  1. Commerong Island near Nowra is worth a look. Great luderick, flathead, bream, whiting, tailor and mullet.
  2. If you have to go - you have to go. My family understands. I actually think the Hawkesbury is not too bad......not the best.... but there's still good table fish and reasonable pockets of bait in it. Whether they bite is another thing. A big run in tide before midnight on Saturday will help your cause a little bit. Try Cowan Creek which retains its salinity better after rain, or any other area out of the main current flow. As you are fishing at night try shallow water (less than 3 metres), which has features on it such as rocks, weed, sand pockets, back eddies (preferable all of them), and fish light line with baits such as fresh peeled prawns, nippers, worms and muscles. Fish in present conditions tend to hug close to the bottom. If you start to catch catfish don't worry - simply fish lighter before you try somewhere else. This means less lead, lighter line.
  3. Well done. Good to see a yakka on the water anytime. Noticed the lid to the inside of the yak in the background of the first bream. I once borrowed a friends hobie and stashed a muddie inside. I didn't realise it then had free reign to the rest of the watercraft. It took us ages to eventually get it out - turning the hobie upside down and sliding the shelled beast from one end to the other before it hit the jackpot pocket once again. Regards Cobbler
  4. Bobbin Head is in Kuringai National Park. Not the best swimming but has a good kids area in a decent sand pit. Plenty of spots to have a throw, but the best fishing doesn't usually occur in the middle of the day. Though during this times there are plenty of Mullet and Whiting about at times, and heaps of smallies to keep the kids happy. Can drive to Brooklyn and then take the ferry to Dangar Island. A couple of little secluded beaches, with line line fishing available for bream and whiting. Just walk past the bowling club. Regards Cobbler
  5. Hulafish The one thing about the Harbour is that there are many options both landbased and for watercraft user when targeting Mulloway. As you don't mention anything specific I am guessing that you are still considering your options. The best bit of advice I can give you is to invest time (perhaps 100's of hours) learning how to catch fresh local bait. And not just squid, tailor and yellowtail. Depending on where you are fishing in the Harbour, Mulloway will actively hunt blennys, glass perchlets, trumpeter whiting, mantis shrimp, cardinal fish, flower of the waves, garfish, whitebait, silver biddies and hardyheads. All these can be caught using lawful recreational methods and can be fished live or as dead baits. Many anglers swear by live bait - but personally I have found actively working fresh dead baits - to be a much better proposition. Regards Estuary Cobbler
