  1. Yeah Guys, it was a top weekend A couple of rough heads and a couple of small bass ... Low tide at Glenbawn ... plenty of parking at the ramp though Just so it won't be 3 years before I return ... we could organise a Fishraider Social at Glenbawn?
  2. Took of with my Brother-in-Law for a camping, fishing and drinking weekend at Glenbawn. It's been 3 years since we were there last and the first thing we saw was the tide had gone out quite a ways After setting up camp it was 8.30pm and time for a few Slow start to saturday (dunno why) got us fishing at 8am ... scored 2 nice Bass at 30cm in under an hour and thought it would be a great weekend ... 9 more hours produced only one small Bass a lost lure ... it was the only one that produced fish that morning (isn't it always the way) and while trying desperatly to unhook it with my tackleback, the rope snapped Sundaaay ... we were awake at 5.30 and fishing the back of the lake before 6.00 and what a difference, loads of hits with some fish leaping from the water as they took the shallow trolled Tilsans. Boated 6 fish before 9am most around the 30cm mark and headed back for breakfast. No luck later in the day so we headed home with 9 for the weekend and a couple between us for taste testing. There was a fishing comp happening and there are some great fishing rigs out there ... also plenty of ski boats that look a million $$ ... the Poly had them all looking and at the ramp we overheard a few saying "wish my boat was that easy to load on a trailer!" You're going to have to wait for the pics ... but I will post them as soon as I get 'em.

    Which Outboard

Best I can do is ... Find out how much a 140 Suzuki 4 stroke from site sponsor Yabbie Marine is before you decide. Good luck

    Wat To Do

You could call a Boat Dealer in the area, they would always have an empty trailer lying about and would love to help you out ... ... it's a chance to sell you a new trailer so why not?
  5. A gutter is where the water runs away from the beach ... it is usually calmer water (no waves) OR, Go hire a tinnie and fish the Hacking
  6. A day out fishing with the Old Man .... PRICELESS .. .. ..

    Battery Problems

Do you have an isolator switch for the battery? Something could be drawing current when the boat is not in use.

    Four Or Two Stroke

Resale value would be much better with a 4/ or new generation 2/ I have an Etec and would not swap it. Saw a Merc Verado 150hp the other day and it was gynormous ... bigger than a 250 4/
  9. If I had a video of when the windsurfer went flying it would be worth big $$$ It was amazing my rod didn't break and I highly recommend the Shimano Stradic Spin for jagging windsurfers Jetskiers are on the wanted list but I don't have a game chair I can guarantee that one day a kite surfer will hit a boat at speed and do some major damage to himself ... the poor boatie is doing 4 knots in atrocious conditions while the kitesurfer is doing 30 knots in the same conditions ... and the boatie will be in the wrong for not giving way The nippers worked a treat for the first time in ages ... all fish were very healthy and delicious (I can still see that bloke smashing himself after I tripped his board)
  10. Congrats to Crazedfisherdude .. it was a seal in Botany Bay a couple of weeks ago. My deckie lost his hat last Friday, so he needs a new one ... I do need a better camera but not a black Honda Civic
  11. Launched on Friday arvo at 4pm to give RodHolder a ride in the Etec ... while my deckie was pumping some nippers All went as expected ... Steve was blown away by the Poly/Etec and my mate got around 30 nippers Getting out into the bay was a challenge in 20knot wind, but the Poly took it in stride and we were soon anchored in 2 metres of water that was occasionally washing over the bow and dragging the anchor ... the wind increased and we decided that if the fish didn't show in the first 30mins we were gone. 30mins later and my deckie was leading 4-0 with bream to 34cm. Had to move after the anchor pulled again and just as the deckie got out the dreaded bannana, my bream rod got smashed ... 15mins later the bannana was history and there was a 60cm Salmon in the net ... great fun on light gear The bite shut down so we moved to a more sheltered spot and got 4 more bream to 40cm and a nice trevor. As the trevor was hooked (by the deckie) some bloke on a windsurfer decided to come within 10m of our stern to get a closer look ... by bream rod went screaming as he snagged the line at around 30 knots, reeling off 70m of fireline in seconds ... picked up the rod and grabbed the spool and struck just before the backing line ... silly thing to do, but in the heat of the moment these things happen ... anyway, this bloke got SMASHED like someone had pulled the nose of his board underwater My leader parted and I got all but the hook back. This bloke wasn't far away from us and looked sick and sorry ... so after landing the trevor and another bream we were just about to go and see how badly off he was when he took off across the bay ... with my hook We'd had enough of the washing machine and had ourselves a feed so we headed home Here's the pic ...
  12. Ahhh ... that nutso You could try changing the angle on the transducer. I would also reset it to factory default settings and if it still does it ... off to Lowrance for a checkup Or, someone else may have an idea
  13. Hi Nautilus and Does it have a depth alarm that is set for 20 feet Do you have the manual for it?
  14. Hey Swoffa, Can I come fish with you? Then I can steal ... er ... scab from your suply of plastics I have plenty but I don't lose enough to justify buying more than a packet at a time.

    Engine Size

Hey Coach, We hit a 3 foot Koppers log at around 50kph in the Poly ... it crunched into the hull like a torpedo and bounced off ... hardly made a mark ... not counting the undies Lucky it missed the outboard 'cause that would have been very messy
  16. Thanks WetPatch Rodholder, you can come for a ride as soon as we can arrange it

    Engine Size

I would also go for max horsepower ... you buy a motor that is to small and you will regret it. A 40hp will tow a kneeboard or tube, but may struggle with a skier ... or maybe not, it depends on the hull and a lot of other factors like weight ... you will have to try it to know. Good luck
  18. C'mon Pedro give us a nibble ...
  19. It's on again tonight at 9.30pm
  20. I had a 40hp Honda for over 2 years with zero issues ... sounds like a wiring problem, has he added anything electrical lately?
  21. Thanks Pedro, I have been expecting you

    New Bits

Sure Deek, I sent you a PM.
  23. These guys are nuts ... 4 days on almost zero sleep in the Bearing Sea out from Alaska, setting up to 280 crab pots that are big enough to sleep four Chipping ice off the boat with a sledge hammer in your spare time, trying not to fall overboard or let the boat sink like 42 ships did in that sea last year. THE most dangerous job in the world ... the ex-navy seal instructor is almost destroyed after the first 8 hours ... resorting to eating raw liver to keep going $40,000 for each crew member ... if they do well ... I'll be watching it next week
