  1. Hi landbased I had experienced the same thing except one of the barbs broke off in the mouth of a bream. I used it again for a while and was getting hits but some failed to stay hooked. I put it down to the barb on the back treble. I went and replaced them with new trebles and rings (managed to hook myself in the process) only problem is I haven't been back out to try it out. I like the blades have caught bream, whiting, flatties on them.
  2. Hit the bay at 7am with a mate who has not fished much. Set him up a rod for plastics and he turned up to the ramp with his own bait. Went to my usual spot and the weather was sensational compared to last week just a slight breeze. Started out with a few small bites and my mate was pulling in undersize bream on prawns. Moved over to Towra area and landed three flatties 54, 40 & 38 in quick succession. My mate toiled away with his prawns (no success) and I couldn’t coax him into trying them. Tried a couple of other spots with no luck and head back in around 11am as it was my turn to mind the kids why the went out. At least I know what I am cooking for dinner. No pics forgot the camera.
  3. On the Reds they were owner trebles. Will be putting something different on. Any suggestions.???
  4. Dropped the kids to school and as the wife was working headed down the river for a flick. Arrived at 10am as the tide was going out, went to a spot that I had some success before. Spent two hours casting a tt-blade ended up with two bream (30 & 33cm), two flatheads (40 & 41cm) and a 39cm whiting which went like a steam train and put up the best fight of all. Put plenty of small ones back. Dropped a nice bream near the boat when one of the barb's on the treble broke, which now gives me an excuse to go the the tackle shop. Sorry no pics as I didn't take the camera.
  5. Got up early and checked out the window, didn't appear to be much wind so decided to go out even though strong winds were predicted. Arrived at the ramp at 6.30am and went to a spot near Kurnell where dad landed a 38cm bream in the rain last trip. Tried Satay chicken gulps for the first time, landed two nice flatheads at 40cm each. Then dad gets nailed and after a good fight lands a 40cm bream which is now his new PB. The wind the started gust and we persisted for another one hour or so for two more flatties 52cm & 43cm It was a slow trip back to the ramp into the westerly wind. At least I will be dining on flathead fillets tonight.
  6. [ bet it would suck frr someone in an open tinny though I was there in an open tinny, nothing like a few good fish to make it worth while.
  7. First fish for the month. Hit the bay this morning at 6am with the old man. Headed out to Towra with the skies looking threatening. Fished plastic's for an hour without a bite. Dad brought along some old prawns from his last trip. Baited up a second rod and left it drifting out the outside of the boat. It wasn't long before reel started screaming. I new it was a good fish as it took me around the boat twice before we could see what it was, a nice 74cm flathead. A couple of quick photo's and she was released to hopefully produce more like her. The heavens opened and it rained for the next two hours. Landed a couple of small flatties on plastics and had a decent one bust of near the boat. In the meantime Dad landed a nice 34cm bream and two 40cm flatties all on the same drift. Dad changed to his favourite pumpkin seed colour and instantly got his PB bream 38cm's. Will go nice on the BBQ tonight along with some flat head fillets. Called it a day at 11am as more storms rolled in. Was well worth the wait.
  8. Nice fish Rod where were you fishing?
  9. Awesome flattie. Well done. What colour shad were you using?
  10. The ramp depends on where you are coming from. Try around Como Bridge or a bit further up at the Moons. Hope you have a good day.
  11. Nice Flatties. What Sp did the damage.
  12. Some nice Bream & whiting jim. I fished the same area from 6am that day. Got two nice flatties (55 & 58cm) using SP. Had a prawn on a line drifting out the back and only two small bream. Left there about 9am and picked a nice flounder at Towra. I fished Brighton last week and encountered the brown weed not yesterday. Good luck next time.
  13. Nice catch. What plastic did you use?
  14. I tried Squidgy Fish Silver Fox after reading about them in a number of posts. Dad used pumpkinseed minnow.
  15. Hit the bay at 8am to fish the incoming tide with my father. Since he has retired he has lots of spare time and is always ready to go. Went to my new spot which was I recently shown. It was very calm with a small NW blowing which help our drift. Nothing on the first drift and except for being harassed by some squid. Second time around I landed a nice 52cm flattie, then dad landed a 57cm model. Just after it was landed fishers officers came and checked the catch and our licenses. Next drift I hooked onto something and as the drag started to scream it bust from the water and spat the hook. I think that it may have been a salmon, not sure but would have liked to land it. Dad then landed his PB flattie (60cm) which took a while to get into the boat. It was a nice specimen and he said looks like I’ve landed this biggest today. That was true and until five minutes later I hooked something which took me a while to get to the boat as it kept taking runs, when it got into sight dad new he was beat. Took a while to get in as every time it saw the net it would take off, as dad got the net under it the leader snapped. The jig head and plastic was lodged right down its throat and it was bleeding. Even though it measured 75cm we decided to keep her. The wind then came up and we headed home at 11.30. Took some pictures when we got home.

  17. Haven't been able to get out on the water for about 6 weeks due to transport issues. Spent valuable time reading raiders posts, picking up tips. Hit the Georges at 7am on Monday with my old man and headed to a favourite spot for a drift. Dad just purchased himself a new Shimano stradic and more plastics to try, second cast landed himself a nice 48cm flattie. I wasn't get any action so I changed to my favourite (black & gold shad) hooked something nice it had head shakes like a flattie as it near the boat it dropped off. I read in one of the posts and was told by an uncle to open the bail arm and let the lure float back down as they sometimes will have another go. Sure enough as soon as it hit the bottom one flick and I was back on. Landed a nice 46cm flattie. Over the next hour landed two more keepers. Moved to another spot to try some blades (also recently purchased) and only landed two small bream. The wind come up a bit so we headed back in satisfied with the result.
  18. Nice catch of flatties. I fished the same area recently but not with that success. What sort of plastic's where you using?
  19. Try a drift from near the end of the Wonny to where it meets the Georges at the Como Bridge or up near the Wononora Bridge. Have got a few flatties at both softs on plastics.
  20. Went for my first session of soft plastic fishing in Botany Bay on Wednesday as my uncle does not use bait and he was the guide. Took me to some of his favorite spots and after a bit of instruction on technique we were away. I have not had much success in the past and was keen to learn from him as he always seems to land a feed. It was nice early but the wind blow up. After a while I started to get the hang of it and managed to land a 46cm flattie and lost another one just near the boat. I was satisfied with my first effort and due to the wind we started to head home. Just prior to putting the boat in we did one last drift near the ramp and I landed this monster flattie. It went 76cm and weighed 3.5 kgs. Carn’t wait to get out there and try it again.
  21. Hi everyone I recently joined the site and this is my first post. I am taking the kids (9 & 7) camping in Huskisson next weekend so they can try the new rods that they got for Xmas. I have access to a tinnie to take out on the Bay, can anyone help me out and suggest spots in the area. I know from the MPA internet site that parts of the bay are sanctuary zones. We will be using a combo of bait (kids) & soft plastics, they really enjoy fishing so catching a few will maintain their enthusiasm. Belly
