Thanks guys, good advice. I was striking with the rod and actaully launched a mullet into the property behind me, it was at this point i thought i was doing something wrong will let you know how I go, cant wait for the horse slimeys to turn up in broken bay

Hi all, Finally got round to getting myself a fly rod and teaching myself how to use it. Any, have had good sucess getting a sliver biddy first try (yay) and second time out yesterday I got 5 mullet, a bream and a blackfish - pretty stoked all up. Question - when the fish are moving off with the fly I found it very hard to strike and missed most of the time. What is the motion required for this? I cant see myself hooking a trout any time soon at this rate. Cheers Ben

I chased those schools yesterday, 3km off barrenjoey, moving very fast and big! Not salmon, not kings, my thoughts at the time were striped tuna, but then again my knees were shaking and i wasnt thinking too straight. After a bunch of follows they dissapeared and I gave up.

I just got back from Narra beach, threw soft plastics around in the gutters from Loftus Street north to the Surf Club. Feet got cold, that was about it. Looks great though. Cheers Ben

The entrance of the manning at old bar closed up about the same time, strange coincidence, probably not but anyway

The Salmon came outin the arvo, and where everywhere between west head, barrenjoey and lion island but geez do you think i could tempt them 5 gram halcos, SPs etc. The bait they are feeding on is tiny (so are the salmon). Might have another crack this arvo. cheers Ben
