I have a hds 8 and structure scan too all in a 14 foot abalone centre console and works just great for me . My advice to you is like tv's once you have found what you think is the right size , save some more $$ and go one size bigger

I have a Clarke 4.2 abalone centre console and I love it .

I would say its a lot more $ than $ 40,000. Possibly enough money to by one of those beaut units overlooking the lake or beach .

The problem is that i have seen with Narrabeen lake is that after/during big southern swell the lakes entrance acutually fills up with sand. Sand that has come from further down the beach and from Collaroy.Pittwater council spends thousnds of Dollars to return the sand back to south Narrabeen and Collaroy beaches. I believe they need to put in a break wall as far out to North Narrabeen point (past the swimming pool ) so that water can flow in and out easily and if there is a southerly swell the moving sand could flow on past North Narrabeen point onto Warriewood and Mona Vale Beaches. Also break walls along the Collaroy Narrabeen beaches would also solve the problem.If Pittwater council are serious in their efferts to solve beach errotion and the Lakes future they should invest in break walls. Can you imadgine all the jewfish and blackfish off the break wall .!!!!!!!!!!

Mission: To find blackfish by boat in Pittwater this winter . Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have a great hds unit and side scanner but looking for new spots away from any ferries . Many thanks

I used to tow my boat with a commodore VT but we had more kids so the wife said we needed a bigger car. I went for toyota Prado Man its the best thing i have ever done ( besides meeting my wife of course ). The best car i have ever owned . Now i put my boat in at a beach in Pittwater instead of paying fee's at the local boat ramp for parking.

Could you tell me where i can buy some carbontex washers ?

I have caught pacu in Brazil they have very tough teeth. As noted they eat nuts and hard fruit and vegetables called minjoca ( cassava ). Great fighting fish and they grow really big too.

Raiders, Thanks for the replies and tips !! I have just finished the flooring a full rewire of my boat installed a bilge pump , air rater for my live bait tank, a new switch panel , fuse box ( blade fuses ) . Also installed the HDS 8 and structure scanner. Its taken me the whole weekend and some!!! As i believe do it once and once only. All the wires are in con-dude and i have run them along the side of my boat out of the water , only the cables for the control box and transducer cables are under the flooring . Everything is neat safe and easy to get to if i need to in the future. All i have left to do is drill all the holes for the flooring and mount the transducers for the hds and L-ss. Oh and also mount by down riggers and stainless rod holders. Cant wait to finish and take it out for a test ....Maybe this weekend..... I'll keep you posted Blacky

Hi raiders, I am in the process of fixing my floor on my alloy abalone (clarke ) boat and i noticed that i have no floatation at all . Realising that it isn't very safe id like some suggestions as to installing foam or any other material.I am thinking under my flooring or maybe under the front seat where the center console is fixed. When i get a chance i will post some pick of my boat that may help with my question. Is there some foam that i can buy in a aerosol can ? Any help would be appreciated !!!!!!! Many thanks Blacky

Yeah sure cant wait ... i am rewiring most of the boat and changing a few things around so should be right in a few weeks time.

Yeah i have plenty of space in the centre console.. should stay nice and dry too. I am about to rewire the whole boat ( good thing i use to be an auto electrician ) . So shouldn't be a problem ... thanks for the tips and i will look forward to head out in pitty with you when you get back . Pm me so we can t up next week end.

G'day Raiders, Well i have done some research and all reports on the Lowrance structure scan have been great. I was just wondering if any raiders have them ? And also if you recommend the s-scan ? What are you thoughts? I am just about to buy HDS 8 and may save some more $ and get the structure Scan also . I will be targeting king fish in pittwater / Harbour and long reef in my clark 15ft centre consol. Any feed back would be appreciated !!!!!
