  1. Take it for a test drive bud. Might meet or exceed your expectations, or you might think its a dog
  2. are the fish now bigger? - or is it that the bigger ones were always there but can now be stopped.......... And weve screwed up the run of inshore babies.......
  3. Is that the Lelepa Island Charter? I did the Island Tour and was wondering how they did on the dedicated fishing charter out of the longboats

    Stripies

go alright as sashimi - not as good as kings/fin obviously, but eddible
  5. Have been getting reasonable flatties around one tree island, the channel west of Pittwater Road and up hard against the drop off on the main bank to the west of Wimbldon Ave trolling hardbodies in the Yak. Also some whiting on poppers on the main bank - hard to hook the buggers though.... dont overlook water that is only 2 feet deep cheers Bennos
  6. Yeah the marks are correct - and from the looks of the other posts perhaps they were not at the Sydney North (Broken Bay) FAD. So its prob just underwater - current wasnt screaming that hard tho....
  7. Can I just check - we are talking about the Sydney North FAD here, not the Sydney Harbour FAD - those co- ord look very close to the Sydney Harbour FAD (and its a long run from Bluefish to Sydney North). Just checking - no probs if im wrong , just trying to find the bloody thing. Cheers Bennos
  8. I was one of those boats circling at the Sydney North FAD. I was actually first out and thought I was in the wrong spot till four or five other boats arrived. So left there and went to 9 mile, found some traps and got a few dollies, but they were so small, maybe 50cm. Fished some closer reefs on the way back in for snapper, tailor and bonito. Ended up being a good day. Cheers Bennos
  9. I was at the Broken Bay FAD on Monday - 20.2 degree water with nothing doing - current was fairly raging though. Saw a Marlin on the way back in in 19 degree water. Had a spread out but no interest. Cheers Ben
  10. Hi All, Got some beaut bream in Cowan system on friday night - left them biting too. And plenty of choppers around. Cheers Ben
  11. I too want to get a T Top - can it be lowered or taken off easily as I have to keep mine out on the street and need to put a cover over it. Also would it be better to put riggers on the t top or off the gunwhales. Cheers Ben
  12. Got four nice browns and one small rainbow in the Murray River at Tom Groggin. Caught on Rapala cd3 in brown trout colour - looks like they were eating there own! Cheers Ben
  13. For big kings (close inshore) you cant go past live garfish and after that live frigates (and pike), and it really is amazing the places they hang out. I spent a lot of time fishing from the ovens and caught a lot of kings there, but the unlikley spots are best for the bigger ones such as south palm beach (shallow, look more like drummer spots). Greg Finney wrote an article many years ago titled 'Pike in Plain Places', I found this holds true. Live frigates at spots you wouldnt expect can really turn it on as can live garfish hooked behind the bum and drifted as far as you dare then brought back in across the surface (backwards). Unfortunately I only ever fished 15kg LBG so didnt land any of the truely big kings (20kg plus) but they are out there. Basically use big baits and 100lb trace minimum. Not sure about big ones in the bays though, cant crack em. Cheers Ben
  14. Went down to Thredbo for the weekend. Plenty of trout in the river, but they were too good for me - but then again I am not very good on the fly. Spinning for them didnt do any good either . Also went and had a look at the Murray River around Tom Groggin. Great looking water - anyone had any sucess there? Cheers Ben
  15. It went back in 2nd time lucky
  16. This little fella looks like he had a bad run in with something - there were open wounds on the other side of him, his fins were all messed up and had been de-scaled. Marlin? or something else? cheers Ben
  17. Hi All, To start the day I picked up a king on a bait jig at west head which was amusing - have seen a few there over the last week. Did a tour of the reefs wide of Broken Bay and a trip the the FAD. Got some dollies around fish traps on the troll but the FAD was swarming, picking up at least 2 fish each per drift with multiple double hookups common. Could have caught them all day. Kept three for the table, the rest going back. Question- we were using live yakkas to try and attract the larger fish but the little fellas were climbing all over them just after they hit the water. What other options are there? Large slimeys at a guess but I think they would have had a go at anything. Also covered a lot of water trolling, some bait schools about 7 miles out but no lookers, and no stripies which was a bit dissapointing but probably shouldnt complain. Water not as warm as 2 weeks ago. Cheers Ben
  18. Yeah got into some kings out the front - was actually expecting a bit more given the water temp and colour in close but hey it was a good day anyway Cheers Ben
  19. Probably is a lot of Fish Raiders around I would say - have seen a few launching like ton o fun - but always in a hurry, you know with ramp rage on the rise
  20. Thats funny - i launched next to you as you were retrieving - we had a quick chat cheers Ben
  21. The tailor have been hooking into the whitebait that are stacked up at the entrance now that it has closed again. Only choppers though - but great to watch. Cheers Ben
  22. Cmon Al, Get the Estuary Angler wet for a change! ha ha Cheers Ben
  23. I had a great session on Sat night - avoided the car park at Flint and Steel and Juno and went over near Lion Island. Live slimeys were lasting about 2 mins before being smashed by whalers - must have hooked at least 8, one of which gave me a good run around on 15kg before biting me off. I was kept busy with the livies, the other guys in the boat bait fishing were getting smoked by big tailor - didnt end up landing one, were biting off everything but brought home a beaut bream. When it got dark moved up to Elanor Bluff for 3 pike eels but had a yakka eaten but missed it. Then moved to yeomans bay were my last yakka got smashed again and bitten off behind the back of the head (tailor again). My mate got smoked again on a slimey strip by something that ran a good 40m. There were also schools of tailor feeding in Careel Bay in the afternoon but moving to quick and solitary kings or salmon boofing away near barrenjoey but I couldnt tepmt them with plastics, metals or trolled rapalas, should have tried a skirt. The run back to Bayview in the rain was nasty though. Cheers Ben
  24. Had a fish of Narra Beach in that filthy southerly on Wed night - was actually a pretty hot bite, but couldnt hook anything. Thinking they might have been bream and since i was using hole pillie woth 5/0 ganags then kept missing them. Went down to half pillie but a kite surfer landed his kite and himself in the gutter and I didnt get any more bites from then on - I thought that was a bit strange cause ive caught fish in the middle of surfers before. Mate fished off another beach further north on the same night for a sambo, a flatty, and an unstopable Cheers Ben
