  1. Interesting, to say the least.

When I was an employee I was working 3 jobs, totalling between 12 and 16 hours a day. Go home totally knackered, with no concerns, except for personal pleasure and or entertainment. (beer, fishing, girls,etc..)

As an owner of several businesses, employing in excess of 100 staff, I am still hammering away 16, and sometimes more, hours each day. Go home totally knackered, head still spinning with forward planning, staff discipline matters, el nino (shipping business), fuel prices, etc, etc, etc... and have very little time to enjoy my family, fishing or other recreational past times as I did before. A holiday is out of the question.

Now, the decision to become a businesman was mine alone. There is no sense or reason behind complaining about the hours worked, taxes, sacrifices, risks or losses that may be encountered in this venture. To think that an employee could possibly be sympathetic is unrealistic. That is the wrong forum to be having this discussion in. It would be like the Army General whining to the enlisted Corporel - WTF?

Write to your local and Federal member. They don't care either, but they are used to that sort of rhetoric.

As the saying goes: If you can't stand the heat then get out of the kitchen.

I know that I am laying a platform for my future generations. That's what being a parent is all about. If you ever get the opportunity to go into business for yourself, then go for it. You will only get out of it what you put in.

That's my 2 bobs worth anyway.

    Cheers

  3. A plane carrying 148 passengers and up to six crew crashed into New York's Hudson River and was sinking into the waters after everyone was safely rescued.

Dozens of frantic passengers clustered on the wings of the US Airways plane seeking to stay above the rising freezing waters as they were evacuated off the plane onto waiting boats.

The Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) said all the people on board had survived and been rescued after flight 1549 crashed shortly after take-off from LaGuardia Airport in New York on its way to Charlotte, North Carolina on Thursday.

It confirmed there were 148 passengers and five or six crew on board the ill-fated flight, and said it was an accident that may have been the result of a collision with some birds.

Passenger Alberto Panero told CNN said he heard a loud bang just after take-off from La Guardia.

"The plane shook a bit and immediately, you could smell smoke or fire and immediately, the plane basically just started turning in another direction," he said.

"It didn't seem like it was out of control, we knew something was going on," he said.

"All of a sudden, the captain came on and said, 'Brace for impact,' and that's when we knew we were going down, into the water. And we just hit and somehow the plane, you know, stayed afloat and we were all able to get on the raft and - it's just incredible right now that everybody's still alive."

"Right now we don't have any indication right now that this was anything other than an accident," the FAA's Laura Brown told reporters, adding there were preliminary reports that birds hit the plane.

Police helicopters hovered over the stricken plane as four large ferries and several smaller boats gathered in the waters nearby. The Coast Guard dropped life jackets into the water for survivors amid frigid temperatures.

Fire and emergency service crews assisted survivors, with one passenger saying there had been elderly people as well as children on board the aircraft.

On a freezing winter's day, water temperatures were estimated at minus six degrees celsius outside and four degrees in the water, making it a race against time to get everyone off the plane before they could suffer from hypothermia.

Panero told CNN by phone he believed everyone had escaped alive, and had been evacuated from the floating plane.

He said the rescue "boats managed to get right up to the door and you could just literally, in effect, jump off into a boat, never had to go into the water".

"I saw what looked to be a small commercial plane flying south making a gradual landing," witness Ben Vonklemperer told CNN.

"I saw it hit the water. It made a big splash," he said. "I did see it hit the water at a very gradual angle. It appeared not to have landing gear engaged," he said.

"The way they hit it was very gradual. A very slow contact with the water that it made."

    Here's the picture.

  4. The elite sports people representing their countries make massive sacrifices to achieve that level of talent.

I admire them for the dedication they display on and off the sporting arena. I enjoy immensely watching them display their wares either on screen or live.

Winners are grinners, as they say, however the pressure to win must be a major burden sometimes, and I guess it may also weigh heavily on their on field performances at times. Having said that, the selection criteria that they have had to go through must surely qualify them to represent their codes at the highest level.

How many times have we had that day out on the golf course when you can't get one shot to land on the fairway?

Not making excuses for them guys, but hey, when they shine they put on a pretty good show and have done their country proud for many a year.

That's my 2 bobs worth anyway.

    Cheers

And you have probably seen this one: Israel is the nation most often mentioned in the Bible.

But do you know which nation is second?

    It is Iraq !

However , that is not the name that is used in the Bible.

The names used in the Bible are Babylon , Land of Shinar , and Mesopotamia ... The word Mesopotamia means between the two rivers , more exactly between the Tigris And Euphrates Rivers ..

The name Iraq means country with deep roots.

Indeed Iraq is a country with deep roots and is a very significant country in the Bible.

No other nation , except Israel , has more history and prophecy associated with it than Iraq

And also , This is something to think about:

Since America is typically represented by an eagle.

Saddam should have read up on his Muslim passages ....

The following verse is from the Koran , (the Islamic Bible)

    Koran ( 9:11 ) - For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle.. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo , while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah;

    And there was peace.

    (Note the verse number!) Hmmmmmmm?!

  6. I dont believe that it is the role of the ordinary fisho to police fish licencing.

    Totally agree.

I would think that the Badge the officer has in his pocket would constitute a licence in my opinion.

Different story if they were keeping undersize fish.

The Police put it all on the line for you and I to live in relative safety.

If you called them for assistance, I don't think you would be too concerned whether they had been fishing with or without a licence.

    Give them a fair go.

    That's my personal opinion only.

  9. The Spanish Mackeral CFD caught earlier this month had the nose of a small Rainbow Runner also attached to the hook on the lure. After cleaning the Mackeral we found bite size pieces of the Rainbow in the gut of the Mackeral.

It would be splitting hairs if you considered the Rainbow, or for that matter other fish chomped by sharks, etc.. to qualify as a fish caught.

More to the point though, releasing an undersized fish unharmed would be my interpretation of the law. Sticking it with a large hook through the mouth or back would surely be deemed to be harming it and also I would believe that you are in fact retaining the fish, not releasing it, as the law requires.

    My 2 cents worth.

    Cheers

    Mariner
