  1. Hello fellow fishraiders I'm a landbased fisherman who the fishing gods aren't very nice to. I usually fish with baits with very little or no luck. I've tried soft plastics with no luck as well. Wanted to get a 'top of the market' Popper and Metal to use at Bobbin Head or anywhere with surface action. What do you recommend as the best popper on the market? What do you recommend as the best metal on the market? P.s not really targeting a particular species. Thanks in advance, Matt
  2. I've "heard" Lady bay isn't too bad. The scenic view is quite eye catching...

    Kayaks

I once had a Australis Platypus which was a sit inside which I used a lot when I lived up at Long Jetty and sold it to pick myself up a sit on due to me having such long legs I was afraid I would flip and struggle to free myself . Though this was a year ago and still haven't bought one. I would say check out the Malibu X-13 and Stealth 14, but they're at 4m+ length. Then there is the Stealth 12 at 3.8m length. As someone mention above the Viking Espri looks good, 3.5m legnth, 79cm wide with payload of 150kg. Matt. I'd be up for a fish with anyone in the Sydney region after new years.

    Kayaks

I'm also looking into a kayak for fishing and recreation. I'm leaning towards the new Hobie Pro Angler for a fishing platform though I am waiting for the new Malibu Kayaks range to hit the BCF stores first. I really want to sit in a Malibu X-13 and a Stealth 14 till I decide. I went in to BCF at Auburn Syd on Thursday afternoon and was told that the shipment was delayed till around Xmas. So I'll hit BCF again just after New Years. Matt.
  5. 'Mad Mullet', there is a name I couldn't forget! Saw you on Saturday, we were the boatless ones on the massive boulders, not sure what it is actually called. Glad to hear you guys caught something decent, nice catch! Regards Matt
  6. I use Inox spray and Inox machinery grease. I hose my reels down and dry with a cloth after every trip and use the Inox spray and grease after every sixth session, or when ever I feel like it. I've only dunk one reel into hot soapie water due to having fell into the water with my rod. Gave it a soak and shake, then sprayed internals with Inox and very light coat of Inox grease. Inox does the job nice, no complaints. Matt.
  7. Thanks Hodgey. Great help. I will try the 6lb braid tomorrow. Mtt
  8. Hello, I'm using a 2-4kg, one piece berkley drop shot, I think it's 6ft 6 (not sure as it's at home) I've mainly been using the 2in sandworms due to the success with bream, also 3in something in pumkin seed from a tip at local tackle store for the flathead. Target bream and flathead along the estuary banks of Hawkesbury and Cowan creek. Never used braid. Would I benifit from using braid on an egg beater over a baitcaster? Thanks. Matt BTW the search always yeilds no results for me. I tried it again and it brought up this post now that it's has started. I guess I expected more results...
  9. G'day guys, I've been flicking plastics for a little while now, using a small Diawa eggbeater with 8lb mono. I want to switch to baitcaster and maybe braid, is braid on a baitcaster a better weapon than my current setup? Thanks, Matt. P.S the search function is crap, needs repair.

    Kingies

    PM sent, Clem! Rob.
  11. I don't think he was annoyed at the fact that the police officer hadn't a fishing license, but the fact that even the police officers themselves noticed the taking of undersized King fish and chose not to act. I agree that police shouldn't have the responsibility to check whether a fisho has a license or not as they may or may not have enough to police as it is, but if they have noticed undersized fish being kept then they're obligated to act as it is their job. I disagree in the need for recreational fishing licenses, it's all a BS scheme for more profit. But that's my opinion. No matter how small the crime it's still a crime. Rob.
  12. After hearing how 'numbnuts' describes 'Rob', I think i know him
  13. If you have no luck there, you could try the left side of the bridge towards Cows Rock. I have been there a few times recently. Though theres a lot of eels. I've caught a few Bream there, and on my last visit I landed a small 50cm Jew. I've also been told that it's not a a bad spot for the school Jews. It's only a 5-8 min walk on a medium difficulty track (not ideal for kids) Parking at Kangaroo point, you walk up and over the road and theres a track that'll take you under the F3 road bridge and along the waters edge. But take care, there a few gaps in the track. It's not a super hot spot but just another option to try if you're in the mood with no luck. I'll be heading there tomorrow night to get another session in before my Xmas break ends. Good luck, Rob.
