  1. Thank you. Exactly the kind of feedback I’m after. I did measure it up again this morning and the 72” is going to struggle to fit with the windscreen… but I’m just going to have to find a way. Does your horizon have windscreen clearance issues ? You are right. No stock until mid June at best. A few 60 inch shafts have become available, but get snapped up very quick.
  2. Thanks Frank. I will drop by when/if this weather ever clears. I have seen these pre fab mounting brackets that I can have welded on. Should suit my boat. My windscreen will be an issue, but won’t know how much so until I have the actual motor. Mounting your lector may need a bit more customisation. I have seen something that would be perfectly suited for your boat, I’ll show you when I see you.
  3. Thanks Longy. There is not a lot of room so the 72 inch is probably going to hang out the side more than I would like.
  4. Hi everyone. Sorry if this has been asked before, I have spent ages going through every related post. I’m looking to get a Minn kota for my 5.3m quintrex coast runner. Choosing between a 60 or 72 inch shaft. Bow to waterline is around 80cm, So according to the specs a 60 inch shaft should be sufficient. I do most of my fishing outside the heads so more often than not there is waves and swell. Can anyone provide me with first hand Experience which could help me decide. thank you
  5. Out of Sydney harbour, anywhere north of the heads is broken reef. Good close place to start would be in close around North head. A few specific spots to try 33 47.661S 151 18.399E A bit further NE try 33 47.264S 151 19.362E If you stay along that line and head north, its all broken reef all the way up to Long Reef. good luck
  6. I've got mate with 6 kids and he's never changed a nappy. he is my hero. 6 weeks and counting for me. can't wait.
  7. that's a cracker of a fin mate. top stuff
  8. Thanks Huey. If the boat weighs 1300kg already, once loaded up with fuel and gear, it would make it borderline. I'm looking at the moment Oz. Gotta get something bigger to fit the bub in. How's baby Selena going ?? and how many nappies have you changed ?
  9. G’day everyone. Could someone tell me the how heavy a boat must be before a dual axle trailer is recommended? Is it just the weight alone which determines whether it is needed or other factors such as distances towed? I’m looking at a 5.6m Barcrusher and according to the specs it should weigh around 1300kg, but it is on a single axle trailer so I am a little concerned. Thanks
  10. Niice.... Come on tell us the specs..
  11. How you been Joe ?? You can get squid at any of the ferry wharves on Parra river all the way up towards Silverwater. Kissingpoint wharf , abbotsford and Chiswick are the ones I usually try.
  12. is that a powered reel ?? that's taking the piss isn't it ??? Top fish there Dave. Well done. Never caught blue eye or gemfish before...do they hook themselves ?
  13. I have my inlet slightly higher than the outlet. The inlet has a 90 degree fitting with a tube which brings water into the bottom of the tank. So fresh water flows in from the bottom of the tank and the old water flows out from a tube at the top. On the inlet drill a small hole on top to let air in, this will stop water from siphoning out when the pump is turned off. Works for me
  14. Great stuff. Congrats Oz. 3.1kg and 51cm on the brag mate is very healthy.
  15. 25 kings !!! just when it looked like the season was ending I know how hard you 3 guys work for your fish, so well done. You make it look easy. All the best for Monday Oz. Hope to hear some good news very soon.
  16. Let's just say it was a beach down south.....which might be 11.27 kilometres wide
  17. congrats Paul and Johnno. top stuff guys
  18. Yeah so do I, but then it would be bigger than my biggest Jewie, so I'll just say 10.
  19. This is going to make a mockery of Jewie fishing...but he got it 7pm...think that was about an hour after the low on a pilchard on ganged hooks.
  20. Posting this on behalf of my brother, who on Saturday got his first Jewie. We’ve been getting some good salmon and tailor from this gutter over the last few weeks, but this was a top effort for someone who had never fished off the beach until 2 weeks ago. After a couple of runs he calls for a stingray, but after he got it past the break and it turned on its side they were all cheering…..UNTIL..his line snaps a few metres away and the fish is flapping in the whitewash. So….he does what any respectable fisho would do..he dives on it and tackles it , gets dumped by a few waves and manages to drag it out. Didn’t measure or weigh it, but I’d call it around 10kg ??
  21. Kimmy and I are in. Got something on on Saturday so we'll head down early on Sunday to check out the carnage from the night before.
  22. Some very nice Kingies there mate. well done
  23. It' a long way from Meadowbank to Botany Bay.
  24. that's a nice chunky Kingy. Well done. That would have went hard
  25. G;day Mate. I don’t think you are doing anything wrong. If you are berleying and getting the yakkas around the boat, then you have done the right thing. Don’t know why but they have been very finicky in the harbour lately and very frustrating to catch, but when I go to Botany or Hawksebury I can fill a tank using exactly the same techniques in no time. Where abouts are you ? There are squid all along the Parra river at most of the ferry wharves at night, just look for lights and calm water. Same story for port Hacking.
