  1. love your work gary cheers arman
  2. that setup isnt the best for offshore work,if your going new im sure the manufacturers can weld in a well with out too much dramas but it could take up a bit of deck space, but in saying that my mate has a 4mt hornet with that setup transom and i cant remember anywater coming through it and we have done some coastal downrigging in it ,it always seemed to float up and out of the way of the slop, and that has a heavy motor on it 40 yamie four stroke only way to be sure get them to take you for a run in it and that will be the only way you could judge how it would go cheers arman
  3. go the mullet,we had 3 makos uup managed to blow 2 of them,1 stripie,2 albi and bagged on gemies thank god for the bities ah mate as its tough out there and as for the blue ,your a worry, few flying fish today did you where your helmut cheers arman
  4. ive got to admit mike when i seen this post, first thing i thought was WHAT i didn't post anything ,lol im getting old cheers arman
  5. i use a small snap swivel, and for a cube i use about three quarters of the pillie,i always remove the tail to reduce twist and it doesnt matter how you strip back as long as the line doesnt come up tight,ie pull line off the reel before the line tightens to the rod either way of holding the rod is ok ,most important thing if you leave it in the rod holder is to have a little bit of drag ,tiny bit ,to prevent an overun when you get a strike cheers arman
  6. the one thing that will save a trailer is to wash it down after you launch your boat ,and then a thoroughly wash when you get home after fishing, use a one of those garden sprayers, only takes two minutes, still a pain but the results speak for them selves a mate of mine has been doing this for years ,after 10 years his trailer looks good ,no rust ,mine is ready for replacement i believe the damage gets done at the ramp,as i fish sunup to sun down most days i will be doing this when i get a new trailer cheers arman

  10. Jerry thanks very much for the info ,can you tell us what the carpeted skids are like for drive on,s always had multi roller trailers,to be honest they worry me a bit i once drove a boat onto one of those bunk type arrangement trailers after the owner was struggling,it sort of felt a bit sticky and needed a fair bit of throttle to get it up,it was about 23- 25ft though that's my only experience and punchin2 ,thanks mate ive have justin,s details,he is certainly prompt with replies to my questions cheers arman

  13. hi folks im going to need a new trailer for my tub i9n the next 12months,and a mate is up for one now,and ive been looking at most manufacturers came across the peterson trailers all alloy bolted construction,ie no welds and no cracks, with skids not rollers,4 wheel disk brakes not two like most stainless bolts not gal sounds ok only thing is there in victoria and im sydney based, befoe making the trip down what im wondering is 1# do any of you good folk have any of these trailers ,what are your experiances 2# and i have always had rollered drive on trailers, does anyone here have a skid drive on trailer and what are your experiance,s thanks cheers arman

  19. i know the jm reels have the drag washers on either side of the spool and they dont jam under load like other lever drags do cant speak for the acurates cheers arman
  20. i have to agree with the boys in regards to the slow ratio ,its much much easier on the body i have mainly jigged with spin but i also have a overhead avet 2speed matched to a saltiga rod why i mention this when you switch from high to low gear the difference is unbelievable ,just so much harder on the arms i used to like the high ration cause that's what i thought it had to be , i reckon the higher rations where better when we used those old glass 7ft broomsticks to jig with i used a tsmIII for years, had to upgrade the drag though, still not enough but my stella 8000pg is a 4.9 ratio ,no problems there at all jigging for longer catches you more fish the avets low gear is about 4 flat, again no drama,s there either the jigging master reels are the pick in my eyes the trouble with most overheads is the amount of drag they can dish out, thats why i went to a stella ,thats where the jm reels and the acurates ,excel, twin drag plates or something like that the evet doesn't cut it in the drag department either end of the day its your choice, and what your are comfortably with just have a look at the jm range of reels maybe a pe5 about 500 i think a mate of mine caught a 60kg yft on a pe5 jm earlier this year like i said its your choice and your money have a look and buy what your happy with what ever that is,as theirs some awesome tackle around these days cheers arman
