  1. Thanks guys. Hooky, I haven't experimented with rattles in Pad Tues, would be an interesting idea tho' depending on the rattle and how you rig it. Let me know how you go. Pukk'
  2. Had a great little session on the Parra' today. Fished boats, jetties, pontoons, blah, blah, etc., you know the stuff... Finished with a total of 12 nice bream, plus a few undersized. Biggest of the 'legals' went 37cm, a number of the fish were in the early 30's to mid 30's size range. Pad Tues and Bug Ants did the damage, of course. Also got absolutely 'monstered' by what I think was a very good bream, dropped a couple of nice fish and lost a flatty of about 65cm at the boat when just about to slide the net under. Weather was perfect, hardly any wind, water temperature up.. all in all a top day! My apologies for the quality of the pics', not easy getting a good shot with a self timer and a face like mine! I'm sure it is Whitto, but this is the Warrior we're talking about??? Pukk'
  4. I thought QLD drivers only drive 40kph? Good luck on the property hunt Ken! I won't be able to make the Gold Coast and maybe Clarence ABT's due to work, so I'm getting my 'competition fix' doin' the Pro Bream this weekend instead. Hopefully they'll be a few more bream out there than there was the last time I fished the Parra'/Harbour. Pukk'

So, the boat will be sold as a cuddy cabin, centre console, bow rider or a bream/bass boat, all based on the same hull?? ... that's gotta be some hull! Pukk'
  6. I was lucky enough to score two lone 'rats', which I was more than happy with after my original plan of fishing the bays downstream was literally blown off the water! T'was good to catch up with 'the lads' again tho', despite the conditions. Pukk'
  7. I saw a Loomis GLX last year with Recoils fitted. The salesman got a big kick out of demonstrating to me how tough the guides were by bending one backwards against the blank. The guide sprang back perfectly of course, leaving me suitably impressed. Apparently Recoil's are quite noisey when using braid, and they actually remind me of the guides I used to have on my ol'Kmart special when I was 5, but the durability factor and the reduction in weight is pretty darn impressive. 8. Great bream fella's, one of the best reports I've read in a while - cracking photos too! Well done, top stuff! Pukk'
  9. I thought of Fireline, then I thought if I really had to, I could easily 'get away with' one of the new higher quality mono's goin' around. Same goes with the sounder. It seems a must to have one now and in new territory it almost is, but considering I mainly fish shoreline type structure, I think I could get away without one of those too. The internet is obviously a wonderful thing and it has helped my learning curve along a little quicker than had it not been around. However if, heaven forbid, I had to give up the computer one day, I wouldn't necessarily feel all that bad about goin' back to all the 'old' sources of information like magazines, tv, radio, books and not forgetting the ol'faithful, 'chewing the fat' with like-minded anglers face-to-face. After taking into consideration all of the above, I came to the conclusion that the one thing I couldn't bare to be, or do without, is an electric motor. The Electric helps me move and cover more area than I could ever dream of without it. It also gives me the opportunity to hold in a spot while casting in situations where it would be impossible or extremely difficult to operate without one, like on windy days or in fast flowing water. Therefore my pick is the electric, definitely the most important piece of new(ish) technology out of all my tackle and accessories. Pukk'
  10. Lovely catch Narra', that smile says it all Well done mate! Joe
  11. Maybe it's everything you'd ask a custom rod builder to build for you anyway? Puk'
  12. Matrix, Mick r only got them in hours ago and as far as I know, the Daiwa rep' is the only guy in the country who owns one. Pukk'
  13. Here's the link to the rod on the Daiwa site, click on the rod picture for a bigger pic' Joe DEVEL 03
  14. Yea' Joe, bass luv 'em. Here's one that went 49.5cm, caught at Glenbawn last year on a Ginger Beer coloured BM... Joe the pommy one
  15. Nice one mitch, good t'see the parra' still fishing well. Joe
  16. Congrats on your PB mate, lovely looking fish! Puk'
  17. They're an awesome little lure and the colour in your pic' is one the best in the range. I've used them around pylons and marinas and they're another of those lures which will get hit on the drop without really having to do anything. Just get a tight cast in, and if there's a bream there, he'll hit it. They are a bit of a pain casting however. The hook(s) seem to get hitched up on the leader more than most lures, but they're well worth perservering with. Interested to see you've removed the middle treble on the lure in your pic' Richo. That's something I also do and it cuts down the problem I described above considerably. A size 14 or even 16 Owner Stinger is probably best suited to this size of lure, but I've occassionally upped mine to a size 12 rear treble with no adverse affects. Now, don't tell anyone else about them OK? Pukk'
  18. Hey Ken, know what you mean about hitting the closer spots. Since moving, Burns Bay ramp is a little closer to me now and I'm finding myself hitting the Parra' and The Lane' a lot more. Last weekend I just wanted to avoid the Parra' while the comp' was on, which is why I thought I'd give M.Harbour a go. The Shirasu scent is an Ecogear product which I can unshamedly give a good plug to, as I was using it long before my association with Ecogear and genuinely luv' the stuff. Shirasu comes in a little pump bottle or in capsule form. The capsules you just put in the lure bag and crush. If you go for the bottle, be careful not to get any of your plastics near the lid. I left a plastic too close to the bottle, had the top melt and got Shirasu scent everyone - and boy does it whiff! Shirasu is available at Otto's locally and I'm sure the boys stock it at ABA too. 19. Aaaah, that's why I didn't see you, I was back well before then. I didn't get the tailor on the fly rod, but it wasn't for want of trying. It's the first time I've casted a fly rod in a long while and it must've looked quite comical as I got myself literally tied up in knots while the tailor were splashing all around me. Shame you didn't get that bream, the buggers tend to do that a lot around North and Middle Harbours. There's been so many times when I've enticed one or two fish out, watched them go down after the lure and then nothing. On the Parra' you can almost bank on your line either stopping, twitching or shooting off when this happens, but for some reason, the bream in the oceanic sections of the harbour often seem to follow the lure all the way down to the bottom and just sit there watching it - I've watched them do it in the clearer water and it's very frustrating. When the bream are just picking and not really feeding actively, I always find a little spray of Shirasu scent really helps. When I first started using Shirasu a couple years ago, I wasn't that convinced about scents in general, but the bream definitely seemed more inclined to strike at the lure with the scent, but were much more tentative with the unscented lure. Anyway Narra', I'm sure we'll bump into each other one day at Roseville, have fun on your hols'! Joe
  20. Hi Gab', I was using 4 pound Fireline and 6 pound leader and I think Rich was the same. 4 pound Fireline isn't that much of an issue, as long as you have enough clear water to play the fish out. The leader is normally the part which fails anyway. Pukk'
  21. Surprised I didn't see you Narra', where di you put in? I fished M.Harbour in the rain this morn' for a couple of hours, even took the fly rod out, (which was 'fun' ). Anyway, I just had to see if the kingys were still working! Unfortunately there were only a few average sized tailor around and even fewer bream, worse still, I spotted a commercial guy netting the whole of Bantry Bay.. whatta' shame! Well done on the trev' Narra', nice to read there was someone as mad as me out there today! (.. not quite as mad as Jocool tho' ) Joe
  22. Mario, Rich was using a bass minnow and I was using an Ecogear Minnow S Ivan, don't worry mate, you'll soon be whizzing past us all! Joe
  23. Hi Covanova, I've done OK on the EPs in Middle Harbour, but they can be very elusive.. as EPs tend to be. It usually only takes a few casts in one spot to know if they're there or not. All the usual places such as deep holes, mini cliff faces and man made structure are the places to hit. Do a search on EPs on these forums and a few of my old EP reports should show up along with reports from other guys who have caught EPs in M.Harbour and elsewhere. Pukk'
  24. Rich actually landed 2 Swoff'. He's beginning to get into the habit of pulling a biggy when he comes out with me, used to be the other way around - the bugger! I honestly think if we'd hit them when we first saw them, instead of carrying on breamin', we could've had a few more... aaah well, I won't be passing by another bust up like that again. Joe
