  1. Sounds like a pretty nice day, too bad you didn't have a king trying to pull you in still got a feed and a few fish which is better than nothing.

The yaks seem to be the go at the moment-plenty of people catching fish out of them.

    Cheers

  2. I'm looking at getting a reel in probably 2000 or 2500 size, i'm more weighing up between either getting a stradic or taking a step up and getting this but i'm not sure if its going to be worth paying an extra $110 when the stradic is still a good reel. I'll mainly be targeting bream+ flatties with lures on 4-6lb line. The twin power has sizes 1000, 2500 then up to 4000. The 1000 holds 140yds or 4lb so that should be adequate.

If i was to compare it with reels in the same price range i'd probably be looking at the TD Sol:

  3. Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knows much about this reel. I haven't seen it before and it looks pretty nice and am considering buying it. Physically it looks a bit like the fireblood but doubt its as good internally.

  4. One thing I do take note of though - on the American Pro Bass fishing circuit, where the top guys

make seven figures in winnings and sponsorship, they always have there sounders on, even the guys

not sponsored by marine electronics companies.

if it gave these guys a 1% advantage over their competitors they would probably do it.

    Jason

They aren't really fishing directly under their boat though

  5. Disappointing you couldn't get into any kings while you were down here.

They are some good bream though, not terribly common to get a lot of keeper's like that in the main harbour.

I find that we're usually overrun with little snapper and leatherjackets rather than sweep and trevally. I don't mind the trevs, they mix it up a bit unless they are really small.

Bad luck with the weather, it just has a way of screwing up a lot of good things in life.

Hopefully you'll have some luck next time you come down :1fishing1:

  6. Mate, the depth varies a lot throughout the system getting shallow up around a lot of the oyster racks and near half tide rocks.

If you do know your navigational markers then it will definitely make things a lot easier. If you're not too sure about certain areas just take it slow, good spots for flatties in the shallow areas-bit overfished though.

    Good Luck

  7. I hope i'm not getting ripped off.

We have an Optimax 75 and its just been in for its 20hr.

All up it cost just over $600, this was made up of :

    anti-corrosion treatment=$3

    Materials=$15

    Grease/gear box oils=$40

    3 bottles of DFI oil (4L bottles) = $48 each= $144

    20hr service labour: price=$90, quantity=4?? total=$360

    new anchor=$45

All up=$607, disregard anchor and oil i guess so brings it down to $417-is that about right or a bit steep??

    Cheers

  8. On a hot summer night, while waiting for the ferry, a mate and I saw what we believed to be 2.7m King Fish off the Jetty at Luna Park. It come-up and flapped its fins and then dived to the bottom...

I thought kings didn't grow much past 2metres-thats a nutter fish if so.

Good fish mate-nice if it was 1.3m though :1prop:
