  1. That is a beauty Ankles, did you use a witches hat or did it take a bait. Bloody legs on it like Cyd Charise, you young ones wont remember her . Ben.
  2. Hi. If you suspect you have any water through condensation in your tank a bottle of metholated spirits will take care of it. Ben.
  3. Top report Hookam,Shame about the bloody spearos. Those Cobia are great eating ,my son has cooked them up for me, and i enjoyed them very much. Keep reports like that coming.Ben.
  4. That was a very nice report, you wont go far wrong if you carry on fishing together.(essentiel that she becomes proficeint at baiting up.) Just incase you hurt your hand. Ben.
  5. Just a wild guess(Broughton Island from the north side. Ben.
  6. A big thank you to a late phone call from Darryl, who offered me a days fishing with him on the Hawksbury. We met at about 5 35 am.at the Bobbin Head boat ramp, arriving at the same time.We started off with three lines out for a troll for Taylor,Darryl boated one before very long, then i dropped one through being too keen to get it onboard, lesson learned. We then motored down to the Palm Beach secret spot. (Well i will keep it secret for a while) as i boated my first squid,After Darryn boated one, on his second cast,He put me right on what i was doing wrong, then bingo i had lost my squid virginity. It was a great feeling. We then went to have a try for Jews at Juno Point,it was quiet, and then the wind got up a bit so we moved up towards Bobbin Head and called it a day.Your a top bloke Darryl and thank you for a good days fishing,I did what i said, a shower then into bed for a late afternoon kip. Ben.
  7. Very good Ken,makes you wonder why no one thought of that before,it is a big help, well done again. Ben.

    My Boat

Way to go Bob,hope you have many happy outings in her,and you have trouble getting rid of the smell of fresh fish, every time you start to clean her when you get home. Ben.
  9. Hi Big Pete. I have a revolving seat,it was a computer seat,i have it so it just clears the live bait esky when it swivels.I mostly stand up when under way,but it is bloody lovely to sit in and swivel to where you want to be at any time.I would not worry about sitting down when under way as that would put too much stress on the pedestal especially if it was a bit rough. Ben.
  10. Hi Jimbo. Thanks for that, you made a lot of sense. To get the location of the hole in the axel with the centre of the spring, you would have to take the centre bolt out and put it back in the opposite way,and the U Bolts would have to be reversed as well i think. Ah well just lost it. Ben.
  11. . Hi all. What is the differance between putting your leaf springs on the axel or under the axel. How would you know which way to go if you were building a new trailer, not that i am but i have just put some new springs on and i thought they went on much easier under the axel where before they were on top. Ben. P. S. Looking foreward to some advice.

    Engine Controls!

Well done Joe, That is one hell of a differance, pity the delivery time has to be so long, but it surely is worth it.Good onya. Ben.
  13. Hi i put grease nipples on my trailers years and years ago,I pump about 4 pumps of grease in about every 6 times i take the boat out,I never change the bearings and i have never had a problem. I suggest you try this method, and for peice of mind, just check the bearings every so often, then you will see that it is o.k. to leave well alone.
  14. Wakd. If you have a problem controling it,try putting the leccy in reverse while going forward.Ha Ha Great outfit Mate.  Ben.
  15. It really is poor buisness sense,as they will have to do the job eventually, Did they keep in touch with you on a regular basis, to keep you imformed,of the reasons for the delays,or did they just wait for you to contact them repeatedly. If its the latter they want a kick up the bum. Ben.
  16. Hi . Years ago when i was bread vendoring,i got a bad load of fuel and i called in at a service station and the lady there said here tip this in the tank ,it was a bottle of methalated spirits. It took the water out and i never had a problem after that, but i always carried a bottle in the truck.Has anyone else heard of this. Ben.
  17. Dont hesitate put the bloody anchor out straight away, it is not such a big job to pull it in,if i am anchored near rocks i always start the motor first before pulling the anchor,It is a safety thing. Ben.
  18. All the very best Joe,wish i could have been there,i have four voting reatives over there at Blacktown, told them to give you a go. Ben.
  19. Good advice Grantm  Ben.
  20. Hi Bluecod. will be going out next tues. I will post a report on the outcome of having dropped it,i have also eased the bolt off to allow it to kick up if it touches bottom  Ben
  21. Hi Chaps. My sons mate has a big plate boat with 2 95 Johnsons (i think they are.) but it is irrelavant to the question, i was always of the idea that the best economy you can get out of a boat, is get up on the plane ,and then back off the throttle until it starts to go down in the water a bit, then give it a bit more to get back up.And that was your most economical running. However the mate insists that the most economical running is 4000 revs. on the clock, Which do you chaps reckon is the best way,or is there another way,Will be interested to hear a few reports on this one. thanks in advance.
  22. Hi.Very good point Jimbo,I was probably going by the book which obviously tell little porky,s at times.Joe the one i have is a navman and they say in the book not through the hull,i will stick with it as it is ,because it makes sense to do the fish finding at slower speeds. Thanks for the input chaps. Ben.
  23. Hi Chaps. Joe hit the nail on the head,it is a bit too dirty when under way on anything over about double walking speed, say 7klm.an hour.It is very good at rest or moving slowly. If i have it on at say 20 klm.an hour it goes blank and all the warnings go off for depth. Thanks for the input Joe, Ankles, Jimbo. Will try to get down the 40mm. will post any differance. Ben.

    Transducer

Hi. This is a photo of the transducer on my boat,if you look carefully i have tried to show the bottom of the boat by dropping the front of the trailer, does that transducer look to be in the right position.I hope this bloody picture comes out o.k. Ben.
  25. HI Markd. I always Drill 2 holes, to take 2 grease nipples, in the grease cap on the end of the axel. Every 3 time i have it in salt water i give it about 6 pumps with the grease gun, I have never had a bearing let me down, touch wood.Once a year i will take the boat off to do abit of maintenance on the rollers etc. And that is the only time i touch the bearings,by the way i have never had to replace wheel bearings on a boat trailer. Ben.
