i had a fairly wild new year, and still suffering.well i woke early and decided to go,got to Bobbin Head at about 7-30a.m. got the boat in straight away no problem, saw plenty of craft on the way down to the Joey.Too many to pull a lure, when i got to the squid grounds the loose weed down there was horrible,so i went straight round to the north of Palm outside. Was a bit rough in there so i went out about 1 klm. and picked up fish on the sounder, but they were all small stuff which i threw back.but i stuck it out and after a couple of hours the fishfinder went mad with a procession of fish that looked like they would never end.I got 3 nice bream and a morwong.then i ran out of bait that i had caught them on, it was big green Prawns that i had saved from xmas Dinner.the only bait i had then was chicken gut i had in the freezer for yonks. It started to cut up a bit rough so i made my way back inside, and on the way i noticed some movement from the centre consul, the weld had broken at the port side where it is welded to the outer shell and i now have 3 slots right through the boat, which tend to let water in when i am not on the plane. When i got back to B. H. Icouldnt believe how many trailers were there, when i went for my trailer i had a notice from P. W. L S. saying i owed them $11 in 14 days. I read the note and pensioners are free so i went in and they cancelled it and gave me a tempory pass and i filled in a form and they are going to send me Permanent pass,so that turned out o.k.BTW the fish were Delicious Ben.
  22. Hi Darryl and Heckendorf. top report lads must have been a surprise to see a boat like that in the Hawks. The pictures are really good .Shame the fishing wasnt the best but thats how it goes sometimes.Ben.

    Bar Crossings

Bluecod. If the bar can do that to a boat the people in the boat are very lucky to be alive,it must have been terrifying. Ben.
  24. Hi Darryl . Nice bream ,very clear camera shot, what make of camera.Looks a perfect day Ben.
