  1. Have you tried filling the filter with fuel before screwing it back together?

    Cheers,

    Bruce

no i havent, i will have a fiddle around with it when i get home from work.

i will run some tests as to see if the hand pump is working properly and sucking fuel out from the tank, if that fails, i will try and fill up the filter with fuel, and pump it into the motor, but im not sure if that will help, the main issue is i need to get the fuel lifting from under the floor and into the filter,

i might bypass the filter and try and get the fuel up direct and see if that works

    anyone else have any ideas?

  2. Does the filter head have a bleed screw on top? if so, you will need to undo it a couple of turns then squeeze the primer bulb to force the air out, otherwise the fuel has no where to go as to fill with fuel, you must let air out to make room for the fuel to fit!

it has a bleed screw tap thing down the bottom, i have tried with it open and with it closed and still cant get fuel up.... hope i dont have to siphon it using my mouth!

  3. hi raiders, i have a mallory water/fuel seperator fitted to my Stacer, with a underfloor fuel tank.

i noticed that there was a bit of water in it, we accidently drained all the fuel out of the seperator and now it is dry.

does anyone know how to get the fuel back into the seperator and going back into the motor?

i sat there for about 10 minutes pressing the priming bulb and my hand feels like its going to fall off!

    helppppppppp :1prop:

  4. thanks for all your responses, i spose a white painted boat would be a lot cooler in the summer heat and you would still have to wash the boat after a trip whether it painted or unpainted.

Just wondering tho, would you have problems with rust bubbling up under the paint?

    aluminium boats dont rust....

if anything, you may get salt build up if it gets in under the paint, or another issue is electrolysis, this is caused from having stainless steel and aluminium touching and having a bad earth on your boat.

that can cause your paint to bubble.

  5. Hi everyone, was just after some advice, the floot on my stacer Baymaster runabout is starting to feel very soft. it is marine ply with Marine carpet attached.

i was thinking of getting new ply and screwing in some checker plate, makes it easier to clean and wash after fishing.

the boat is pretty dry when it comes to fishing, but i was just wondering if anyone has done this before or is it better to just use some heavy duty marine carpet.

i like to clean the carpet after every use, dont like the boat stinking like fish!

    thanks in advance!

  6. Just a heads up, had an Inspection from Maritime official today in Botany bay and was told that my yellow capicity sticker is nolonger valid and is to be replaced with a bright green one (he gave me 1)

so i would suggest getting down to the Maritime and getting the new updated sticker so you dont get a fine.

  7. Hi All,

I have been in touch with Bob and Harry (invigilators). They are happy to deliver another course. I have found a suitable venue.

I will be posting the dates for the course soon.

    WATCH THIS SPACE

    mrsswordie

sorry guys, im out, i have booked the course for next weekend with the sydney coastal patrol, since this opportunity has come up before a course date was set here.. :( sorry.

  8. This course takes a lot of organising and it would be over 1 full Saturday and one half Sat for the exam,if you are serious and want in ?? make the effort and you will be well rewarded as this license is for life :biggrin2: .

    mrsswordie

which course is going to be offered?

Marine Radio Operator’s Certificate of Proficiency (MROCP)

or the Marine Radio Operator’s VHF Certificate of Proficiency (MROVCP)

also the cost of the course?

    thanks!

  9. You can get your license any time and it comes in handy when you are on some one elses boat who has the right equipment.

The course is very rewarding and you may even be able to save some ones life in an emergency when you know the right way to operate a radio.

    Cheers Swordfisherman

i have just installed a vhf on my boat and would be down for the course.

i would like to do the course face to face rather reading the info off the internet.

if there isnt one offered on fish raider soon, i will end up doing one through the coastguards in a couple of months time

  10. thanks again for the input guys,

i have heard the same things come out of peoples mouths about centree consoles about getting soaked, bumpy rides due to the fact that there is hardly any weight at the front of the boat.

i think i might start looking into a cuddy or half cabin type boat.

  11. thanks for the reply guys,

i will be using this boat to fish around sydney harbour, port hacking, botany bay.

would also like the boat to have a bit of balls to be able to go to and a little outside the heads on a good day.

i am interested in getting myself a centre console because it is a more practical fishing boat when going out with a few mates for a fish.

i do most of my fishing with mates so launching and retriving will not be an issue.

as for the storage side of things, a box seat and a few compartments would be enough for me, and maby some side storage. would also need a live bait tank etc,

my main concern is i dont want to buy a hull thats crap to drive, would like something that can chop through waves (and not fall apart in a few months)

i have seen the specs on the formosa and they are 3mm sides and 4 mm bottom.

as for the quintrex, the centre consoles are over my budget of 20 grand unless something pops up :)

  12. hi guys, long time reader first time poster.

its finally time to buy my self a boat, i am currently looking at a few different brands of boats.

i am interested in getting my self a aluminium centre console boat, between 4.8m and 5.2m

i have looked all over the internet and have come across a few brand boats, a few of those being

    formosa

    stessco

    bermuda

    brooker

    bluefin

    savage

    lydcraft

    trailcraft

all these boats in the centre console range appeal to me, and are around the 20.000 price range (second hand) that i am looking to spend.

now i would like some feedback on some of these brands i any of you have centre console boats.

any help would be really appreciated.

    thanks in advance!
