  1. mate, if it the rod means something to you then its worth fixing, i know i have a few old faves that i have and will repair as need be. Why not get a price on the repair and go from there.
  2. the easiest way to tell them apart are their wings, the calamaris go the entire length of their body whereas the arrows wings only go up to about half way, even less when they get bigger.

    Wilson Mt4144

Not sure if they stock the MT4144 but try BCF as they have a good range of live fibres particularly surf and rock models.
  4. cheers red herring, will suss them out, thanks for the tip.
  5. Hi raiders, Just found out ive got work tomorrow night in the shellharbour area with my cousin who is pretty much new to fishing and asked if theres anywhere down that way we could have a fish after we knock off tomorrow night. So not being one to say no to a fishing session i was wandering if someone could kindly help us out with a spot we could try, preferably somewhere we could flick some plastics around for a bream or flattie as ive been preaching to him about lures, or even a spot we could go squidding. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
  6. Hi Dan, well done mate thats a great haul I was out with the same charter a couple of weeks back with similar results, without doubt the best charter operator ive been with and the best fishing action i have experienced...it took me a week to get over my bruised underarm and stomach!!!

    Iron Braid

Wow i never would have thought this. Thanks for the heads up.
  8. Hi Nathan, I recently purchased a Sakana Zion but the 10-17lb rod. I already had a light rod otherwise i would have gone for 4-8lb as its action was brilliant. Anyway, i went into the shop looking at buying a Daiwa rod or similar but ended up with the Sakana even though i had never heard of them. Being a multi tapered blank the action is brilliant and although the components aren't top shelf i figured i can always replace these down the track if need be. It casts a mile and is light enough to have some fun on smaller species yet it will stop big fish like jews no probs (my intention with this rod, hopefully!!). Have a play with one, load it right up and i mean right up and you will be impressed. I recently went on a charter and he actually had a set of Sakana jigging rods and uses the 4-8lb rod for his breaming and loves it so it was good to hear positives from someone else. I would definately recommend them.

Hi raiders, Just wondering if anybody knows who sells Iron Braid in Sydney. It used to be available from Freddys Auburn but they have now closed and their only other store is in Erina. Any help is much appreciated. Cheers.

    Broken Reel Seat

That sort of sums up how i feel about my new rod, now i say new because i couldn't believe it was my rod that i picked up from Tony today, he did a superb job repairing and modifying my beloved little live fibre in such a short time and i could not be happier, thankyou SO much mate I will recommend you to anyone and everyone, your work is superb and i will definately be back for some custom rods in due time Now i have a rod that is so much lighter, has much better feel and last but not least looks soooo much better. Tony has some pics as well but given his current circumstances i thought i would take some for you guys to see. Before (one of my other live fibres but same grip ) And now You can see in this next pic the shiny black section of blank between the foregrip and Live Fibre writing, this is where the old foregrip used to come up to so Tony scrapped it and bound that section and it looks great and has lost so much weight and bulk now My Sol has a new home!!

    Broken Reel Seat

Thanks for the replies, Ive dropped the rod off at Tonys today and let me say he turns out some special rods We had a good chat and he showed me some builds in process including a couple for other raiders and his work is superb and anyone interested in quality should get down to his store As for my rod Tony will be replacing the grips and seat without removing the guides in this case as the live fibre blank only has a very slight taper so all is good, i asked Tony to take a couple of shots for you guys to see aswell. Thanks again Tony, cant wait to see my new and improved rod

    Broken Reel Seat

Thanks mate, i rang but he is not in store, have sent him a pm. Looks like im the only one with this problem
  15. Hi all, Ive got a little live fibre flick stick which has got a broken reel seat (the part the reel foot slides into under the foregrip). I thought this would be a fairly straight forward fix and while i was having it done i would change the soft EVA grips over for some cork ones... Well seems i was wrong as i spoke to a tackle store today and he informed me that due to a rods taper you would have to take off all the guides in order to slide the new grips on from the tip down. He said i might be able to repair the seet alone but i would really love to change the grips as ive just got myself a nice new daiwa sol as a gift and it would be a perfect match for this rod. So does anyone know if i can change the grips over without stripping off the guides and if so who could do this work for me? Thanks for any help.
  16. theres one on ebay at the moment
