  1. get an old baking tray use sea salt layer off salt 20mm thick lay your fillets on the salt and cover with salt no need for a fridge but depending on how long you leave them in salt will suck all the water out

two days should do the trick then vacum seal and freaze they wont freaze as all the water has been sucked out leaving oil only in the fillet

keep the salt and sun dry it for reuse

its a bit off experament to find out what works for your needs also check the fillets dayley iff the salt is wet replace it with dry salt do'nt discard the used salt when its beond drying chuck it in you berly mix cheers gary

  2. well done ian you have gone from dangler to angler in a very short time mate and thats one fat ass lizard there this summer will be a cracker so a king and jew report is on its way i feel, when you get your first legal king your legs will shake and when you hook a good jew your heart will pump hard keep the reports coming cheers gary

  4. we do 3 sizes 60 mm for sydney 100mm for ps and jb and 152mm for tuna you could proberly get away with 100mm for elbow slapper slimmys and small bonito and small frigets just keep in mind water flow for two 100mm tubes you need 2000 lph and for a set off 152mm you need 40 gal a min.each cheers gary

  5. Thanks Gary - really good advice there. Sounds like a good plan. Hopefully the wind doesn't kick up too much. I was wondering about using divers around the headlands. I trolled from botany to maroubra once with a range of deep divers out and didn't get a hit. I haven't heard too much about using divers from people on this forum though - are they a decent bet?

we always start with two divers a red and white and a slimmy mac loooking lure mainly were looking for fish on the sounder as i've been doing this run for quite a few years and to down rigg the run takes 2 hours way to long to find fish as soon as we have bait balled up with arcs we work the area with two down riggers squid on one and a live yakka on the uther we start at dawn and finish around ten or go to the peak or 12 mile i never bother with metals in the washes as 20 years fishing the stones i'm over tailor but rosser gully[the stink pipe and bondi murk are real hot spots for big green backs best to fish for tailor just before dawn and till the suns up also i got a heads up today about big kings at longreef i was going on sunday to longy but i might go to the boat show instead depending on the wind cheers gary

  6. troll from south head to bondi stay in 20 meters with seven meter divers put your lures out before your round south head there are usuly bonito and kings

hot spots the headland at the south end off the gap;;just before rosergully[carfull it jumps upquickly at rosergully to 6 meters;;;were the cliff fishos fish south off the gully;;;;bondi murk and my fav the point south off the murk always kings there find the bait balls and the kings will be close by;;; also from north bondi straight out to 90 meters some great days had there on kings

we usuly down rigg as soon as we find the fish but also cast unweighted gars and popers just for fun on the rats good luck hope you hook up big time cheers gary

  7. theres a product we use in eng. call yield made by shell very good for seized bolts but having had the same motor[salt water aspren] they could be well and truely coroded and then you have a real problem try the easy out and yield but you may have to drill them right out and helly coil the holes if there is some stud still sticking out a good spray off yield and a small stilsons could do the trick

ps if you can't find yield on the net give me a ring on 0438264377 and i'll lend you some i think its about 40 to 60 bucks a can but worth every cent

    cheers gary

  8. half the increase to power bills is up grades to the sub stations and poles and wire my company does a lot off work for energy australia and over the last year we have had at least one contract per month worth around 8 to 10 k

energy australia supports local companys and there are many off them so i don't mind the 9% price rise

but there are wispers that the upgrades are being done so they can eather float the company or flog it off :ranting2: why would you sell a company that makes a profit that seames like a silly thing to do

as for the carbon tax well remember the gst and howards promise o thats right it was a non core promise :biggrin2:

and just to sturr the pot woollys did a 50 year survay taking pics off all the little kids chucking tanys in the lolly section and they all grew up to be voters for well you know who :1yikes::biggrin2: cheers gary

  9. i havn't fish there for 20 yearsbut it was a spot i fished often when i was on call in the steel works

i always fished with 12 foot rods and alveys and stayed on top off the break wall at night i fished the very end for jew and snapper a cast straight off the end towards the north wall will put you in with a good chance off snapper and for jew cast straight east from the endalso good flattys the only time we left the top off the wall was to gaff jew and only with some one on top as a spotter for the swell

rock fishing at night is a team effort and you would be crazy to fish anywere but the top if your going solo if you do go solo you should try to work a big fish to the inside before leaving the top be very carefull and good luck ps great place to get big squid witch is the killer bait for all the above cheers gary

  10. raiders did any one launch from tunks today i would just like a headsup regarding what time to launch tomorrow to get a car park spot i don't wont to park up the hill as i'm a fat lazy bastard :biggrin2: but it would be nice to have a sleep in instead off being there at 4.00am :ranting2: cheers gary

  11. there ok for pillys but crap for fish frames but i would check with fisherys on wheather it is legal to have a mincer when your fishing i would do it at home and freeze in pvc tube it lasts way longer if its frozen

get some end caps and cut the pvc tube the length off your berly pot also cut the pvc tube almost all the way length wise it makes it easyer to get your berly out off the tube

the good mix 1 bag off pillys

    2 bags off bread crumbs

    1 bag off polard

    2 cups off tuna oil

mince your pillys and old bait then mix the above in a 20 ltr bucket you should get 6 to 8 tubes off berly depending on your tube size a frozen tube should last 2 to 4 hours

    cheers gary

  12. the wire one witch are the norm in vic for snapper fishing are just that for snapper i would not recomend them for sydney as a good king can bounce the rod out off the holder and by by rod if you send me a scibbling of exactly what your after i'll quote it for you we have made tri rod holders that have a tube instead off wire and they slip into a gunnel mounted rod holder there around 150.00 each i wont do the wire ones because i think there crap cheers gary
