  1. I can never understand when fishos use a heavier braid than leader?? I'm yet to be convinced of the merits of this. I believe you would have been a much better chance of landing whatever you hooked using 4lb fireline & 8lb yozuri pink or nitlon flouro leader. Just a thought. I have never used lighter leader than braid, & I don't know of any good fisherman that does. Cheers, Grant.
  2. Trung, get a bigger engine! You only have to sell 1/2 of your stella-nitro combos. Why do you think the 455's we fished in Weipa have 60hp's on them? ( you know you want a tiller steer.....) They even got my fat arse out of the water. Cheers, Grant.
  3. The bloke holding it must have a deformed right hand. It looks huge on such a big fish. Almost the depth of the fish. He must be a monster. Not just the size of his hand, but to hold up 60kgs.... Cheers, Grant.
  4. The last time I partied with those two I woke up with a massive headache! Great to see the girls having fun Donna. Luci is all grown up now. Unbelievable. They're wonderful people & a lot of fun! Cheers, Grant.

    Jewhunter turns 45

Thanks everyone. Your kind thoughts are much appreciated. I've just got back from an awesome seafood platter with beer & champagne over looking the Gold Coast Broadwater. Yum!! Cheers, Grant.
  7. I don't think I've ever seen Stewy smile so much! Yes, it was a fantastic trip. The big Slinky spent way too much time in the sun. A crazy pre Xmas work schedule saw Dan off his game for the first time & I have never seen that before. Stewy's excitement didn't diminish from the time we left until the time we returned. It even rubbed off on a lazy old bugger like me. Thanks for another top trip fellas. It was tough fishing & I have never seen the water so low before. The last morning session of 19 cod in a couple of hours with Stewy is one I won't forget. We once again had a barrel of laughs & it was a fitting way to end the trip. I'm glad he got to see how good it can fish. I ended up with 17 fish & the biggest for the trip. That fish would have been dwarfed by the fish that absolutley exploded on Stewy's surface lure but missed the hooks. I have never seen a bigger surface strike, & I've seen a few. I thought Slinky had done a bomb in the water, or that Stewy had fallen in. Welcome to the Cod club Stew. I had a ball once again & I'm looking forward to our next adventure. Cheers, Grant.
  8. You & Huey can take this up over the P.M system & not in the forums. There are plenty of good answers here already for the original poster. Topic closed. J.H.
  9. Go to Huey at Huett marine, http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=20476 You will get the best value for money in town even before you get your Fishraider discount. Cheers, Grant.
  10. Great story Kel & great results for all of you. It's awesome to have such good mates. Even though life has dealt him a rough hand of late, he's lucky to have such good friends. Keep it up! Cheers, Grant.
  11. I don't think you will notice too much of a noise difference at WOT. I love my 60 hp Yammie 4 stroke. The fuel efficiency is awesome & it never misses a beat. It came with my boat when I bought it. The new clean tech 2 strokes are well worth looking at as well. To be honest, if I was upgrading an old engine I would probably go to a new e-tech. Less servicing means a lot of money saved over time, but you do still have to pay for the oil they use. Huey would be the best one to give you the pros & cons of each. Cheers, Grant.
  12. We used to call the blue bands the 'black anchor'!! Every boat we ever saw broken down had one on the back. Cheers, Grant.
  13. It's Molineaux Point. Cheers, Grant.
  14. A fresh slab will do the trick. Not as good as tailor but they will eat one. Cheers, Grant.
  15. Congrats on the P.B. That's a cracker & no wonder you're smiling! Cheers, Grant.

  20. We've had some good sessions out of the Gold Coast on them. It's mainly been Autumn/Winter though. When you find them you should be able to get quite a few as they are a schooling fish. Around a full moon seems to be the best time. Just a basic 2 hook dropper rig with as light a sinker as possible. I like to use circle hooks. Fresh strips of yakka works very well as bait. Nor east winds tend to drop right out at night. Not always, but most of the time. Good luck. Cheers, Grant.
  21. Very nice rod. I'm taking it cod fishing in a few weeks so I'll let you know how it goes on them. I reckon it will be great. Here's what I think so far. http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=69884&hl=velocity Cheers, Grant.
