  1. Great info, cheers Bobfish! Yeah i'm lucky that i work near Curly and have been trying a spin at lunchtime. Only caught pike so far out of my 2 attempts (on 5 inch shads). Tried slices and poppers too. Will keep going back as it should only be a matter of time before something is about or cruizing past ... i hope. Do I have to try and cast it as fas as possible or work the washes in closer?? Thanks
  2. Does it matter if it's low or high tide? How much wash do you need or is it not important for pelagics? I'm fishing off the northern beaches of Sydney headlands/rocks, mainly Curl Curl/Harbord. Thanks
  3. Thinking about doing some spinning off the rocks? What's the go in winter in Sydney - salmon, tailor etc? Do you need it foamy, with deep water in close? Best time/tides? Best lures? Cheers
  4. How much swell do you need to be in with a chance at drummer? Does it have to be really foamy = big swell? My ledges are low and i'm not a fan of getting washed in.

    Sydney Sambos

Also had a school of sambos sipping on eyes last sunday in middle hbr. Couldn't get them to touch my 3 inch stick bait.
  6. Bream won't mind the cold so much but yeah the flatties will slow down. More about finding the shallow, warmer water for the flatties.
  7. Of course!! A speargun!!!! Why didn't I think of that!
  8. Great advice all-round Raiders, cheers!!
  9. Hi Raiders, I had a situation on sunday in MH when bringing up my live slimies. 3 different times a kingy would follow it up to the surface. I would keep the livie below the water about a metre to temp the King but it would sort of just circle around it, maybe slightly nudge it occasionaly, for about a minute or two then dissapear. I would drop the livie back down to mid water but nothing??? The kingy would have been around the 70cm mark and the slimy was about 30cm. Do you think the slimie was too big for the King? Cold water maybe put him off a bit? I was using 30lb braid, 40lb pound fluro leader and a 6/0 mustad king hook. Did this put him off? What am i doing wrong??? Should I maybe try and switch bait him with a lighter outfit with maybe a strip of squid or pillie cube? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm not too dissapointed as it was a great site, very exciting and has got me fired up for more. Still yet to catch a KING though. Cheers Jake

    Tvs

Best fishing show there is IMO
  11. WOW indeed. Wish i could get out of this Sydney winter and into a bit of that action. Although that report made me jealous, it was worth it I'll have to settle for 5 days in Townsville coming up in August. Hopefully a few spaniards or schoolies up there too. Nice one Ross! Jake
  12. Cheers Musty, great tips. .... and good luck Tony. You'll be pulling fish/squid out of that yak in no time ... it's seen plenty of scales and ink!
  13. Cheers Tony. How's the the yak going? Christened it yet? Jake
  14. Thanks, Get any other species other than bream on them?
  15. Great advice and great vid, cheers Iceman.
  16. G'day, I own soft plastic sandworms (Gulp brand) but very rarely use them, mainly because i know and get results on the other types like minnows, stickbaits, grubs and the like and because i don't know the best way to fish the worms. I've heard they do well and am noticing a number of succesful reports on these lure types so it's time i gave them a real crack. I suppose if your using them you are targeting bream, flathead, trevally etc with the possible bi-catch of whiting and soapy/school jew? Because they have no in-built action, is the best way to fish them to use subtle flicks and twiches on a light jig head or worm hook or just to let it drift down with no movement? Or do you you fish them deeper using a heavier jig head with bigger twitching and pausing? Does it depend on the species you're targeting? Also, how much worm do you actually put on the jig head/hook? Sorry for the multiple questions but any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Jake
  17. Hi Rexxy, It's called little narra (how inventive!). It's a very reefy/rocky beach. After storms big amounts of rocks are exposed. I don't know how it looks at the moment. Check it at low tide first. I've never fished there cos there are so many other options around it and i would assume you would get snagged there often depending on the snad converage. Plus it's only a short beach, so fewer options and less likely to get really good long gutters. On a plus side it wouldn't get the crowds or exposure to fishermen that warriewood to the nth and narrabeen to the sth would cop. I've seem some good blackfish come out of the sth end though off the rocks. Post a report on it if you give it a crack, would like to know how it fishes. I reckon bream at night would be a real possibility. Cheers
  18. I agree with both Jewgaffer and Zenman. You will also get big bream on the run out near the entrance to narra lake, best bait strips of narra lake mullet, but i've also caught them on half pillies. Remember the time delay though, often the tide change takes a few more hours to kick in. Bi-catch of flathead highly possible on those baits also, anywhere along the beach. All in all it's one of the best beaches in Sydney for fishing. Plenty of deep gutters and channels so you'll get a spot, although balmy summer nights can be a different story. Then there's the summer whiting ........
  19. Absolute cracker of a trev!! What plastic did the damage? Jig head weight? Thanks
  20. Maybe don't try that in your new yak Tony! Jake
  21. I bought the 4000 model just recently. Haven't had a hook up on kings yet, which is what i'v intended it for. Beautiful reel though and as smooth as my Stradic.
  22. Cheers Graham. Yeah i heard they like bridges and that a few had been caught under middle creek bridge in narra lake up the back. Would have thought the woolies bridge would be too loud and heavily fished for them but there you go. They must be used to it. Didn't also know that night time was a good bet for them. Maybe it's the lights around there at night that attract the prawns/shrimp which then attract the EP's. Interesting. Might have to throw a few resin head squidgy bugs around the woolies bridge one night. Thanks
  23. Hi Raiders, I was hoping if someone could tell me where there is a good strong hold of EP's around Sydney. PM me if it's sensitive info. I live on the nthn beaches, so Pittwater, Narrabeen Lake, Sydney Harbour spots would be best. Can fish land based or in my v-nose punt (with electric). The boat can go in pretty shallow, skinny water too. I've heard and seen one pic of an EP in narra lake and heard of a few being caught in sydney harbour but no real locations. I would love to get a few of these special fish on softies and would return them all to the water. Cheers
