Up at Nambucca Heads for a couple of weeks and want to get amongst some decent fish. Went for a drive to SWR to have a look before dragging the boat down there. When looking at Back Creek I noticed a large excavator with bucket which appeared to be digging sand out of the entrance. Are they deepening this area and should I try this (haven't crossed a Bar before) in a Barcrusher 560 or just go through the Bar?

Went out off Coffs Harbour on Tuesday and had two sharks raised to the back of the boat. No berley out but lots of Slimeys around so I guess this is what is bringing them in so close for a feed!

Does anyone wish to share the GPS Co-ordinates for the Hill that has been mentioned a couple of times in this thread?

Just did a search through the Waterways website and cannot find anything that would suggest they have changed the legislation in relation to "length". Can someone please clarify and give links to this change in legislation???

UHF is generally a land type radio. Was your question maybe directed to the difference between 27 Meg & VHF radios?

Decided I would give the new world of soft plastics a go and have lashed out on a heap of Jerk Shad Gulps. I have noticed on several fishing shows that they use a patternoster rig and just use baitkeeper hooks instead of jig heads. Would it be possible to use circle hooks with Gulps? Bar Up.

Just bought a Scotty downrigger with rod holder mount for the Barcrusher 560. First intention was to mount out the side but have just read that you can't do this with the rod holder mount and it can only go straight out the back. Problem now is the boom is not long enough to make it all the way out. My next thought is to fix the mounting plate directly to the gunwale using bolts. Couple of concerns have arisen. 1) Will the combination of stainless steel bolts and nuts cause corrosion with the aluminium (I am sure I have read this somewhere) and if so what other type of steel bolts should I use. 2) Being an aluminium boat do I need to have a backing plate under the gunwale to support? Just wondering if anyone has information on the Jervis Walker Sabiki Baitcatcher Rod. Saw one in the local fishing shop the other day and thought this may save me some money by not throwing away a jig each time I go for a fish.

Was out at the Peak on Sunday. Within 20 minutes all four rods had minimal line left due to those dirty leatherjackets. Headed back into the 50m metre and picked up a good feed of Flatheads.

So what is the 96% I have been eating?
