  1. sounds like a great idea mate. i would be keen to do something like that.

i was going out into botany bay on friday nite i launched the boat at tom ugly's and unfortunatly thats as far as we got engine was overheating. so didnt wanna waste a night. ended up anchoring near the bridge and dropped some really fresh squid, and some yakka's we caught that night.

we ended up with 2 jewies 1 was 54cm and the other 61cm and a flatty that was about 60cm.

we were on the water at 8.30pm started fishing at around 9pm and were back at the ramp at around 12pm. we fished the run out then the conditions got pretty ugly so we left.

    cheers hamerz.

hi mate good 2 hear u got a few, wat method were u using with the soft plastics ?

  3. Gday hammerz,

We head up to lake macquarie once or twice a year for holidays and the fishing can be bloody unreal at times

There a quite a few jewies im the lake as some members have metioned Pullbah island holds a few good jew just look for the deeper holes on the sounder and fish early morning or late afternoon /night ,

Kingys are caught in the lake at times, on our way out at christmas time we saw what we thought were tailor busting up around the channel markers at the entrance to the channel which turned out to be a big school of rats , the swansea bridge is renound for big kingys but catching them is another story as most of the time they'll get to the bridge pillons seconds after hooking up.

Believe it or not a couple of years ago a few Dolphin fish were caught in the lake also :1yikes:

hi mate and thanks for the help from everyone i am recieving, mate wat would be the bait of choice up there for jewies ? yakka's, live and or fresh squid ? wat do u think ?

  4. no worries will do im on the southern end and will probably be all over the place. ive got a big white half can with a big fixed canopy with the numbers 941 on the sides. sorry no pics just yet. if u find me call me over . ill keep channel 88 aswell.

  5. Yeh Pulbah is a good option as you can always find a place out of the wind as well. If you have a gps try the artificial reefs north east of pulbah the marks are on the Fisheries site or Department of prime industries website. Also wangi point weve got some nice bream so may be worth a try or the dropover I saw some massive whiting cruising there last weekend at the change of tide I never really target them but I've caught a few nice bream there..none last week though but thats another story : ).

    good luck.

thanks for the info mate can u tell me where 2 find the drop off please ?

another question guys (sorry 4 being a ball breaker) is there any jewies or kingy's in the lake ?

  6. mate im heading up over the easter break aswell. sataying there for four days. all the caravan parks a completly booked out they been booked out since feb wen i rang up, we ended up booking a house down near nords wharf. im in the same boat as u never been but gonna give it a shot. ive got a post aswell that u might help u out a bit. its in this section aswell. good luck mate and all the best.

p.s where abouts is the drop off in the lake ?

  7. hi all im fairly new 2 using soft plastics, caught a few flatties and small bream nothing 2 brag about. i just wanted 2 know if u can bottom bash using soft plastics or even drift using them. if so how should i rig them up. im thinking shads and pogy's will be best for that ?

let me no wat u all think,

    cheers hamerz.

  8. Hey

I live in Summerland point, so just around the corner from where you are staying im pretty sure and for boat spots swansea channel is a very nice fishing spot, i cant give you to much detail as its been years since ive been in a boat in there but its always pretty productive for fish just be careful in there it can be a dangerous waterway for people who dont know it.

Swansea Channel is also great for landbased in places, the water runs fast there in alot of places so just have a look around and ull find some places to fish.

A nice little place to spend a day is if you drive to swansea and when you get to the big round about out front of maccas turn right and go to the end of that road then left, keep driving down there and youll find a carpark theres a nice rock wall there and a good rock fishing spot just a walk around the point.

If you dont wanna travel to swansea then youll still find plenty of spots in the lake that will be good fishing just by looking at them, maybe try the power station outlet near summerland point aswell ive heard thats good.

If you need any more info about the area let me know and ill tell ya what i can.

    Cheers

    Cory

thanks for the info mate i'll definatly try swansea been hearing good thing about it. cheers mate.

  9. hi guys long time viewer 2nd time poster. like 2 say this is a great site very imformative and cant keep away from it.

so anyway me and a few mates have booked a house over the easter long weekend on lake macquarie, the house is just south of nords wharf, so basically we are situated on the south eastern end of the lake, we will be taking up a boat with us and will be there for 4 days.

just wanted 2 no if any1 that has fished the area or lives up that way can point us in the right direction for some boat and land based fishing.

we will be using your normal baits and soft plastics. and watever livies we encounter aswell.

    cheers hamerz.
