    Polycraft

Hi nightangel, What a great idea The center console would work with a cabin built forward ... a bit of design work and away you go. Buy the hull with whatever you want from the factory options and then do your own mods. These hulls are very easy to work on, just drill a pilot hole and use coarse threaded stainless screws to fix anything. OR, if you can find someone with a plastic welder and the skill to use it ... anything is possible. Good luck and keep us informed
  3. Getting it right the first time is very hard work There will be nothing to indicate damage to an engine with the injection turned off, providing the oil has been mixed properly for the life of the motor. The failure is with the injector ... the classic "20 dollar" part that can destroy your 10 thousand dollar motor. This is why manufacturers will have them disconnected, and MANY people don't trust them once the warranty period is over. Buyer beware and all that Rob. "Take a bex and have a good lie down"... is something my old Granny used to say.
  4. Grant, I was very tempted to say the Etec rules and hijack Rob's post ... but I refrained . . . OK ... they rule The DVD I got from BRP in the States has a bit where the oil line is cut and the computer puts the motor into safe mode and allows you to get home will have to call the RUDE quit line for me ... AGAIN Sorry Rob ... that Grant is a bad influence
  5. A caravan recently jumped off the towball down near Fishermans Paradise resulting in a double fatality Had my old trailer jump off the towbar outside Yabbie Marine .. very embarrasing ... but no real damage. Propper adjustment is great, but this saftey pin will help too ... A padlock will also work if it will fit
  6. Been there If injectors fail on a particular model and motors start to detonate .... the manufacturer will issue instructions to all dealers to remove it. This saves them $$$ on warranty repairs. ... I had the dealer disconnect it on a new Johnson 25hp at the first service ... then it's mix your own fuel, or there is no warranty
  7. C'mon Ozy Clutch, the video is very informative ... a mate in the states sweet talked a BRP lass into exporting a couple down under for me Take care who you lend the dvd to ... one of mine has been out on loan a month and just won't come home Grantm, mine is the first 60hp Etec registered in Australia. The vibration keeps on even when trimmed out a fair way .... maybe after the 10 hour computer controlled break in it will settle ... 10 hours won't take long Been out three times now and enjoying it more each time.
  8. Thanks Mick, I will give that a go Ozy now that I have been shown how it should be done, I realize I have been far to timid in the past ... So ... who's game

The 6 month "old" Poly with the long awaited new 60hp Evinrude Etec
  11. My Evinrude Etec 60hp is finally here after a 6 month (seemed a lot longer ) delay. This motor is the first one registered in Aus. First trip yesterday in 20 to 30 knot breeze was an amazing ride through some terrible conditions with myself and Ozy doing some test driving Replacing the 50hp Suzuki/Johno Fourstroke with the 60hp Evinrude Etec 2 Stroke was a big step up in power and torque. The 50 proved itself to be a great motor but this hull and this owner are glad to have waited for the Etec Ozy was substituted for Eric from Yabbie Marine who was kind enough to show me how scared a Polycraft owner can be ... while still remaining on top of Botany Bay ... he was enjoying himself AND I did ask him to show me what it could reallly do ... The poly is an even safer, softer, drier and more comfortable ride that I had thought possible. This is a VERY forgiving hull when you have enough power ( and confidence ) to attack even the worst conditions. While the Etec is very quiet like the fourstroke it does vibrate a LOT more at idle ... enough to rattle the anchor chain and landing net ... if I do a lot of trolling the rattles may drive me crazy End result is ... I am very happy .... Eric is happy that I am very happy, but being a Suzuki dealer he's not very happy Hey Ben .... want to go for a ride?
  12. But ... the second test is on ... With luck it will rain for the first session so I can watch the Marlin and the Poms can sweat a little longer
  13. That's my next project right there! Good stuff Pogo
  14. My Dad and I don’t get together much, he travels a lot and plays heaps of golf and lawn bowls. Most of my spare time I am busy with kids sport and as much fishing as I can fit in. This leaves family get togethers, birthdays etc. SO, today I took a day off work, the Old Boy had a day away from the greens and we hit Botany Bay at 9am ... a 10 knot breeze and overcast conditions had me a little concerned, so we didn’t venture far from the boat ramp. Soaking a few prawns produced a little snapper first up … followed by a couple of small flathead, the Old Boy’s handline was on FIRE ! The wind died and the sun came out, turning the morning perfect. The bite shut down, but we didn’t care … the day was just brilliant. Sitting there on dead quiet water with the sun warming us like toast ….. About an hour later another small snapper broke the spell, then came a chopper tailor, the bite again shut down and the Old Boy was just dozing off when a cruiser wake rocked the boat and we realised it was 12 o’clock … time to go. No fish to clean, no pics of the day, no calls on the mobile, no beers … and no way I will ever forget this day. Dad ( THE Old Boy) is 71 years young. 3/8/05

The Frontrunner 4.55 is available as a cuddy cabin, centre console, bow rider or open boat. Some hull

    Electrolysis

Here's how I understand it ... Corrosion is what the sacrificial annodes on the outboard are to die for, least noble metal goes first. Electrolysis is the oxyidation of alluminium ... this happens to all exposed surfaces AND under poorly quality paintwork, the paint will bubble. If you get a painted hull, get a coat of EPOXY undercoat to help insulate the metal. Best way to speed both processes up would be to leave the battery switched on Use a battery isolator
  17. Sounds like the wing style may have some problems Bluebottle, any warranty concerns should be directed to the manufacturer.

    Alloy Or Glass

It was love at first sight for Scott with my old boat ... I don't blame him though Only thing bugged me with that boat was the electrolysis, did everything in my power to keep it looking great and the paint starts to bubble anyway I am going to paint an old alloy hull at work this week just to see how much better a real etch/primer/2 pack paint job will be compared to the oneshot powdercoat most manufacturers supply. Poly is a better way ... for a new boat Ready to demo mine anytime ... any excuse
  19. Hi bluebottle, I have fitted Permatrims to a 25hp 2stroke and a 40hp 4stroke ... they will help to keep water over the prop. That said, I would try changing the height/trim/prop before drilling holes in your outboard

    Alloy Or Glass

Hi Buster 1, Had the same chioce earlier this year and went with the Polycraft 4.55 ... zero regrets If you want to take a ride ... just say the word ... Shire boy too
  21. 1 big thing, Better boats / motors. 1 little thing, Circle hooks
  22. Article in the St George and Sutherland Shire Leader newspaper yesterday reads ... June 1965 Amateur fishermen are organising a massive protest in a bid to have Botany Bay closed to professional fishermen. Hurstville retailer Dan Daly, who is organising the protest, said they have tried to ban professional fishermen from the bay before, but this time they had more support. What fish were in the bay should be left for amateurs, he said. ......... Dan Daly was 37 years ahead of his time. Cajun has informed me that Dan owned Bluefin Sports but sadly has long since passed away.
