  1. Thanks alot for the information. I think that I can feel a sore throat coming on right about now!!!! Sorry boss too sick to come in Friday! Which groyne? Surprising those blackies didn't take the worms. Certain times of the year I have been unable to get them on the weed, instead taking squirt worms.
  2. High kick back into the first 4 hours of the run out. Fished the far end of the walk and into the start of the mangrove area. Before that the 30 metre portion of the walk was barren for bites. Fished nearly right on the bottom on or about 8 feet where the better fish seemed to be. Higher up the water column was where the smaller fish were. Water quality seemed good. I have never seen so much bait passing by. No wonder it is meant to be a good spot for Jewies at some times of the year.
  3. Afternoon Fishos, spent a good couple of hours down at Lamberth Park catching a few late season blackfish. The green weed at Kelso park was so thick that it almost looked like a lawn. However the weed was quite soft and broke easily under pressure. First throw out saw me hook up and land a nice 40cm blackie who fought it out down deep for almost 5 minutes before giving up. While not a PB it was the biggest Georges River blackfish I have caught. Ended up with about 12 and kept 3 (40, 35, 34) for table. Photos??? Work with me I am just getting used to the digital camera technology!!! Couldn't help but notice that the smaller fish came around not long after we has started to burley. I asked a question to the forum about braided lines for blackfishing before. I was told to go and try for myself. My tip goes like the song "Now I'm a believer!!!" A guy further down the walk caught himself a little horse of a silver trevally which easily would have been 1.5kgs. Biggest one I have ever seen caught up that far into the Georges. Must be a good sign.
  4. I remember fishing as a young punk at the Enterance and taking a few very nice looking bream on red Snakes Alive. It was my worm imitation!!!! Also got a few good fish on Lolly Bobble Bliss Bombs for those people old enough to remember them. Anyone who can't, think candy popcorn. Apologies for the product recognition if we are not sponsored by Allens!!!
  5. I hear your point however I think we should look at the number of practicalities. The odds are this person is most probably not going to be able to afford the fines in the first place eventhough as a first offence they most probably will be 2/5's of F&^% All. Jail would unfortunately not even be considered an option for a crime of this nature and if it was the sentence would most probably served concurrently. Pity! Lets also have a look at the other people that could have been injured by the callous and repeated if not caught, actions of this person. 1. Those fishermen that earn a living from the river taking us recreational fishos to catch the big flathead and bream in the waters. 2. The tourism dollar plumeting because of the lack of fish in the system. 3. The environment - with a net of that size pulverising and removing all the sea grasses and cover like they did to Botany Bay for so many years. 4. The sad faces on those kids who sit and fish for hours and not get anything. 5. The sad look on my face when I don't get to see and hear Hodgeys great stores and tips. I'm not saying this person should be thrown in jail and have the key thrown away - they should have to make restitution to those persons who could and would have been adversly affected by their actions. The fishos, the fishing clubs, the Tourism Parks the kids and the environment. Make these people realise the consequences of their actions.
  6. Fished there in 2001 at the time of the September 11 attacks in Amercia. Only got a chance to go out once with Jack. Trip was amazing - trevally to 5kgs 2kg nannygai, big cod and kings ooooohhh boy big kings. Got two 21 and 19kgs respectively. Thought they were taking the piss when we were using 100 pound line, needed every pound of it. Took me nearly half and hour to bring the biggest hoodlum to the boat and that was with the old man's help. If I ever got the chance I would go back in a heart beat. Want to fish for pigs and silver drummer on the other side of the island next time. 20 pound line straight through sometimes doesn't stop them. Now that is adrenalin pumping fishing.
  7. With all this rain around I'm not too sure how long it will last for. It seems to die off pretty quickly when it rains this hard. I think it is because the waters get muddied so quickly with a big fresh into the river. Good luck!!! The good thing about getting weed at this location is it is only another 5 minutes before you are fishing a Lambert Park or a number of other good locations.
  8. Very interesting I will definitely use some of these techniques in the future. I have already spooled a reel with braid so it will simply be a quick change. Not a big fan of having to pay for the line mind you. I don't mind telling people where I get my bait from. At times when it is really growing you can get enough bait for a weekends solid fishing in two throw outs of a grappling hook. What s****s me is when someone comes and takes bucket loads which you know they could never use in a month of Sundays. So there you go a question and a whinge in the one thread, I must be on a roll!!!!
  9. Evening Fishraiders, after two trips which ended up in big fat doughnuts on the blackfishing campaign over the last two weeks, we decided to end the famine at Lugarno and Illawong and tried shooting fish in a barrel. That's right we fished at Lambert Reserve!!! An early start at Illawong saw absolutely nothing except for a school of catfish passing by. In desperation we made our way to Lambert Reserve expecting to fish shoulder to shoulder with everyone else. I decided that sleep was higher on the cards than fishing so between 9 and 12 i checked my eyelids for leaks in the sun in the car. Big mistake!!! The old man got about 10 in that time. All of them legal and some of them to 35cm. By the time I decided to fish there were 6 in the bag!!! Furthermore the old man had the boardwalk all to himself!!! My day consisted of one bite and one fish that went hard before the bite stopped at 1:30pm. 100% strike rate!!! The fish were fat and full of Kelso Park weed. Enough of my gloating, a question: Is anyone at the moment using braided line to fish for blackies??? There was a guy we were watching some time back who was using this braided line which floated and he could not help but catch fish. For me I like the stretch of monofilament but I am a fence sitter and interested in hearing about how other people fish for the illusive blackfish.
  10. Well done boys. If you look closely in the 6th and 7th picture, you can see the first two pontoons where we fish all the time. It's good to have friends in nice places who like to fish. Last October we got an 8kg jewfish there and when cleaned he had a few blackfish heads inside!! When the blackfish are running we have sometimes pulled 100 in a days fishing there fishing three feet off those pontoons. We have it down to a fine art, whippy 7 foot rods, floats that only need one bean of lead, 6 pound straight through, and those deadly sqaure shaped hooks. Prefer to use spinning reels but that's only cause I suck at using the centre pins. Seems that the better ones come around dusk, do you find that too?
