  3. Hello everybody! Does anyone know any land based spots where i can catch yellowtail - for live baiting, throughout the georges river ? My father in law has no patience so i'm planning on catching from land before we head out on the boat. Or if anyone could suggest some nice squidding spots that would be greatly appreciated. I live in Illawong but frequently travel through sans souci , brighton le sands , taren point. Thanks buddies, Archilles2
  4. Hey Billfisher, could i ask where you picked up the 4500 from ? i live in sydney and am pretty keen Also where could i find a combo like that josh 88 ? Thanks again for every1's contribution , any information always welcome
  5. G.T. , Dicko, thanks for you replies, i've got a boat and plan on sending my live bait down the bottom, i love to drift and have already been smashed by 2 kingies on light gear ( on the drift ) Not sure if it's a good idead to drift though, but this allows me to fish with my lighter rods at the front of the boat whilst i have three beasts, ready and live out the back ( occasionally anchoring near mollineaux point) Could i ask , what's the difference between a cheaper shimano and a more expensive shimano ? Is it the pressure applied to the fish through drag ? I have just rigged up 4 rods using tiny FX 2500 FB , PERFECT FOR FLATTIES , BREAM, WHITING ETC.. But i have been spooled twice, fishing with 6lb line and felt even if i had thicker line , i couldn't stop the fish that spooled me. Do you think baitrunners will enably me to hold a fish up to 80cm ?
  6. Hey Daley Boy , Thanks for the offer , normally i would but i want brand new gear and am planning on getting more down the track, your deal sounds good - i'm sure it will sell
  7. Dan and Greg, Bagga - thankyou very much for you help , i really appreciate it. I've gone to two tackle shops already and both have suggested i go home and do my research, problem is it's so hard to find any info what so ever! Do you think i could find a decent enough rod at either ****** or+_+_) ? then go target my reel online ? Also i don't know how to set up my line, trace , hook , sinker etc. Can anyone tell me where i can find diagrams or info on this ? thanks a bunch
  8. Hey all, I tried posting in tackle talk but no one seems to wanna help me I caught my first kingfish on a handline this week and it's inspired me to try catch kingfish. I have $ 250 to spend all up ( which probably isn't much for a whole kingy outfit ) but was hoping someone could tell me the following : 1. What rod i could buy 2. What reel i could buy 3. What braid I want to catch fish 65 - 80cm in length or more if it could handle it. Any help would be greatly appreciated , i fish Botany Bay and am setting up a live bait tank as we speak
  9. Hey all, The time has come for me to catch kingfish, i can't deny the temptation no more. I just don't know what rod, reel, line, rig i should be using and i can't find anything on the internet. Any help would really be appreciated Last week i was fishing light for flatties, on the drift and i got spooled by something huge. I noticed afew boats around us where catching kingfish and boyy did that get my adrenalin going! I can't stand lures and only want to fish livies. Appreciate your thoughts!
  10. Hi everybody! Hope all is well, been fishing the bay lately and boy have i had some fun, so many mixed bags, legal flatties, trevally, whitings etc. BUTTTTTTT i can't stand watching other fishos pull out whopper kingies in the bay. I only fish light and avoid rigging up for kingies simply because i don't know how to catch them Ladies and gentlemen, i can't take the pain no more and have decided to try fishing for kingies whilst fishing for my regulars ( bream, flatties etc ). Last week i almost got spooled on my tiny shimano reel , lucky the fish bit the hook in half and i was able to retrieve my new line Anyhooo, i want to start catching live bait to fill my new live tank ( that i'm building myself ) , does anyone know any land based spots ? techniques ? I'm getting advice from hither and wither as to how to build a nice kingie rod, reel and rig package too

  12. Morning all, Went out yesterday fishing first time the georges river and caught 3 small snappers, it was soo quiet but i put it down to us not knowing how to fish the area very well. Could anyone give me some pointers as we're spending boxing day out on the water and i have 5 people ready to fish - i don't want it to be dissapointing again hehe We like the river because it's calm when the bay gets too choppy. Problem is i don't know any spots. Yesterday we used chicken thigh and prawns, nothing was eating the chicken thigh just the prawns. This time i plan to use nippers, prawns, mullet/ pillies. We headed over to como bridge and my father in law dropped anchor in only 3metres of water, i'm guessing we were also fishing too shallow. Any help would be great thanks.
  13. Goodmorning everybody, Is anyone able to point out on a map where the hot water outlet is ? i've been there on 2 ocassions and havn't been able to identify the swirling/boiling water ? Thanks, Archilles
  14. Going to throw you all a curly one, I fish in many spots prone to snagging which contain potentially good fish ( landbased ). Yesterday i lost almost 6 sinkers and many more in the past! I've tried the sinker moulds but don't like mucking around with lead, especially around the family so i scrapped that idead. As silly as this may sound, has anyone come up with another cheap alternative ? I use alot of ball sinkers , so i need to find somethign spherical in shape that can be found in different weights and cheap as anything . i challenge anyone to come up with a cheap alternative
  15. boys, thankyou so much for your help ! i really appreciate it - can't wait to get out there again , we have a 19ft boat so it can handle abit of turbulance, however i don't like fishing in a washine machine even if the boat is biggish. On another note i'd like to open a can of worms and ask how the hell would i go about catching kingies ? yep that's right kingies - i've never tried! Where can i find out some info ? Thanks again Fishraiders !
  16. i have been a member of fishnet and it's sooooooooo hard to get a reply out of anyone , this site is soo good, i find the fisherman on this site are more sydney based, am i right ?
  17. now you tell me, i just got married 1 year ago! anyway back to the real fishing - can anyone help out i havn't caught a fish in yonks!
  18. Heya Fellas, Finally signed up to fishraider after many failed attempts and i'm pleased to meet you all Boys, just got a boat , and i want to fish the bay. I went out for the first time to the oil wharf Saturday 13th Dec and boyyyyy did we get smashed by the waves! it was sooo windy and we had no luck , we couldn't stay because of the gale force winds... Can anyone recommend any spots ? i was very disheartened by our adventure but am confident there are still fish to be caught.. I can't stand lures and like fresh bait only consisting of blood worms, nippers, prawns , pillies etc... Also i tried to make my own rex hunt BURLEY BOMB , but it just drifted away and didn't sink i like the idea of having my berley reach the bottom when we're anchored - any thoughts on this also ? All i want is bream/flatty/whiting lol Any suggestions always welcome - thanks boys
