  1. Yeah, it was nice to get a few fish. We stayed at the RSL hoilday units, mates a memeber and got a great deal, $300 for 4 days for 4 people. Nice and handy to town, we walked everywhere.(that sucks) but it was supposed to be doing me good? Fished up near Forster keys and just over the bridge near the leases on the Tuncurry side. Couldn't get anywhere up the breakwall , it was too blowy. But as I said had a great time, and the SS Crewman got 11.55 ltrs per 100 km or 21 MPG, which makes me happy, with a 350 Chev and Auto getting that milage, something I could never achieve when I was younger. 2. Took the tribe up to Forster for 4 days of R&R, with a mate and his tribe. Have got to say I havent been up there for yonks and it was a pretty easy 4 hour run even with a tucker stop. Anyways we set up the girls and the blokes grab some bait and off we go into the Wallis Lakes, lots of little pickers on prawns and whitebait. We got a couple of small tailor so we stripped them and chucked out just to see what would happen. Well hang on cause the flatties were in the mood for some FRESH bait, in an hour we got 6 keepers and the same amount again that we released that needed to grow up Saturday, same plan and same result, another flattie feast, the best one of the weekend going just over 4 pounds, everyone happy. Then it bucketed down, we got the most rain in NSW on Sunday. Not to worry , great weekend, great company and some good fishing to boot. I think we have already planned another weekend away, this time the blokes only and I cant wait. CYA Geoff
  3. Thanks guys, keep the info coming, have a 5m runabout thingie, wii be fishing 3 up, cant wait. The more info the better. CYA Geoff
  4. Hi all Going to Forster soon for the first time and need some help on where we might be able to get amongst it. Using SP's and light gear, looking for the usual stuff, bream, flatties, whiting and maybe jew. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Geoff
  5. Hey Swordfisherman, What did you buy, I spoke to em on the phone Friday arvo & they said they were fitting out another 6 m next week, is that your deal? CYA Geoff
  6. I did think that they would be a bit lighter but that is not a big issue. Delivery time is about 8 weeks which I dont mind either. It's just that this is a fair investment and I need to get it right cause I wont be able to just buy another one. I want this to ba a fun thing and be able to take a couple of mates out if I want to, hence the 5.99 instead of the 4.55. I did laugh at the 4.55 specs, carry 4 people at an average weight of 75 kg Any two of the mob that I call mates wii pin the total weight limit Anyways thanks for your replies, the exact quotes should come through today so we see which way we will go. CYA Geoff
  7. G'day. i am looking at purchasing a Polycraft (plastic) 5.99m Cuddy Cab. I don't know anyone who has fished or thrashed one so I am asking anyone here who has had a go on what they are like. Will be used for Hawkesbury out to East Reef, Port Stephens out to Broughton and Culburra and out a ways, sometimes even the tribe will want to come so it needs to have a little comfort. Any help would be appreciated. CYA Geoff
  8. G,day, after all the help I had getting the right? SP's we set off an sun-up from Appletree bay with high expectations. After about five minutes we saw a huge commotion in a little bay and went in for a squizz. Bloody great kingfish had a school of small somethings trapped in about three feet of water. Time for the SP, I had a 3" Squidgie that really attracted the Kingies but the suckers would not hit the SP, the water was clear and we watched them chase the SP and everything else in frustration for ten minutes before they disappeared. The rest of the day was a learning curve for me on SP, got two strong hits but no hook-ups. Went up the back of Waratah Bay in the shallows and watched many different species of fish react favourabily to the SP by chasing them back to the boat, they were only very small but still showed interest. Next time out Anzac day for another go, still a good day out. CYA Geoff
  9. Just got back from Australian Bass Angler at Penrith, Mick was the salesman and the service was great, plus I knew him from my other life. I had a list taken from the great advice offered by all here and he was able to fix me up, with lots of good advice, and I got the 10% Fishraider discount. Great deal and very happy, even more happy if we hook in tomorrow. Thanks again to all the Fishraiders for your advise. CYA Geoff
  10. Thanks heaps for the replies so far. The Australian Bass Angler shop is only 15 minutes away so they will get my hard earned $$$ tomorrow. Thanks again and I'll try and slip in a report after the event. Since I am new to this deal are you allowed to uphold the reputation of fisho's the world over and ssstttrrreeetttccchhh the truth in the reports??? CYA Geoff
  11. G'day all, A couple of us are going boating from Appletree bay Sunday morning, first time at the SP caper. Never been an SP user before so I gotta have a spend, but I got no idea what i need. Will be fishing from the boatramp out to Flint n Steel, depending what we can catch. Target fish are Bream, Flathead and Jewfish, plus whatever else is stupid enough to get caught ANY suggestions will be appreciated and even where to purchase from, I am not a big fan of the Kmart deal. Any local shops would be great. Thanks in advance for the help. CYA Geoff
