  1. Hey mate, Yeah as said above, its just to make sure it all works too. I do it the afternoon before usually, to test what could be wrong if anything. then you can still have some time to go get what you need, do anything you need, and still be up and on the water at 4 or 5 the next morning. Plus i find, after it has been run for 10 or 15 minutes the day before, she starts really easy the next morning.
  2. Hey mate, with my 115 yammy, on a swiftcraft dominator 5.45 cuddy cabin, i can get there in about 30 minutes, or 45 minutes, with a meter or over swell, never had a flat run out. I found however, that you can probably do avalon gutter, reggies, boultins, and even newport reef, save fuel, and get about the same results.. plus you will get more hours fishing. Though, if you do go to longy, try to google long reef GPS fishing, and you will be able to find some marks other have put up. Then motor to their marks, and i like to drive around a bit and suss out the terrain within a few hundred feet before setting my drift. Good luck dude.
  3. I make sure i put it up when i pull off the ramp, and lock it up before i drive home.. when i get home, i put it down, and then flush it, while down, then leave it down until i use it again. Before i use it again, i start it at home down. then i put it up, lock it up and drive to the ramp, then unlock it and keep it up till the boat is backed in. then i put it down and start and drive off. Its just what i have been told to do, and no motor problems as yet

    Battey Charging

Hi Guys, Do you keep your batteries always charged? like plugged in all the time? does it make it last longer? I just make sure i kick mine over every 2 weeks, and run it for about 10 minutes in fresh, also just to clear any old fuel in the lines. whats the pro's and cons?
  5. I think it should be done, in terms of teaching people how to use their radio's properly. I have been using mine for years, do it right, but now have to go get a liscence.. i dont mind, but just think that it should be covered somewhere between my boat liscence fees, and fishing liscence fees.
  6. can you PM me the website or shop details? I am after white, pink, and the ones that are a mix of both .
  7. I sometimes use just a small 2-3 inch skirt over the top of my hooks on the rig. will rig up a double paternoster, and then just slide them over the whole hook, so they are on the line. bait up, and pull it down so the tentacles are around the bait.. works pretty good for me, though havent used it this year, find it hard finding them small skirts.. though there are only like 20c each...
  8. Cheers mate, i will do, any other good spots around there?? theres a whole lot of water and looks like good structures? anyone tried near pyrmont bridge at all ?

    Stone Fish?

Yeah mate, caught one at careel bay one night.. never caught another.. it took my bait into a hole it seemed, as i thought it was an eel, it struk and the rod bucled.. the fish was only 15cm.. it croaked like a frog when we got it out too.. i refused to touch it, so my mate dave got it off haha..
  10. Good Work !!! I am also interested in this. I have an inflateable one, and want to get another, so whoever else is with me can wear it.
  11. Hey Guys, Being a born and bred northern beaches boy all my life, i have done most of my fishing in my local areas. I have moved out to the inner west, and have been fishing a few places around glebe for no luck. I have access to glebe, rozelle and balmain pretty easily, so just wondering if any fellow raiders could help with - - Good places to fish - Jetties / shore - street, or google earth reference so i can find them. - tips or tricks for the spots. I will be keen to go for - Jews and Kings with 1 rod out with lives, or slabs. - Bream / Trevs / Flatties with Sp's and bait. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers in advance guys
  12. i have used black, all the way to the hook, and not been bitten off until landing a good 30 of the suckers...
  13. Hey mate, Dollies you would want to do a fad run in summer... (december/jan/feb etc) tuna the time is now, but they should be coming on thicker soon.. i know i have been waiting for them. Kings, you can get now off the reefs, and wrecks, as well as snapper, but you can also get kings (smaller ones but more plentiful) throughout summer. I think you want a charter that goes after tuna, and does a stop and jig on the way at 12 mile or something.. that way you would probably get the best of both worlds...
  14. Thats it... A bad days fishen beats a good days work every time...
  15. Go On Both... and should PM me your number, and we could catch up on the water friday..
  16. Hehehe, all of the above may be a bit hectic.. but i like the idea of out early, back by 2pm, that means i can be back at my flat by around 4 (after washing the boat and driving back from avalon) Good idea.. Maybe i canvince the misses to do a 4.30 leave home, 5am on the water, 5.30 hopefully have a bag load of squid and head out..
  17. Its my birthday friday, and i have taken the day off work. I dont know what i want to do, but wow that weather looks good... I may take a drive to avalon thursday night, and take my boat out friday... with a tiny swell like that, the trip to terrigal would be easy, and maybe i can get into some good snapper and kings .. Will be just me and my missus. However, i would much prefer to have someone take me out... think i may have left it a bit late to arrange a charter for me and my missus... But oh well... i think my boat needs a good run.. The alternative is my first idea, which was, wake up.. breakfast in bed.. then sleep in until lunch time.. go to the fish markets... have lunch... then take a stroll around with my rods, and we would check out some spots in the local area.. then home for a sleep before a big night out. haha.. What do you guys think? i rarely get a day off work, and the weather looks so good, esp with the comp on at the moment, and me not being on my boat in ages.. i think i need to decide quick smart.. haha
  18. Thanks guys... hey daniel... hahaha, well i just thought a few fish to my name would give me a bit more cred in posts etc... been out lately?

  23. Hey Guys, Well i have been on this forum for some time now, but only really add a comment or 2 here or there. i have decided this is slack, and i should start posting reports etc too.. So here is my first, basically i thought a good way to break the ice, is an introduction.. I am in my mid 20's and have been fishing since i can remember. Born in Manly, and growing up along the northern beaches, my fishing has been mostly done around this area (hey why not.. its a great place) I started with Narrabeen lake, as well as rocks and beaches, and progressed onto estuary, and finally boat. In shore and off shore. Anyways, i will make sure that i post when i do go fishing again.. but here is a teaser of some of my better fish from the past few years..
  24. It almost looks like a flying fish, without the wing fins...
  25. Mate.. thats shocking.. almost as bad as people wearing those bloody crocs on the rocks.. It bugs me too, as these guys taking the stupid risks are just stuffing it up for the rest of us. It is a tragedy whenever these is a fishing fatality, but whats worse is when people aren't learning from the mistakes made..
