  1. Thats a savage bream. Well done on the tailor as well. I would love to eat all that squid.
  2. Hi there. I asked a similar question a while back regarding the quality of Stessco. The feedback was not good for this boat with a few people commenting on the quality of the welds. Steer clear of that brand i would say.
  3. Looks impressive. Have you given it a test run yet?
  4. Sorry i didnt weigh her. We didnt have any scales on the boat. With regard to not bringing their head out of the water is there any particular method for this cos as i dont think i tried to pull his head out. She came to the boat quite easily but when she saw the boat went crazy. Not sure how to stop this? Mike
  5. I was out with a mate a while back driving back to the ramp when we saw something jump out of the water. It was a prawn that had jumped into the boat. My mate being the weirdo that he is peeled it and gobbled it up. Said it was delicious. Not sure if thats normal or not. I have eaten kingfish, tuna, whiting and salmon. Bit of wasabi and soy sauce and they all go great guns.
  6. Hi all, Thought i would post a report from a few weeks back but its my first so hopefully it all works ok. A mate of mine had just bought a second hand hornet trophey and asked if i wanted to go out for a fish. I had never used SP before but he told me they were heaps of fun so i bought a few packs and off we went. We fished for about two hours with my mate catching about 5 flattys and a few bream and i had zitch. The luck changed and he went cold and i was busy bringing in a 36cm bream which we were both impressd by. I was quickly learning to use the SP and my next fish was a little soapie. First ever jew. Pathetically small but still a first. The day progressed with a few more flathead in the boat ready for the table when we decided to head for home. As i hadnt been out for some time i said give it a few more casts. Next cast i felt something decent. It actually came to the surface without much fuss when both me and my mate yelled holy ..... as we layed eyes on it. I thought it was a ray from the width of its melon but then realised it was a flatty. As i said it came to the surface without a fuss but then it went mental shaking it head splashing water everywhere. My mate thought my inexperience and my 6 pound tackle was a goner and was laughing his head off. The fat flatty ate a tiny 3 inch pogy. Anyway to cut a long story short we got her in the net and on board. Measured her up at 96cms. I had no idea about breeding or how old they are. I was licking my lips thinking there would be some good fillets there but my mate said i wasnt keeping her but she was going back. I thought he was crazy but after much reading since it seems that is the done thing if its still alive. Anyway a great day out. Hope my first report was not dead boring and that the pics work. I dont want any grief about my wicked jumper either.
  7. Thanks guys/girls. One last questin. When i buy a sounder does it come with a transducer and all the relevant equipment or does that come seperately?
  8. Many thanks Geoff but can you or any other members shed any light on the difficulty of installing this?
  9. Hi Raiders, Can someone give me advice on how hard it is to install your own fishfinder and transducer? Also what would be a good one for a tinny thats about 4.2m long? I think i would like colour but dont want it to cost me an arm and leg. Probably about $400. Is this enough for a fishfinder and tranducer? Cheers for any help.
  10. Thanks for your help. Sounds like i should spend about $150 on a reel and then find a rod to match. Is there any length of rod that would be best?
  11. Cheers for your comments. That rod that you are selling is a beast. I think that might be a bit overkill. I will be in a tinny and that rod looks like its built for the open water.
  12. I would hope that it would be capable of catching some decent size kings. I have a rod for flicking SP and this can catch the rats. Get busted occasionally but that always provides my mates with a laugh.
  13. Hi All, Can any one give me some advice on a rod and reel combo for kings that is about $150? I want to use it from a small boat and would like to possibly do some light trolling with it also. Am i delusional thinking i could get anything decent for that price? Mike.
  14. Raiders i love this site. Thanks for your opinions. Stessco is out! Huey back in. I will check out the nomad tonight. An idea of a basic package with a 40HP on it?
  15. I appreciate your response. It seems from the amount of views compared to comments that fellow raiders dont think much of the stessco. I have not seen one in person yet but i do like the way they look on the web. I was attarcted by the price but would like something that will last about 5 years at least.
  16. Hi all Raiders, Am after a little help if you can. I am in the process of looking into buying a tinny and was looking at the Stessco Catcher SF420. Does anyone have any feedback on this boat? I want to put a 40HP on the back also. Appreciate any advice positive or negetive. By the way i am looking at spending about $10k. I spoke with Huey about a Stacer but i am not that keen on the thwart seats. Mike.
  17. Nice little jew. Not as good as your Brazillian Dorado.
  18. Hey fishmaniac. Loads of people swim at Rose Bay but i would love to see their faces if you pulled one into the shore there.
  19. They are some thumping kings. Any hints as to the location?
