  1. i think any crome slices would work the ones we were using had a blue stripe down the center but stick to the small and medium sizes so they blend in with the baitfish we were using the squdigy pro soft plastics in pearl white in 90mm (i think). we just fished them the same as the crome slices just put them on light jig heads but heaver enough to cast and just rip them bak no action was needed for them. i tried the blades but no succes so i stuck with the soft plactics and cromies hope u do well on thursday if u go fisherboy
  2. we were using some crome slices then after we got busted a couple times so we changed to some soft plastics and we fished them the same as the crome slices heres a pic of the samon bustin the surface fisherboy
  3. we went out yesterday of of botany hoping to get to the peak and catch some kings but we didnt get that far. just before the head there where over 40 boats in the one spot so we went to hav a look. we soon relised that there was thousands of samon smashing up little white bait things. they were continuously moving around and comming off the boil and back on the boil. we boated 3 samon got busted off by a couple and they kept throwin hooks when they jumped. but they were fun on 6lb braid. all the samon were around the 50-65cm mark. they lasted on the boil for around a hour and a half. the only problem was just trying to continuously trying to move a berti 25 around all of these tinnys and small runabouts. and a question? why do people hav to drive on the plane stright through the school of fish because straight after people did they either moved of died of for about 10 min where any other raiders luckly enough to be there yesterday aswell fisherboy
  4. Best way to dispose of old fuel is to add premium unleaded. (So long as it does not contain water) Then burn it by going fishing. Run it through any car pre 1986 as thats when Unleaded was introduced with Cat converters. If you run it in anything with a Cat converter you are asking for expensive repairs. Good luck
  5. Internet search on callala marine or yellow pages on Jervis bay mooring contractors Both have moorings for rent
  6. the boat show is on this weekend 30th of july to 3 of august and im wondering on how many people are going i will be going on the sunday so see everone there http://www.sydneyboatshow.com.au/ fisherboy
  7. We are looking to take our boat (bertram 25) from port hacking to hawkesbury over the june long weekend Has any done this trip in our size boat and what did you think of the trip All info appreciated fisherboy
  8. ive only used gulps a couple of times and the juice of it goes every were and it realy stinks. i prefer to use the squidigy pro because they dont leak juice and they come with the s-factor and i find it helps (i dont catch much compared to the rest of u fishos). the only way i seemed to reduce the leekage was to put the gulp bag in a frezzer bags and them put them into another zip lock bag seems to hlp the leakege (but hasnt helped withe the smell) . hey chopper i got a couple of packs of the slams when they came out and i found out they leek as bad as the gulps. fisherboy
  9. hey zephi Me and my family went and overnighted on saterday night on the public morings near lilly pilly. I just had a small prawn on a jig head (i was sick of throwing plactics) and while i was having dinner the rod went of twice and the first time i got a 42cm trevaly and the second time was a 31cm bream. Other than that i had all the litte fish like 6cm snapper and little grinners. The weid thing was when i brang in the grinner up something was chasing it and when i put it back in the other fish came back. My mum caught another grinner and the same thing happend to her so i chucked a prawn at the spot where the fish were and i caught a little leatherjacket. So it dosnt matter what is leather jackets will still eat it. Another spot i can sometimes find fish is on the sand bar it self you can sometimes see hundreds of whiting there but you can never catch them. But i found that it has to be a cloudless day and nice and warm weather. good luck with the fish in port hacking fisherboy

    Shark

forliano wat gear where you running for the shark the reason for asking is because our boat is mored down at pinic point boat shed and we are fixing a couple of things so i might have a rod out the back. my heavyest rods a a trition 200 spolled with 50lb braid on a 15-25 rollar tip rod the other is a 6500 shimano baitrunner with 30lb braid on a 8-12kg(i think) rod would theses rods be even close to be able to handle it i have some frozen samon filites it the frezzer so i might have to take them down by the way did anyone actually see the shark fisherboy
  12. Any of the tcurves would do the job. You could have a look at the lucanas modle they are desigined for more of the lighter jigs (from 60-200) and a plus they have a hook keeper near the reel seat so u dont damage the guides. (not shure if it is a roller tip though) my 2 cents worth fisherboy
  13. i cant spell to save myself fisherboy
  14. me and my dad have been out the last 2 weekends out of port kelmbla and we have got a fare fue kings but most around the 55cm-60cm mark and we got some marronog at hill 60 good luck fisherboy
  15. thanks for all of your all of your replies lala we were using squidge flickbaits in the 145mm size i agree that it look a bit small in the pic to be 66 but it was 66 and it was the only one we kept (should of stated that the small ones were Released willl change now) i all ready knew that the legal length of kings are 65cm fisherboy
  16. My dad and me went back to port kembla today. On the way to the heads we saw about 15 boats on the way back to the ramp so we dident know what to expect. There was only ment to be a 1 meter swell but bit looked and felt bigger than a 2 metre We decided to say in side and drift the whole day First cast and i was on 20 seconds later i was busted off Reriged and second cast a was on again and boated this one it went 66cm it the esky for dinner> And third cast i was on again and it went 57(was Released). At this point my dad took my rod and said i cant fish until he caught a king. While i was riging up his rod he finally land a king it went 60cm. (so he's happy )(was Released). We set up for another drift and just as we finnish the drift and are about to move my rod goes off and i land a 59cm king(was Released). Next drift we get a double hookup and i drop my and my dads laughing as he gets busted off so im at the back . Most of the day was like that untill about 1oclock and it went quiteso we moved spots a couple of times and we watched a cargo carrer come in. We get the boat on the tralier about 2 Pics form the day. We had fun all day cant go fishing next weekend we got a weeding to go to. fisherboy
  17. the highest ratio on the shimano reels are the stadic with a 6:1 and with the dawias the higest speed is around 5:1 unless you would consider a baitcaster and you could look at the dawia td zillion with a super high speed of 7.3:1 but they dont have a very big spool and there a bit pricey around the 400-500 bucks hope this helps fisherboy
  18. thanks for the confindince were hopefully going back on saturday targeting more kings fisherboy
  19. We got up at 3:30 and left and at 4:00 to be on the water by 5:00 When we got outside is was nice and flat there was a bit of a swell but not a big one. Our first stop was at Wollongong reef as we where was told there has been fish there recently but there was nothing. we drifted for about 1hour from thee islands to land a massive leatherjacket(tonites dinner) and a bonito but as i was lifting it into the boat the knot gave way (only 6lb leader) and a couple of massive sweep and some sergeant baker they went back because we didn’t know what they were at the time. sergeant baker (correct us if we are wrong) we trolled some lures around the islands for nothing but we saw someone bring in a decent size king so we stoped close by for a bit and my first cast a king took the lure while it was still sinking and it went 54cm so back it went (my first king) my first king (went 54cm) 5 mins later another king was landed about 48 so it went back. The next stop was hill 60 it was dead flat because the islands stoped the swell. My mum picked up 3 marrong smallest 38cm biggest around 47 so there’s dinner. We lost a lot of sinkers to the reef but kept the rig that was lucky. Last stop was at the container wall as we were drifting i got busted of by a big king and we saw some one else land a rat king. To finish the day of we watched a coal ship come in then we went home after a good. We were of the ramp around 4 Forgot the camera so only got some phone pics on the day and took some pics of the end results when we got home the days catch Fisherboy
  20. the theory behind it is that it does not matter how slimly and wet your hands get you can still collaps the rod that is the reason for the ruff bit in the rod steve i saw the new tcurve flight acouple of days ago and it is very nice (cant remember wat model) fisherboy
  21. i would sign up as fisherboy but someone has taken the name already so i will thing of a name and sign up wests will win anyway fisherboy
  22. you could try the aspire it is the next one up from the tiwn power and the one under the fireblood and will cost around the $450 depends where u get it from i was having a look and it a couple of days a go and when i was trying to swhich the handles over from left to right it wastent screwing in but then i found that u hade to change the thread on the handle for it to work on the right side. (does anyone know why u would want to have that) but a stradict or a twin power will do nicely for what u are looking at using it for. fisherboy
  23. the main reason i want to make a rod is mainly because i want to try it and like the idea of doing the binding colours of your favorite footy team (west tigers). i had a quick look at some sites that sell all the parts like guides reel seets and buts and some of the cork and camo handles get expencive like it was $160 for just the reel seat pack which comes with the reel seat grips and a butt. but ovcourse u get what u payfor. thanks for all your replies fisherboy ps does anyone know if there are clases that teaches u how to build rods.
  24. thats great they the dollies are here i want to start catching them this year how far out are the traps fisherboy
