  1. It's that kind of blatent bullshit that pisses us all off
  2. I don't agree with you either gabi. If your releasing a fish and it is gut hooked i believe that how you relaese it will determine whether it will live or die (not always so cut and dry i know). But putting a fish out of it's misery sounds a little defeatist to me
  3. How do you prepare them bung? I'm interested to know how a drummer could taste that good. Maybe iv'e been missing out on something good all this time? Are all drummer good eating? are black drummer better eating than silver drummer?
  4. What a double header.. That's good fishing in anyone's language. Interesting to note that a popper could have the same effect submerged.
  5. Like most fishos i'm a slave to the weather. When this clears though i think everyone on this site will be posting great news. Thank god the rain has come
  6. same story as everyone on this thread.. it gets to me alot when i do the right thing and i see people blatently abusing our systems. I speak up as often as i can to these people but sometimes only drives them to be even more arrogant. I sometimes ask myself what does our licence money pay for.. I understand that fish stocking is an integarl part but surely more fisheries personel patoling our coastline keeping people in check would negate the need to have to stock fish in the first place. Or at least protect our natural fish stocks. Maybe harsher penalties should be imposed... and a fishing education program for offenders.. Is that too harsh? I'd love to hear your thoughts on how we could educate the uneducated.
  7. Imagine if a cattie that big existed in the hawkesbury.... i'd stop fishing there altogether. Imagine trying to release the sucker... Still it amazes me what exists in the worlds waterways
  8. They are fish for the mother in law.... I don't like em
  9. bad luck Reeso, at least now the technique should have proved itself and it's a matter of refinig to suit your style. I fish cremorne a little and find that a falling tide is ideal, the first of the run out. I don't find it necessary to fish such lite gear as metioned but each to thier own. As grantm suggested, at certein times blackfish will eat any bait that comes thier way. We caught 14 blackfish on a central coast beach on sunday using live nippers. We were targeting bream and whiting. I think they are great to eat if prepared properly.. fillet and skin is the only way to go...
  10. Thanks guys, I will definately look at the poly's. I must admit though i would have never thoght of them as an option rivaling the ally's. When is the boatshow on? i wan't to make a decision there where i can talk to everyone and try and get the best deal.
  11. Hi all, I'm buying a v-nose punt very soon and would like to get some feedback from owners or people who use these types of boats to fish from. I am tossing between a 435 Hornet Trophy and the 435 Stessl Edgetracker, approximately the same price. Which rides better? which is more stable? or is there another brand that i should consider for around 18k? Your comments would be appreciated
  12. Your right swaffa, the big one's have gotta come from the deeper holes. I've found most of the soaps have come from relatively shallow water up to 8ft. This is a by-product of chasing lizards. Once we found that out flatties have become a thing of the past (even though you still get em chasing jew) Now the challenge of 20kg

    Botany Bay

Botany is the place to be at the moment. We are catching good trevally, salmon, big winter bream and schoolie jew. I only exclusively fish soft plastics so i can't assist you on the bait situation We used to fish both baits and jig plastics off the bottom at the same drifting. In the end the plastics out fished the baits 5 to 1, even using the freshest bait (caught that day) made no difference. Bait just got in the way. The best thing is the fish we catch are quality, rarely any throwbacks. Try all usual haunts bridge pylons, rocky shorelines and drop-offs you will be amazed how effective it is. Last thing use Berkley....
  15. Yeh your right it was a memorable catch on 4lb line. I'm trying to make a conscious effort to use bigger lures and thicker line but in doing so limit my catch rate. I don't like my chances of stopping anything bigger on the light stuff.
  16. do you think stuff like ultrabite would mask that pheromone occuring in humans? I don't know if i'm sold on the stuff yet. My catch rates don't seem to increase when i use the stuff. Maybe it's best purpose is not attract fish but more stop them from being turned off our natural smells..
  17. Good work spizza, The sambos were firing up the central coast last weekend as well. Caught a couple nice size but not 3kg's. We were teased by mamoth surface activity about 100 metres off the beach but couldn't fire a cast out that far. It lasted about 20mins. Talk about frustration

    Lake Mac

Hey Choco Friends of mine live up there and are having success near Belmont. I don't know exactly where, sorry dude . Big winter bream and whiting are the main targets on nippers. Also try drifting with plastics for the odd flattie.
  19. If this is conducted in the Hawkesbury in the future i could definately assist this study. Let us know
  20. Thanks fishos, Good to see jewie fisherman playing thier cards close to their chest. How big is a big jewie? I'm talking 20kg+ but on soft plastics it's a real challenge. In my limited experiece with lures i've found that catching jewies (schoolies at least) are a different proposition than live bait. Locations i wouldn't even look at with bait are producing jew on plastics. But frustratingly no real size amongst them (8kg PB on softies) Anyway try and try again eh..
  21. I know mate.. i've the learnt the hard way in the Hawkesbury River.. but i am willing to trade info if anybody can steer me in the right direction at least.
  22. Hi, i'm a new member a just posted a topic relating to big jewies in Botany Bay/ Georges River. I'm interested in participating in your stocking/ tracking program and would like to learn as much about this species in this waterway as possible. I mainly fish soft plastics and release most fish caught.
  23. HeyFishraiders, can anybody help me? I'm looking to catch big jewies in Botany Bay. I catch small one's on softies on a consistant basis but fail to hook up to anything large. Advice on lure or bait and locations would be appreciated..
