  1. Great fish in tough conditions, all I managed was a 32cm flatty and a 24cm whiting and one very wet body.
  2. Better late than never, all paid and signed up. I actually had forgotten about this. The website says all saltwater fish will be accessible by SHORE and boat. I may have to expand up to wallis lake next sunday because all I can catch in Smiths Lake is flathead. Unless thats a target species.
  3. Good luck Roberta, might have to take the little fella in town with me to the weigh in.
  4. Nice catch Roberta, Im off to Tarbuck again this morning to haev another go with the poppers.
  5. Thanks guys, it was quite the enjoyable session. Not bad for $9.95 Scienceman if you see someone with a little boy following then that will be me. Say gday or you can let me know when you are here and maybe we could catch up for a fish.
  6. I had to go check a few repairs that had to be done on a house we are buying in Tarbuck Bay (Smiths Lake). There is a spot that I have been wanting to give a good try(fished once before with only one hook up but no fish). So after I had been to the house I stopped for a quick fish before lunch with my usual 3 year old companion. Tarbuck Bay The spot fished Fished for about ten minutes with plastics with only a few tiny nibbles. So I decided to give the Poppers I bought yesterday a go (3 for $9.95-Surebite Poppers). I tied on the clear looking one. Second cast and I'm on and land this fellow 22cm first fish on a popper Next cast and with three little bloops and a pause the water erupted with a leaping fish. One of the coolest moments I have had fishing. The fish jumped again and had me puzzled as to what it was. Then I saw it a nice looking flatty. 42cm he decided to have a little dance as the camera went off. The next 20min saw me land two more bream. 28cm this one didn't want to come to the shore and put up a nice little fight. Another 22cm one. By now the little fella was ready to go home so we left. So glad i decided to give the popper a go. I am in love- dont tell the haha The other good thing is that when we move into the house, is that this spot is only about 500m away from the front door step.
  7. Your plan B is better than my plan A and B put together, nice feed
  8. Great report yet again. I saw a bloke pull in a huge flattie near the bridge while I was at the park with the little fella this morning(on the tuncurry side). I went over to have a look and he showed me his keeper bag with two more large flatties and two impressive bream. All three of the flatties would have been 55cm+.
  9. Hey Roberta the Newsagent in Stocklands have copies of Modern Fishing, I just got one....great pics
  10. Yeah about three massive head shakes right at the edge of the water, I thought i was going to loose it. My secret with the 3yo is to pack a treat bag....haha he'll follow me anywhere then until they run out
  11. Went for a quick flick with plastics and 3yo in tow. I have not had much luck lately with all the holiday boats. Have not been able to fish this spot for a while because of the NE winds, but this morning was good. First cast landed an undersized flattie. Moved along the bank and then wammo landed this beauty. Measured 50cm(measured at home), a PB for me and caught on 4lb fireline with 8lb fluro leader and a 65mm squidgy fish(silver fox). Fished for another ten min then changed lures to an Atomic Guzzler prong in the pearly looking colour. Landed to more undersized flatties. I then started to fish over the weed beds in the really shallow water a nd this fella smashed the prong and broke the surface water Very exciting stuff. I didn't have my ruler with me at the lake...I always forget that but my guesstimate would be about 26cm. He got to swim another day because I don't trust my guesstimates too much. Anyway by this stage the little fella had enough and we headed home. Not a bad little 90 minute session.
