  1. I have been out a few times and found the fishing fairly quiet and the Gemmies on the small size. I might give it one more shot before the Gemfish disappear.
  2. As the stewy and Dennis said it was an interesting day. Trolled all morning for no results, water temp was 26 degrees, Checked the BB wide fad but no dollies, maybe too much current which was nearly pulling the fad under. Tried finding the inner fad (Sydney East fad) but was not on the spot marked in my gps, Googled it but google had it way north of us. Anyway we found it using an educated guess and Stewy's eagle eyes and the rest is history. I contacted the Department of Primary Industry and it turns out they published the wrong coordinates for this fad although the map has the correct coordinates if you click on it. They were surprised that no one had reported this and said they would correct it.
  3. Only just saw your post. yes it is God's country. I grew up on the Nambucca in the 50's and 60's and used to holiday each xmas at Scotts most of my fishing was offshore with my father although I did a little beach fishing for bream and flathead and caught more than my share of shovel nose and rays. Elephant head and the other headlands were also good spots to dive for crays. If your still up there don't forget to stock up with supplies from Scotts bottle shop and say hello to the lovely Karen. 6. A great weekend fishing the Port Stephens Trailer boat tournament with Stewy and Jeff. Unfortunately we didn’t to get a score on the board although Jeff was in contention for a while with his Kingy, and the Tailor I caught may have been close but we decided we’d use it on the Marlin which was to be the Target species as the boys were determined to try and get me my first Marlin. Unfortunately no Marlin but I learnt a lot about trolling, skip baiting etc from Stewy and Jeff, thanks guys. Also like to thank Jeff and his lovely wife Jodie for the hospitality afforded us over the weekend.
  7. Use google to find gps marks for the Shoalhaven, and there are many, some not far from the entrance, as well as the Sir John young banks which is a large reef system that is about 12 mile out and extends down to Currarong. These gps marks put you roughly on the areas and it’s a matter of sounding around to find any interesting features. Also keep an eye on the sounder while travelling to a mark and you will find many other spots of interest.
  8. Tasted bloody marvellous Stewy. Thanks for coming out and showing me the ropes re Marlin fishing. A lot of water covered and the results were a little disappointing but I guess thats fishing. Next time.
