nice feed of whiting steve, I will have to organise a trip in my boat soon with you. I got a really good whiting on thursday night while fishing for jew and have wanted to try that spot with worms for a while now as the whiting are very common on the jew baits at this spot and they are big too!
I have 2 weeks off work in may so I will be in touch and see what we can tee up.

Hi raiders had an RDO yesterday so I decided to hit the harbour last night after a jew. it was a bit quite for the first few hours but I was happy just to be out on such a lovely night after all the wind that I have been putting up with on previous trips lately. I picked up a good size whiting in the first hour or so and the about two hours later I pulled the hook on what felt like a pretty good snapper - a lot of bump bump going on but different to the distinct head shake of a jew. All went quite after that until around 1 in the morning then suddenly one of the rods bent over and I was into a nice school jew, it hit the measuring tape at 73cm and I estimated it to be somewhere around 8 1/2 to 9 pound. I landed another at 50cm a bit later but released it.

good work mate a jew is a jew, no matter how big or how small, you still have to find them!

gday raiders I went out for another crack some blackfish this afternoon and arrived at my chosen spot around 3pm. Unfortunately I was unable to fish the spot where I had success on saturday as the wind was making it almost impossible so I chose another spot where the wind was at my back and it worked out pretty good. things weren't real hot for the first 1 1/2hrs or so only landing 2 fish and losing 2, then all of a sudden in the last half hour before 6pm I was getting a fish on almost every cast landing 8 more and losing 2 others . I finished up with 10 fish again but 8 in the last half hour !
All fish were kept in a keeper bag and released before leaving to fight another day!

Pete just give me a call when you are heading out
Regarding the Bunnies great start to the season first of many wins
.Cheers Stephen
will do stephen! my team had a pretty good win also today smashing the raiders but I am not getting too excited just yet I will make my judgement on what sort of season they will have when they play a stronger team like melbourne or souths etc. they made far to many poor 5th takle decisions for my liking such as deciding to run when there were players marked etc instead of trying to get a restart. I also thought their kicking game was a bit ordinary......same old same old, but a win is a win and i will take it!

That's a nice feed of blackfish Pete, not that I'm a fan of their taste but I know a lot of people enjoy them. The only thing I like about them is that they fight pretty well on light line.
Jeff
gday jeff, I actually dont mind the taste if they are skinned and crumbed but I already had some fish in the freezer and I couldnt be bothered cleaning them so they all live to see another day and were released at the end of fishing, and yes I agree they go good on light line!

Hi raiders, I got a leave pass from the director of home duties this afternoon and decided to have a crack at some blackfish with the left over weed that i still had from my last trip with swordy ( stewy) a couple of weeks ago I was also keen to try out my new floats that I made during the crappy weather we have been having lately. i started fishing around 3.30pm and decided to try a spot I havent fished before due to the fact that the wind was chopping up the water and making it very uncomfortable and the spot that i had in mind was protected from the wind. I anchored up and dropped out a couple of handfulls of sand and weed mix then dropped the float in and..... hey stewy... something was wrong with my float cause it went under straight away! I struck and came up solid on a fish! wow the float works!!!
I fished until around 6.30pm and landed 10 blackfish and dropped 5 others in a very hot little session. All fish were realeased to fight another day.
I was only able to get this photo up but I have emailed another photo to stewy of the entire catch and hopefully he can post it for me - ta stewy!Photo added cheers mrsswordie

very true pete the small sand flats and weed beds hold heaps in shallow water and they are hungry if you get them at the right time..
have you had any luck on the jewwies around gladesville?
cheers james
gday james, I have caught heaps of jew in that area and the whiting that I have caught are in about 80foot of water!!

congrats mate- It doesnt surprise me to hear that you got one that big around gladesville, I have caught plenty while fishing for jew with full squid , never measured them but some would be around 2lb and fat as a coke bottle. there are some real crackers in that area. One day I will go to the trouble of getting some live worms and having a serious go for them. congratulations.

nice one alan!! I have caught the occassional blackfish at night on small prawn pieces fishing for bream but never 7 at a time!
well done mate. that spot would be well worth a try in the day time with some weed.

is that what that silly grin was???? I thought that was just how you look all the time!
- As for using a net I dont get much of a chance to do that as I am usually hooked up..........you forgot to write ON THE BOTTOM at the end of that sentence!
once again thanks for a top day, looking forward to next time - maybe next time i will bring some flour to make bread for bait!!!!!
-
hey donna if I want to report something like- say.... stewy only catches blackfish when I put him on to them..... what section would I put that in?
ha ha ha ha ha ha !!!!

thanks for a top day stewy - I laughed so hard that I literally got a cramp in my rib area, I am sure that only made stewy laugh even more!
we actually had two double hookups, the fish seem to come through then dissapear so you just had to have a bait in the water when they were passing through, mind you it didnt help that stewy was hogging the perfect drift then accusing me of casting over him to try and get some action. LOL!
I figured it was my duty to show stewy a good time and really put him on to some fish seeming we were fishing out of my boat and all and now he thinks that he is actually a better fisherman than me but we will let him dream!
looking forward to our next trip stewy and next time the gloves are off!!!LOL. hopefully by then I will have some new jokes to tell!
P.S. I did land about 5 fish eventually even though stewy tried his best to hit them with the landing net.
