  1. Looks like a nice ep mark, Never landed an ep but they look like some sweet fish. Excellent catch. Just wish u had landed more. So ur motor is screwing u again?? u really shld go back to where u serviced it and bugger them to make it all gd!!!! Those orchids are beautiful. My dad would have loved them too. regards DArryl
  2. Clifton garderns like i say is a place which greatly depends on tides. I have found that it fishes best during a rishing til high tide. I normally stop fishing 2 hours after the tide has peaked. many people tend to cast their rigs as far as possible. However i have found the results most consistant just below the jetty. Lightly weighted pilchard cubes has taken many fish for me off clifton. Personally berlery has done wonders for me there however u really need to make sure that u dun overfeed the fish. Its really a sight to watch the kingies come in and slurp ur cubes up.or have bonnies zoom in to take the cubes. This time of the year i dun really expect too many kingies or bonnies. You would probably still be able to get some trevors, tailor and bream. Sometimes salmon actually do come in close. There are yakkas around and i believe that John dory can be caught here too. never tried for them but heard that they have been caught there. This is a place which i love during summer. Really looking forward to summer once again so that i can get back to clifton to get stretched by the kingies. hope this helps regards DArryl
  3. mate, u really gotta be patient. Now is really a very difficult time to fish anywhere. There have been days we get nothing there where as there are days where fish are bursting up everywhere around us. U gotta try the place during different times. When summer comes u can be sure i'll be there hanging a bait over the jetty whenever the tide is decent and i have the time. I love the place. regards DArryl
  4. Clifton garderns is a spot where tide really plays a big part. Used to fish a lot there with bmar. Actually during summer we were usually there on most days when the kingies were biting. Actually over the space of 1 summer I had over 16 hookups on kings on that jetty. Only problem was that i was using 4lb fireline and 8lb leader. It doesn't help that the barnacles have a love for shredding leaders. Kings normally come in during the rising tide while the bonnies, tailor and watsons bonitos tends to find their way there during the top of the tide. I strongly believe in having a berlery trail running as can actually see them gulping down the scraps up the trail. Highly exciting. I clearly remember a fab day where me and bmar experienced 9 kingie hookups, 3 bonnies and huge schools of tailor bursting up all around us. It must have been a sight of us running around like mad men casting metals into the frenzy and hooking up. Good stuff. Oh how I miss cliffy. Bmar, we really shld find some time and head there. psst... i heard there is a late run of kingies at clifton of late. time to get the 8lb leader out again eh. regards DArryl
  5. Looks like u had a great field day at lake lyell Matt. Hahah it must have been way better than the bream session on sunday. Glad that u managed to get urself into some fish and even got some new fishos too. SO where abouts in Lake Lyell do u fish?? It seems like a pretty big lake to work out. I have been meaning to make a trip up for trout soon. Havn;t had much luck in the salt of late. At least the trout looks better. regards DArryl
  6. Mitch at the rate u are giving these reports u'll be expecting way too many visitors. JUst tell me what carton of beer you would like and u'll might see me at ur door. HAhaha good stuff mate. sounds like u are having a ball of a time down there. regards DArryl
  7. Good work troutboy, i have been meaning to make a trip up for trout. Hopfully i'll drag my bum up within th enext couple of wks for another shot of the trout. Where abt wentworthfalls do u fish from ??? regards DArryl
  8. wish i could join u this wkend unfortunately birthday commitments dun allow me to get out so far. Anyway what time do u normally fish time at the TCD?? The last few trips over we started at ard 8 and ended the session at around 330-4pm. the 3 hr drive back to sydney means i normally get back sometime ard 7pm. A very tiring session actually regards DArryl
  9. Thanks alot matt, i really shld make another trip down soon. While fishing along the shore, i realised that the water near the shore was pretty shallow and even when i was running a shallow runner like a shad rap i was hit the bottom. Is that the way to go ?>??? The shallow water seemed to be devoid of life. To be honest i havn't actually see a single bait fish though out the lake. So this has really gotten me wonderong how effective a diver would work. I am guessing if a trout hits a runner its more out of aggression rather than as a food source. I would probably be wrong since i know almost nuts abt trout fishing but it would be great to get some input from someone who fishes for them more often than me. Its the only way i'll probably learn faster. HAhaha any chance u making a trip soon. Would be go to learn from someone regards DArryl
  10. hi matt, where would u reccomend to fish from the sandy area?? Have walked ard TCD along the sandy area and i didn't see a single trout. probably casted ard 400 + times and didn't see a single follow or anything like that. regards DArryl
  11. Look like u had a pretty decent trip Matt, Its always gd to be able to land a couple. Even better when u are fishing with dad. I really should go and clock some more hours on trout soon. regards DArryl
  12. well it took us almost 6 hours for every fish we have landed there. SO dun be disappointed. It takes me 3 hrs to drive tpo TCD so i gotta clock at least a gd 6 hours before i consider the 6 hour traveling time. Let me know if u wanna head there again Am pretty tempted to give it another try since i seem to have terrible luck with bream at the moment. regards DArryl
  13. hi dan, the BM and hawgs were very lightly weighted. Think we were using a 1/24 or 1/32 jigheads for them.
  14. well done mitch, looks like u are doing very well down south now eh. Well gd for u. That session would really be a gd session in any waterways. So how did the luvias perform for u ??? regards DArryl
  15. Hahaha i would think after Joe's fab win he would probably think it a drop instead of an improvement regards DArryl
  16. Gd catch troutboy. Well guess we gotta work on a few more trips up there mate. Funny there are days when u see them jumping around but not interested in anything. regards DArryl
  17. mate, cut the head off before u fry and then u dun have to worry abt the teeth . Anway good catch i must say. now all i need is to find someone who has a boat big enough to chase such beauts. regards DArryl
  18. thats a pretty gd outing mate. well at least u have nice streams to work with . all we have is a dam!! lol. gd stuff. regards Darryl
  19. TCD = Thomson creek dam which is ard the Litgow area in the blue mountains regards Darryl
  20. can;t seem to be able to post the brown trout pic though
  21. Due the probream fish ban on our beloved parra river, me and mario decided we shld try something different and decided we need to break Mario's trout "Cherry". So up we left early in the morning for TCD for another try of those elusive trout. With the barometer holding steady we were pretty confident on a good outing. Well..... i mean with a 3 hr drive it better be gd. As usual on the way there we have the conversation of how many huge trout just like the ones swoffa lands which we are gonna get. The road there was tough due to the bad fog conditions. But we got there all safe and sound. Meeting the security guard there when he saw that we were there to fish all he said what " Jeeze u guys are kneen." It was freezing. Things we do for a fish. Anyway we hiked up to the dam and we were greeted by a beautiful sight of glass flat water and the sun peaking out. It gonna be a great day!!! Off we went to start fishing the walls. The jumping and slashing trout really got us excited. Looks like things are looking gd. Mario started out with a spoon while i started out with a rapala rainbow coloured countdown. well..... to make a long story short we tried every single hard body we had in our tackle box and still couldn't get any interest. i tried from countdowns to rattling raps to spoons to even tassie devils. Nothing!!! prefect weather but no fish. Someone forgot to tell the fish they were supposed to bite today!! Well mario kinda of got tired and decided to tie on a Bass minnow to slow things down. Within 5 mins he has a rainbow come in to have a look. He got pretty excited and on the next couple of cast he came up tight on a gd fish. His trout actually jumped a couple of times and pulled some drag. Gd stuff. after landing the nice 2lb rainbow. we took a couple of shots and off she went back into the lake. high fives for mario!!! He has pop the cherry!!! So thats what theye were taking SP fished slow. we'll catch truckloads of them now. Now here comes the problem. Both of us didn;t bring our stock of Sps with us! . Oh well Mario had another old 3 inch hawg in his box we i rigged up with that one and off we went back fishing. Within 5 mins my line tightened up and i was connected to a another trout. This time it was a brown. Not a huge one but a decent one weighing 3 lbs. . well we are rolling them in now. Unfortunately after that we both had one more solid hookup each which pulled the hooks. we then lost the only 2 Sps we had. the sun was going down so we decided to call it quits. So in the end no monsters like swoffa but an achievement for mario never the less. Good on u mate. Now we need to plan the next trip for the 5lb both of us are dreaming abt. I guess we shld drag swoffa and matt there to show us the ropes. Anyway hope everyone enjoy the pics. regards DArryl
  22. i like to use a blade to slowly scrape off the epoxy at the legs of the guides. By doing that u prevent damaging the guides and the blank. Once u reach the threads cut the 1st layer off and slowly peel the threads off. Before u rebind the guides try and clean the blank alittle 1st so that the epoxy would be clean and tidy. regards Darryl
  23. mate, mario catches some gd fish. he tends to get more fish then me. I just get the really small ones or if i am lucky, the largers ones. mario is just modest regards DArryl
  24. gd stuff guys, think its time i put in alittle more time in tcd and try and get meself another trout. regards DArryl
  25. thanks all for the kind words , the lure which i landed my first trout was a yozuri magminow which is one of my fav lures while i was fishing in Singapore. unfortunately it was lost when my leader didn;t want to stay connected to my lure. LOL let's just say the lure flew a whole lot furthur than i wished for. Oh well...... hooked up on another trout on a orange red shadrap. Now that was one gd fish. After the leader broke, the trout proceeded to jump around trying to get rid of the lure. Talk abt toying with my feelings. It was hardwork. probably casted over 600 times. Talk abt bad fish to cast ratio. To be honest the fight isn;t all that great. didn;t pull much to my disappointment. However i must say the strike was pretty exciting. To be honest i wouldn;t mind fishing TCD again. The harder it is to catch one the more i wanna try for it. It's really different kind of fishing from bream. So swoffa when do we get to have a trip out with u to learn the ropes. regards DArryl
