  1. my grandparents had a holiday house up there and as a kid would spend my entire holidays there. My grandfather taught me how to fish there and caught a lot of good flatties, bream and mud crabs over the years
  2. i love how he says 'ONLY' one this time and here i am still trying to bag my first hahahah. Good work
  3. i went down beach fishing at Bate bay cronulla just up from the wanda surf club on friday night, quite a few guys were getting some salmon and taylor but i was out trying my hand and jew fishing
  4. congrats on the awesome catch, i dream of bagging one of those
  5. i was down there 2 weekends ago and hit the beach but nothing was really going. I got a van down there in the council park and was speaking to one of the neighbours afew days ago who has been down for a bit and he said they haven't been getting much luck in the river. Whenever i head out i generally drift near the ferry and usually catch something. Broughton creek is suppose to be alright for jews with some deep holes in it
  6. just down in yowie bay. Hit the wharf there last night for a fish, trying for anything and some squid but they werent having any of it with the squid jigs but they were going for the soft plastics and live bait. my mate did manage to hook up an occy about 60cm long with the squid jig but let it sink to the bottom and it stuck to the rocks as well as a 40cm taylor on a live yakka.
  7. Having been told at 9am this morning that my brother and myself didnt have to work today we decided on a quick session in the boat down the hacking and ended up fishing only 300 metres from where we launched the. stayed for about two and a half hours and managed a decent flatty at 52cm on a peppered prawn. we were getting smashed left right and centre by everything but couldnt seem to have them hook up properly, many times breaking off just below the surface. It then came as a bit of a surprise to us that my brother caught a squid using a 4 inch pumkin seed and it wasnt long after that they were everywhere. Neither of us have ever caught squid before and have never bothered trying to catch them so it comes as no surprise we didnt have any squid jigs, but i'll be sure to have some next time. Ended up being a lot of fun and was a whole lot better than working.
  8. registered just before, should be a good day to take the new boat out and give it a whirl
  9. its gotta be real, check out the person in the black shirt, he has a fish slung over his back. you can just make it out.
  10. the man made channel where the ferry is. throw a line in and drift along the bottom, heaps of flatties in there few bream and the odd jew.
  11. when ronald reagan was in power in the US he had the great idea of the "trickle down effect". By reducing the taxes of the upper classes, they hoped that they would then increase their spending and it would flow on down to the people below them making everyone rich, just like the business owner before said he would. Well guess what happened, the rich became richer as they simply just pocketed it and the rest, to offset these taxes became poorer.

    Shark Attacks

i was just about to say the same thing. people get bitten by snakes all the time but you never hear this outcry and are simple told if you go walking through the bush wear shoes or dont stick your hand down a dark hole where they might be. Same principle applies to the water. watched a doco on sharks the other day about shark attacks in AUS and statistically speaking Syd harbour is the most likeliest place to be killed by a shark in AUS
  13. hey all, my name is Luke but call me nashy. I'm 22 years old and live in the sutherland shire and for the last few years been doing a PE teaching degree at uni but have take time off this semester to set up a new business with my dad. As a kid i use to fish the Hawkesbury at my grandparents holiday house until my parents got a place at shoalhaven heads where i only really ever hit seven mile beach for whiting and Jewies (never had any luck) and occassionaly up the river. 3 weeks ago i went up the central coast and went out with my uncle and cousin at the entrance using SP's for the very first time, at first i wasnt catching anything and getting pretty annoyed that my uncle and cousin had, but slowly got the hang of it and caught 3 keeper flatties to my cousins 2 and uncles 1. The very next day i went and bought myself a set up for SP's and since i have had so much time off (recently had a knee reconstruction) i have been sussing out places in the hacking and georges, havent caught much but everytime i go out i love it. If anyone wants a fishing mate or someone to keep them company that fishes the hacking or georges just send a PM.
  14. keflapo is pretty much on the money. The desal site is huge, i have worked out there and to know where you have to go is a night mare, so the number of staff required to run it will be quite large. but like i said i am purely worried about the effluent that is being pumped out so close to shore
  15. me and my dad do a lot of beach fishing along 7 mile beach at Shoalhaven heads and for years now we have been using blood worms mainly for catching whiting, but have also hooked plenty of other species such as bream and jewies. compared to beach worms they work just as well if not better especially when it comes to keeping it on the hook as they arent as soft as a beach worm. My old man once used the one piece of bait to catch 4 whiting in succession and couldnt go for a 5th as the 4th swallowed the hook
  16. Botany Bay looks to be firing but when the desal is finally up and running that will all probably change since the salt they are pumping off kurnell will not be far from the coast line
