  1. Looking for a G-Loomis model to throw around soft plastics for Flatties and the occassiobal soapie and rat. Also looking for a model to interchange it for small metals to hit the pelagics and sambos.
  2. Does anybody know of any good sydney based companies/persons who specialise in moulding your prized catch ?
  3. Peter, The reef is not the biggest, but it does produce fish. It is located 3.5 kms SE of Wattamolla.
  4. Nice Cobes. By any chance are you related to kirk gidley?
  5. Hit one of our favourute reef's out of the National Park. Came up trumps with a 53cm Red and a few others. Our reef spot which we anchor over never seems to dissapoint with regular bag limits reached in no time.
  6. poppping a flare and aiming for his head would be a good wake up call.
  7. Dont even dream about it in a Bowrider.
  8. Why didn't you throw that prawn out on a hook???
  9. I am after a Rod to match up my Torsa30. I have a few 15kg & 24Kg Shimano BB Rods, though i am looking at moving up a notch. Will be using heavy weights and jigs up to a pound and Mono only I predominantly use my Smith Rod matched with Stella 20000SW for jigging so the torsa will be used more for Bottom Bashing, though i wouldn't disregard jigging if they are on. Have been looking at the Bluewater series from Shimano, though i dont fancy the non-roller tip and its actual size being 7'6.
  10. What you are saying is spot on correct, though bare in mind you are not the Police nor Fisheries, so i would be very carefull with your approach to other boats. You also shouldnt advise people to take on your approach when you see undersized fish being caught. That is the job of the Police and Fisheries. You see illegal activity report it to the authorities and dont take matters into your own hands, otherwise if you step on the wrong toe you can very well be reporting yourself into a hospital ward.
  11. When fish are netted yes they are dead, commercial fishing involves netting and these things happen, they to need to earn a living like every other human being. Commercial dredging used to take place in wollongong for scallops, this was very good for the recreational fisherman as this would attract very good snapper and mahi mahi, now this is banned because the recreational fishermen would complain about it. The fisheries used the recreational fisherman as an excuse to ban commercial fishing and now they are using the recreational fishermen to form a marine park. Fishing is like lotto, one week you pick three numbers and the other you pick none, and one week you might pick the jackpot. Fishing is the same, one week you catch a fish or two and the other week you bag out. It's a sport, you win and you loose. Bad looser's will always remain bad sport's.
  12. Blue fish such as Slimey's,Tuna,Yakkas etc are highly regarded by doctors as a big supplement of omega 3. IMO they are the best eating fish. I find it very amusing when i see and hear people say they are very dry though such blue fish have the most fat(fish fat/oil). So for the fish to be dry you must be doing something very wrong. It tears my heart apart when i see and hear people who go on charters catching stripey's,bonnies etc and the owner's keeping them and salting them for snapper bait. Very wrong. Alot of people eat YFT but dont want to hear about stripeys and bonnies, though they come from the same family.
  13. For christmas i received a new 27 Mhz radio which i was going to install today though, i have read a fair few reviews that there is nothing but static with 27 Mhz radios and once they installed a VHF there is clear transmission and reception?! Have any etec owner's come across this problem with 27 Mhz ?
  14. Excellent occies, what bait did you use for them?
  15. Myself and bbbsyd were there the last 2 nights and they were everywhere. We ended up getting 4 kilos in the 2 nights. We also managed quiet a few 50cm plus flatties around the boatshed. We also had a fish on the beach with nice sambos and bream being taken on prawns. We came across a local who landed 2 jewies right at the mouth. One was a monster, we gather 20+ kilo mark and the other one was a smaller model to that one. Tight Lines
  16. You cant go past the Shimano Big Baitrunner Long Cast. Cast's a mile away and is also bruising on the Kings and Jews!
  17. I thought Belambi was near wollongong ?
