  2. hi all just wondering if you can use silencer on merc 4stroke 60hp efi ,i always used on my 2stroke but was about to put on and flush on the 4stroke and wondered where will the water go that comes out the prop hub when flushing without silencer so thought id ask you guys first as i dont want to put water into head when flushing if it goes there or where does it go .does anyone have any idea if good to use or not on 4strokes ,hope somebody might know .cheers guys see you out there.
  3. a little test i would do is remove thermostat and turn tap on with engine not running and see if water gets upto the thermostat housing if so all good to there ..next test i would do is follow telltale hose back to where it connects to engine and remove blow through hose to check if telltale is clear if clear all good there .and so just process of elimation, proberly do telltale hose check first ,sounds like there might be a blockage there ,otherwise ask heuy hopefully only little problem. cheers dunc333
  4. hi guys and (huey).well head was removed and all clear (checked all jackets),so not much left to check so we all thought,so mech decided to remove water intake covers on lower leg and have a look inside.well unbeleivable corrosion and some thought of growth in there. now gear box coming off maybe even powerhead to try and get this corrison out of lower water intake and treat so it looks like we might have a solution to my old mates problem ,we hope to test it on weekend if ready, will keep you all posted, has anyone one had this corrosion growth before and what would cause this?the motor has all ways been flushed after every use, cheers dunc333
  5. lasty i have had a handheld for the last 5 years (gme27 mhz) and bought it so could remove easliy from boat as boat was parked on road ,so i know i would have 1 when i needed id it cost by memory around $200 then i have had no probs with it,the range is good for about 2kms ,but you can remove arial from it and normal 27 meg arial screws right on and increases range to a normal radio,it takes 9 aa batteries which last for 3 or 4 fishing trips ,the trick with mine is i take the 3 batteries out when at home so not to drain batts ,im sure the new ones would be more advanced ,cheers dunc333

crazed fish dude i read this and this and im actually gobsmacked what i read ,so first of all after first mechanic could not reslve prob he was sent to the tohatsu dearler in sydney ,alexander botany way and coffed atleast $300.00 there told prob fixed, but it wasnt ,when put in water again ,so tohatsu dealer said he contacted japan and they had no answers ,so he sent him to a mechanic in the picnic poit area ,he turned a screw and all was good again up and down the river for 15mins so he paid him and thought all was good till next fishing day, same prob ,then next 2 mechs check work that had been invoiced had been done which they said it had ,and paid them and said all was well ,but next in water same prob ,thanks again for your insight fish dude ,sounds bad ,but i dont know how i can tell the old bugger about all this info you showed me ,where do i send him

hi fellow raiders,a pensioner mate in my fishing club needs some help with his tohatsu 140 96 model,it runs fine for first 3km then alarm will come on and it cuts back two 2 cylinders and blows steam ,it only happens at 3200rpm and above,if you cut it back down to 2600 rpm it runs fine.it has been to 4 outboard mechanics and ,it now has new thermostat, impellor, water pump, has had scews turned etc,and spent a fair bit of cash and problem keeps coming back.so i ask fellow raiders to help my old mate out as no one can seem to solve this problem, heuy hope you see this and can help and interested to hear if any one else has ha d this problem cheers dunc 333.
