  1. Hey Ceph. Did you land a Jew from Oblisk that morning ????? Wrinks
  2. Rick Thats a cracker of a pick of the Flatties. have y ou come across that sight often ??
  3. I dont use berly, the reason being that we work hard for the squid, and we dont want to berly in the pickers to ruin our hard earned bait If you in the right locations, and you have squid, they will come thru, just be patient
  4. Have to say, we have had some 15 plus bust ups within 4 days. and have landed about 10 fish between 93 and 101. A mate of mine landed a 103 with 3 hooks inside, so i guess tne 4 hooks and 104 is definately not out of the question. Wrinks
  5. WELL DONE However, having said that Unfortunatly for you young man, You will now be addicted to Kings. Enjoy the endless days chasing em We all do. Wrinks
  6. Best way to describe where the action is to draw a line between clifton gardens and Nelson park. and it was right in the middle of that line. I reckon there was about 15 boats involved in the action. Wrinks
  7. 17 squid 9 cuttlefish and lost count of the tailor. i dont think i have ever seen bigger boil ups of surface action as i did today Wrinks
  8. They are indeed picky at the moment. Have managed a couple, and have lost a couple as well ( which to me is a great thing, ie, the fish on top have plenty of big fella's in the pack as well ) the fish i've lost have been from straightened hooks. Which is part and parcel of fishing with bream style of lures ) As for ripping the lures thru the pack ??? NOPE !! Don't forget the bait they are chasing is VERY small, small bait sure dont swim all that fast. Hence the reason not to rip the lure thru them. Try the smallest lure you have, but slow down your retrieve. Having said all that My money at the moment is on the fly fisho's, i reckon they have more of a chance of a hook up, than us lure tossers.
  9. Your Occy wouldnt have been responsible for shredding your net. Thats what the crabs do. An Occy's favorite food is a Blue Swimmer Crab. You will often have a crab in the trap, very limp looking thing, and are often missing one or both of its swimmers. The Occys remove the swimmer and then suck out all the flesh from inside. Wrinks
  10. no idea about what the dust will do ?? as it has apparently been 70 yrs or so since the last blast that was apparently worse than this. BUT I wish i was on the water say maybe 5 hours or so prior to this change. I reckon a good bite could have been on the cards ?? anyone get out there just prior ???
  11. i think you must have just had a bad day they are there, and definately not shy 10 days ago. As the other fellas said, yamashita's and or yo zuries, no heavier than 2.5 MAX Wrinks
  12. We got out as well. Was drowned early but managed a couple rain free hours, Heaps of squid, and a couple of nice flatties. ( not bad, considering we forgot the landing net and had to make do with an eskysubmerged type of landing net ) But went thru a stack of plastics on those bloody jackets
  13. Hey Neil Dont fish inland enough anymore, so the points i might add here may not be 100 % accurate Out of season ?? June long weekend to October long weekend, is closed to rivers and streams to allow the sporning run. Dams and lakes, all year round, no worries. ( may be wrong ) Salt water fly to fresh ?? My pop always told me to learn the art of dropping the fly with zero splash. wrinks
  14. Its been years since i have fished the Oberon area, the main reason being the private property i fished changed hands, and the welcome mat removed from all decent fisho's. Yes, i know its their right, but still, quite annoying. ITs those few D Heads in the fishing and 4wd world that have resulted in some land owners closing their gates. And in some cases, rightly so. Allas.... I managed to fish some of the streams in the oberon area, the week prior to the close of the season. We did very well. Probably caught around 20 fish for the weekend. Most that Just keeper size, ( kept 7 all up between the 3 of us ). Interestingly, the belly's of a few had some VERY large roe in them, proving that there are still some big river trout up there. The one change i noticed was that 10 years ago, it was just rainbows, this time mostly browns, and 3 rainbows ?? Wrinks
  15. Hey Jack, good to hear you made a few of the lads bring up last their last nights dinner. ( the exact reason why i wont go out with you. ) Dont forget the weekend starting the 17th. Thats when you have to perform. wrinks Oh Some very nice fish too
  16. Be warned, that i looks like we have a invasion of the jackets on the way Was out on the weekend, and we actually caught more jackets on the troll than salmon and the tailor we were targeting. lost 6 lures to the jackets for 4 salmon and 6 good sized tailer. wrinks
  17. Looked ok from the water today. But didnt launch there, so not 100% Wrinks
  18. Hey John I'm almost 100% sure that NSW Fisheries dont take well to fish that have already been filleted, gutted, heads cut off etc whilst out on the water. Reason being that they are not able to correctly measure the fish, should they come onboard your boat. As i said, not 100% on that one, but its worth looking into
  19. I'm guessing a 35 cm snapper..... ;-) have had plenty of big kings head for the horizon, and not just straight down. The straight down thing normally happens once they have seen the boat, or landing net wrinks
  20. If i had the choice of a live squid bait, or live Cuttley I'd take the Cuttle
  21. Josh Surely you can sneek out perhaps just one more time before you bury your head in the books ??????? You can always sit your HSC again wrinks
  22. The ol Mullet run has started They have been in now for about 3 weeks. Would love to see whats under em making them all nervy
  23. Hey Josh, All im going to say is that you should have put your boat in the water. Amazing day out there today. Wrinks
  24. There is a few swirls on the surface which could be frigets?? But havent bothered to stop and have a look Quite a few amber's but havent managed a sampson as yet We had a good day again on the kings today
  25. Hey Josh Not much on the surface, ( not compared to the last few months ) Squid a little tougher than they have been, ( probably due to the fresh ) Bigger kings are around. Wrinks
